I know someone who just gave birth only three weeks ago but her husband got involved with someone from a cult and he would talk with the cult guy for hours every time he calls. Now her husband is moving to another state to live in the cult trailers, leaving her and her 3 week old baby behind.

Some people may have had good intentions before they got in to a cult they may think they are helping other people in a way but they are leading others down a road of deception, and ultimately to their own destruction. This manly happens because the cult makes them feel special for their service, or offers them some reward. All cults work off of mind manipulation, and the desires of the people who enter. The fact the leaders know your desires is very disturbing to say the least. The reality is there is mind control to some extent being used because even this guy admits that if someone asked you outright to join our cult people would not do it, but they can be lead in to joining through deception. Lack of real historic knowledge, and biblical truth is also a factor in people being mislead in to joining cults. In my opinion all cult leaders are narcissists that guilt trip, gaslight, and manipulate people emotions, and then use their emotions against them. Demons tempt humanity because they know more about you than you think they know. Fallen angels did the same things in the past.

I also think it's possible for an individual to have a cult like relationship to a group of people while the group itself is not a cult. Whereas everyone else has a healthy relationship to the group, there could be one person who has internalized a need to not ask questions and appease whatever they perceive to be the desires of others. I've been there before, having rich parents and going to a liberal arts school and not having any drive. I ended up deciding that anyone who is "marginalized" inherently knows best and I should follow their lead. In the end I had four felonies on my plate after being arrested at two different protests.
I believed that it was my duty as a white, rich guy to be as self sacrificing as possible.
And none of this was helped by the election of Trump, increasing white nationalism, concerns of global warming, or any of that stuff. In fact it all made me go crazy, quite literally, developing legitimate mental health issues and paranoia.
None of this is to say that the social inequalities that are talked about on college campuses aren't real. And I still know on some level that I don't really know what's going on in the world, what racism feels like to a person of color, etc. None of us will never know all the answers.
But I also, at this point, have allowed myself to be more middle of the road, to not get so swayed by what others think. After all, it never felt good to blindly follow other people. I always felt like an idiot, like I was arguing backwards to prove myself, never able to really listen to what other people had to say because in my head my own points didn't even make sense. Always defensive, always reactionary.
This doesn't mean that I am now completely inactive. While it is true that no one ever knows everything, the answer is not then to lock oneself up in an ivory tower. As my favorite Zapatista phrase goes, "caminando, preguntamos". In other words, "as we walk, we question". It will always be a struggle then, to find the line between action and knowing.

Well done. I was looking more for the tactics cult use to gain members. Which your video didn’t talk about. However it did a good job of showing why people may be open to being manipulated into joining one. Never ever give up your autonomy and ability to reason critically. Blind obedience is not what God wants. He wants you to come and reason with Him. It’s a discussion. Yes obedience comes into play but there is already a relationship of trust, respect, and love in place.

He is just pretending to be nice so you keep coming back to him you need to just take your chances, and leave. Your life is not better than being on the streets with him anyway. He is manipulating you to commit sin because he wants to own you hell not just control you on Earth. This is a battle for your soul nothing more he sees more in you than you see in yourself, and he wants to destroy that. It is actually a compliment he is paying attention to you. I'm with a older man to similar, but not extreme. You are not a loser. He is a narcissistic demon they want to kill you eventually if not physically emotionally until you commit suicide just get away from him. Some even warn people when they walk in haunted places filled with demons they sometimes say get out because if you don't they plan to drive you nuts if they stay there until someone commits suicide.

The answer is simple. Most people that get trapped in these don't feel right about themselves they find a sense of belonging and then the Trap is closed their total if they ever separate from that particular group they're worth nothing they will have nobody Etc. That's why people should be looking at Jesus and not always Wako leaders that claim to be Prophets.

yes, unfortunately I too came to face this world dangerous group of cults. there is cult in India who emphasizes on happiness and I happened to meet one cult member who was unfortunately my classmate. he and his family who lives in Indian state of Kerala did almost every thing to get me into the cult. they tried spoiling my career, they gained unauthorized access into my digital life and they are still accessing to watch my communications to look for chances to trap me (which they call as mentoring to make me better person which is the agenda of almost every cult and people believe them here). As a person who battled cult, I could say that these cult members are extremely dangerous than any war or anything. the cult leader which i mentioned was known to world as peacemaker and claim he solved world problems but the truth no one knows the underground world of the cult. every cult presents themselves as if they are making world better place but that is fake. one common characters of cult leaders , as i would say their aspirations, to be powerful and have the influence on world. finally, they make good money and live a lavish life.

I've been studying cults a lot lately and it's frightening how much alike they are. In most of the big, better known cults, women are always second class citizens - and have to wear a head covering to prove it . They're there to do as they're told, marry as they're told and have as many children as can be squeezed out of them. The cult leader is always a man, he always claims his instructions come directly from God and he always teaches that you're ONLY going to heaven if you believe in him and do it his way! As the cult grows and 'settles in' so to speak life gets noticeably worse for the followers - and in proportion gets better for the leader and slowly but surely the nastiness creeps in. I guess it's human frailty - because let's face it NOBODY is receiving the so-called WORD OF GOD into his ear ... and I do have to say that IF all these appalling men, such as Neville Cooper, Warren Jeffs, David Koresh etc., really do believe that God is talking personally to them - then one has to ask, WHAT SORT OF PERSON IS GOD, for heaven's sake?!

For instance with mainstream religion like Christianity if you don't like a pastor you can say "This pastor doesn't jive with me, I'm going across the street." It isn't that easy if you are in a cult.
