The best version of this song, can be found in the soundtrack of Message in a Bottle. This is the version produced by David Foster. Lyrics included here below. Enjoy!
I thought it was over, baby
We said our goodbyes
But I can't go a day, without your face
Goin' through my mind
In fact, not a single minute
Passes without you in it
Your voice, your touch, memories of your love
Are with me all of the time
Let me let go, baby
Let me let go
If this is for the best
Why are you still in my heart
Oh, you're still in my soul
Let me let go
I talked to you the other day
Oh, looks like you've make your escape
You, you put us behind, no matter how I hard try
I can't do the same
Let me let go
It's just isn't right
I've been two thousand miles
Down a dead-end road
Let me let go
The lights of this strange city are shinin'
But they don't hold, no fascination for me
I try to find the bright side, baby
But everywhere I look
Everywhere I turn
You're all I see
Let me, let me let go, baby, won't you
Let me let go
It's just isn't right
I've been two thousand miles
Down a dead-end road
Oh, let me let go, darlin', won't you
I just gotta know
(Let me let go)
(Oh, I gotta know)
If this is for the best
Why are you still in my heart
You're still in my soul, let me let go
Why don't you let me let go
Let me let go, ooh... - Hudba
Best version of this song. The emotion Faith put in this song makes me feel like broken inside everytime listen to it.
I'm a country boy, but I still prefer this version over the Country one.
Love the original version, this one is awesome too. I could see this version added to the CRY album. 🌠 Faith does Soul music the best. She shines the best in the album CRY. She's needs another album like that one💙
David Foster and I are about the same age, both have played professionally but I am not at his level. I am glad the “Hit makers’” version didn’t come out first. Faith’s band is seasoned and knows and understands every nuance of her spectacular voice. Her male keyboard player harmonizes with her perfectly.and the tempo is spot on. Begging you Faith, stick with CW, never forget who brung ya!
In the summer of 1999, every night when I left work, this song would be playing on the local top 40 radio station. 11 PM was always the perfect time for a torch song.
heard this the "Message in a Bottle " OST in the late 90's
To bad this video is removed from David Fosters site. He did magic once again. If I were Faith I would re release this song with David. It would be a hit all over again.
I always call this the " R&B Mix " it just has such an r&b flavor and it is my favorite, Faith pours deep vocal emotion in this version!
This version just Hits different....
Pass couple of years, I've been avoiding listening to this version because it had lots of history behind it.
Yet, much like Casablanca when Ilsa asked Sam to play the song, a young woman in a piano bar in New Jersey played a rendition of this version. My God!
Of all the saloons, of all the gin joints, in all the world, this lady sings the song I pray to never hear again...to stop thinking about my ex.
I now hear it once more, confronting my fears and heartbreak, going about asking "why"?
At the end of a Johnny Walker Blue bottle, numbs the pain of a lady disappearance and a song's refrain.
Love this version
Beautiful song
Love this version over the country one
I prefer this version
My favorite version ❤️
Awesome
Looks like this version is one you either love or hate. I guess it depends on which one you heard first and/or most often. I generally did not listen to country music and the only time I ever heard this version was on Casey Kasem's AC version of American Top 20 (which someone else mentioned), so that's why I prefer this version. Country music fans will tend to prefer the original version that Faith sang with Vince Gill (which I think is a good one too and, again, if I had heard that one first and often enough, I would probably prefer it over this one).
Love this version . Plays at the heart strings . Beautiful 💛
Great song! Glad that someone posted the David Foster version of this song - all of the others were the country version of the song. I've heard this version many more times, since it was on American Top 20 for about a half a year, peaking at #7 in the summer of 1999. Anyway, thanks, TheJeffjw for posting this!
Ulij20 I like both, but I wish this version was on Apple Music. Then I would add it to my playlist of classic AC music.
This was released on an album called There You’ll Be
Love this song
Love this Version, So much better !!
My favorite version of this song. Brilliant!
There should be an instrumental
Robbie Calvo the original composer...still Nashvegas doesnt let that fact be a problem.
so inferior to the original country version with vince. it really does drag.
Your hearing needs to be checked!!
P
Way too slow ! It needs to push more !!! Just sayin' !
I like the version with Vince Gill's incredible harmonies much better. This version seems to drag.
This doesn't even come close to her original version with Vince Gill... This is not listenable...
This ain't as good as Faith Hill
RS Woods (confused) This IS Faith Hill.
This is a much classier version. Foster is a genius.
okay not to be rude but I dislike this version. okay, I love her singing style here but I hate the music arrangement
Love this version
