    Hmmm I think I can handle doing this. My first thought was exactly what you said "Fill it with dirt" lol. so my problem area is from a riding lawn mower that got stuck. i never had the dirt to fill it back at the time and now like you said the grass is growing from the lower part and my push mover just cant get to it. So I will try this method now that i know i can use top after i cut the section out. Thanks for making this video. I'm also in GA. Milledgeville area.

    in your video you said you should have added a second bag. your final product looks good. why do you think a second bag would have been better? also, what size bag of top soil was that? thank you for the video, it was very informative. i will definitely be doing it this way.

    • @TightWadDIY
      @TightWadDIY  Před 3 lety +2

      When filling holes you want it to be slightly mounded because the loose dirt you added will settle over time. Mine was still slightly concaved and one more bag would have fixed that. It is also likely the hole will return over time as the tree stump continues to break down.

    • @TightWadDIY
      @TightWadDIY  Před 3 lety +2

      The bags are probably 25lb bags.I can’t remember.

    I have a bunch of holes in my backyard because my dog loves to dig, the holes are really deep and just mostly dirt. Do I just use top soil and let it go? Or use lawn soil?

    • @TightWadDIY
      @TightWadDIY  Před 3 lety

      You can use fill dirt then top soil the last few inches or just top soil the whole way. It doesn’t really matter.

    if you use sand first then soil then replace the sod, would the hole be less likely to sink again? Based on the guess that our holes are not due to a decomposing stump...

    • @TightWadDIY
      @TightWadDIY  Před 2 měsíci +1

      You will have to do it again. It’s likely an old stump that continues to rot and decompose. You could try to dig it out.

    • @TightWadDIY

      Yes. I suggest watering it in after you fill it again. It sounds like you have a larger hole that you can’t see. It will definitely settle over time.
