    Nice video. Need more videos where people actually work in boots. Love that! I tried to order these, wait time was just too long for me. Went with the Whites Perry Select. Still have to wait ten weeks, but I just didn’t want to wait 6,7,8-10 months. The leather from Nicks that I wanted was out of stock, which was going to add time as well. Great review.

    The Thorogood polyurethane Christy looking sole can be ordered separately . They are almost as soft as the Christy, but are much more durable and longer lasting . In fact, the sole actually outlasted my Thorogood boots themselves, because the canvas inner lining of the Thorogood boots tore loose; making them unwearable . I pretty much wasted my time keeping the leather on the Thorogood's in shape with Obenaufs, because an inner lining failure took them out .

      @Salt999  Před rokem +2

      You are right, I found that sole didn’t have as much traction as the Christy. They do last longer! And I had the same problem that’s why I went with nicks

      You should def get a pair of nw boots from any major manufacturer.
      They are legit.
      I have a pair of JK forefronts. They have custom boots but also sell what they call, ready to ship boots. They are not actually ready to ship. They are made the exact same way as the custom boots but are more generic sizing. I.e you can get 3 different widths and any size length obv. If you need a custom upper, i.e., skinny instep or larger instep, I'd recommend a custom boot. They also have a newer line called the 300. Look just like the Forefronts, but are a couple hundred less. They are made well, not as good as the other boots. It's still better than almost every off the shelf boot or at least as good.
      I got the Bison Forefronts, and I have never seen leather with such amazing detail before.
      I highly recommend them if you are in a hurry. Nicks and franks take forever to get a pair made. Jk, even if you dont expedite the boots (I would say not to spend that money because they generally get right on them anyway), you will have them in a months time.
      I ordered mine on November 15th and received them on December 19th. Had I chosen quicker shipping option id of had them in a month or less.
      Very good work. Nick's is an amazing company. Most say Franks is the best right now if you're super serious and don't mind waiting.

      @@todtalk3912 thank you for the tips, I have heard of the jk boots and only heard amazing things about them. Nicks do take forever to come in one big downside but it’s okay. I do want to invest in franks I’ve heard they make a true masterpiece!

    Allot of folks hear nightmare stories about breaking in boots with the foot bleeding, giant blisters etc. But I find that if you got the right size, like it sounds you did it's never that bad.

    Bending the boots in half is a bizarre test to show how good a boot is, if you are roofing or kneeling constantly you want the boots to bend at the toe. If you are bending the boot in half it doesn't mean much - you are just proving that you managed to bend a fiberglass, steel or leather shank inside the boot that is put in so you can be more stable on stairs and ladders, it doesn't make a boot necessarily bad or good.

    • @deanhawk6050
      @deanhawk6050 Před rokem +1

      The shank doesn't go down that far . The leather you see is the mid sole its thick. And inside the boot there is a another piece of leather just as thick . The 2 pieces are tough to bend. It very much means a superior quality product indeed. No synthetic insides.

    • @mad0uche
      @mad0uche Před rokem

      @@deanhawk6050 I don't know what you are talking about, the shank doesn't go down that far? The shank is in the middle of the boot.

    • @deanhawk6050
      @deanhawk6050 Před rokem

      If a boot has fiber glass or metal shank it's about 4 inches long. Under the arch. Not the length of the whole boot. A good 2 piece leather shank is probably around 6 inches long.

    • @mad0uche
      @mad0uche Před rokem

      @@deanhawk6050 Yes, and the arch is in the middle of the boot, which is where the shank is, which is why trying to bend boots in half is a dumb test to show the quality of a boot.
