    You need to include the adjustment range for the arm rests more in depth imo. The single biggest problem with these chairs is that the damn arm rests often will not go low enough to clear the desk, so you can actually get a decent gaming position. Things like Noble and Secret Lab Titan is therefore completely unusable without modifications in my opinion, and I wonder how they could make such huge oversights. Would be great to know if something like this is better.

    FYI, anything that doesn't "click" into place and can lock at *any* angle is likely a friction based mechanism. For a number of reasons, I've found friction based systesm to be a LOT less durable. The clamping hardware in a friction mechanism can stretch or fail over many uses, resulting in a complete loss of locking. Also, if friction surfaces fail for whatever reason, that's also tough. However notch systems tend to require a LOT less maintenance and be a lot more forgiving to wear/tear and a lack of maintenance.

    I have this chair. Bought it after seeing a CZcams video raving about it. I wanted to love it, but I just can’t. Maybe for your height it’s great, idk. I am 5’10’’ @ 160lbs. The seat is too shallow even when extended forward (which creates a discomfort in the lower back). Additionally, the arm rests are at a height where they are too far forward to sit comfortably with your arms on them extending to desk and do not lower far enough to pull under the desk (to rest arms on desk). Removing them is not an option because all the functionality of the triggers are integrated into the armrests. I ended up shelling out the money for an Embody. Wish I had known how worth the money Herman Millers were prior to dropping the money on 3 dxracers and the neuechair.

      @Ahnestly  Pƙed 3 lety +7

      Hm that's interesting. My 5'10 friend found it pretty comfortable and was shocked at how good it felt when he sat down in it. As for HM...yeah man...people don't believe me when I'm like no, it's just a better chair. I get that people don't want to spend that much but I'm testing thousand dollar chairs and I'm like yeahhh this is not worth it relative to a HM chair. I will say though that I know 50 year old men who swear by gaming chairs. An elder at my church who's a programmer has a gaming chair and said it saved his back!

    Thanks for a through review. A key metric I always look at in other products is the warranty offered. Says a lot about what the engineers have said to the CFO about the product. Herman Miller's 12-year warranty and 30-day refund is pretty strong.

    • @zeta42
      @zeta42 Pƙed 3 lety +20

      Agree. I looked into the warranty on the Neue Chair that Secret Labs uses and it reads:
      NEUE does cover the following under this warranty:
      NEUECHAIR: Skeletal Frame, Aluminium Frame, Wheelbase and Polyamide Frame - [12 years]
      NEUECHAIR: Lumbar Support and Central Mechanism Hub - [5 years]
      NEUECHAIR: Armrest Mechanism, Casters Mechanism and Gas Lift - [3 years]
      NEUE does NOT cover the following under this warranty:
      -Defects in Products purchased through unauthorized resale, remarketing or distribution.
      -Normal wear and tear including but not limited to the wear and tear or degradation of mesh, top portion of armrests, lumbar pillow, casters exterior, ControlShiftℱ paddles, variance of tightness of mechanisms.
      -Damage caused by a service performed by anyone who is not officially acting as an employee, representative or sub-contractor of NEUE.
      -Any damage to the Products or to any property or person, caused by failure to adhere to NEUE’s published instructions and guidelines, accident, abuse, misuse, water, flood, fire, or other acts of nature or external causes (including, without limitation, use of the Product in unsuitable environments or conditions).
      -Defects in a Product that has been modified or altered, including the substitution of any unauthorized components for use in place of the original components in the Product.
      -Defects in a Product caused by failure to use, apply, install, reconfigure or maintain the Product or component according to NEUE’s published instructions.
      -Minor aesthetic and cosmetic abnormalities or variations which do not affect the functionality of the Product.
      So the parts that will actually wear out are only on a 3 & 5 year warranty and they have listed enough under the NOT covered clause to reject pretty much any issue you run into.
      Herman Miller is a 12 year parts & labor on the whole chair, no questions asked.
      Something to consider for sure.

    J'ai acheté la chaise. Pour ceux qui passent par là, voici mon avis pour 1,71m/69kg
    Ce qui fait que je regrette cet achat, en plus d'avoir essayé une chaise "chaise sitek confort 7770" plus confortable chez office dépÎt et qui coute 200e de moins et qui est supérieur sur tous les points.
    Les moins:
    - Surtout, le soutien lombaire trop petit qui donne une sensation de dureté dans le bas du dos...des fois. Pas agréable au final.
    - La hauteur max des accoudoirs n'est pas de 80cm comme annoncée mais de 77,5cm voire 76 qd je suis assis. :((
    - L'assise en mesh qui n'est pas aussi confortable que de la mousse (et de la chaise que j'ai essayé qui est mousse/mesh)
    - Retour beaucoup trop cher (20% + le transport, cout total: 400€ via UPS !!). Ce qui m'oblige Ă  la garder finalement. Non en fait, je l'ai revendu et achetĂ© la sitek.
    - Les accoudoirs (2D only) qui ne sont pas reculables pour s'approcher d'avantage du bureau.
    - Les accoudoirs qui n'ont pas de verrouillage. La position max fait qu'ils redescendent tt en bas (rarement qd mĂȘme)
    - Les roulettes moquette pas adapté à mon sol (mais je pense que c'est du 11cm standard pour pouvoir les changer facilement, j'espÚre, je ne suis pas sur....)
    - Filtre les avis negatifs sur leur site, ils n'ont pas mis le mien.
    Les plus:
    - L'appui tĂȘte quasi obligatoire si vous achetez la chaise. un rĂ©gal de confort et de rĂ©glage
    - Les gùchettes au accoudoir, gadget mais facile d'accÚs pour les différents utilisateurs
    - Les accoudoirs trĂšs large, confortable.
    - Le support en alu, trĂšs quali.
    - Elle reste confortable (sauf l'assise au niveau des jambes au niveau du mesh et de la mousse qui le soutient). J'ai des fourmis ds les jambes avec. Un comble !

      I have this chair almost a year, and it got to the point where it physically hurts to sit only after 3 hours. Mesh is the weakest point and after while its really saggy, the plastic frame of sitting area pushes to legs from sides. Also the lumbar support is real joke too it wont stay in higher positions, always sliding down and also does not support back, when the mesh on back side gets saggy real quick too, your back starts to sink more and that lumbar support push really hard. As of the rest, whole frame and mechanism for tilting and "pedals" under armrests are really good but its not worth the money, now I am waiting for Herman Miller Mirra 2 to be delivered and I cant wait to get rid of this chair. I hope that my review helps. Wish I knew before because it was quite an investment, I paid 750 €, and I finally saved money for new chair that I already ordered.

    You're often an objective dude in your reviews and say a lot of ahnest stuff, so I'd love to see some reviews from you on some saddle chairs. Some sources claim that they're the healthiest kind of chairs because they emulate the posture of a person when horse-riding, and humans have done horse-riding for uncountable eons, and so on.
    Also, I would really, really love to see a video where you describe the differences between the Herman Miller Aeron Fixed PostureFit and the Aeron Adjustable PostureFit, because there's a strangely significant price gap between both chairs or options. And there's very little information on the web about the differences (I did try searching several times), so that could be a gap that you can fill when it comes to relevant search results. It would be great to know if it's possible to upgrade from the Fixed to the Adjustable, or does the Adjustable PostureFit has some knob that's built into the base of the seat or what.
    And thank you, Dan.

Second, I reached out for the Capisco chair but got nothing...I personally wouldn't use a saddle chair, so not sure if I would review one...I can if someone was willing to send one to me for sure! Third - I think you're using incorrect terminology for the lumbar supports. There is the posturefit, which came on the classic aerons, and then the Posturefit SL, which come on the remastered aerons. Both posturefits are adjustable (only in/out). I prefer the classic's posturefit. The posturefit SL comes already installed on a back rest, but i can't for certainty if you can replace the back on a classic aeron.

      @@Ahnestly Thank you for responding and explaining all that.
      Regarding the PostureFit versions that I mentioned, check out this store, which has branches in several EU countries. This is the "fixed PostureFit" version, which costs €1000 new:
      www.dpj-workspace.com/se/ergonomiset-toimistotuolit/2745-herman-miller-aeron-fixed-posturefit-support-.html

      www.dpj-workspace.com/se/ergonomiset-toimistotuolit/5361-herman-miller-aeron-adjustable-posturefit-support.html
      See if you can maybe use the Google Translate extension on Google Chrome to translate the language of the pages, or if you can change the country to an English-speaking one, but the names of the chairs are mostly in English.

      Very late response to this comment, I know, but in my line of work employers almost always give us saddle chairs to use because they're meant to be better for your posture. From my experience they are a bit better but not by much. Now I've only used cheaper shitty ones and most haven't had backrests so I end up slouching a lot but I can say for certain that back support is a way more important aspect to chair design than the saddle. The main advantage of it is that you can go waaaay higher with it and still remain "seated" in the chair because you can just have your legs go basically straight down into a semi-standing position. I'd be intrigued to try an expensive and well made saddle chair with good back support but from my experience there is only a small benefit!

I think part of the reason is i'm only 130lbs, so it feels too firm for me. So I'm looking for something that's really comfortable and that has a great recline feature or ability to recline a good amount.
    Between the Embody and the Neue (if price isn't an issue), is there a clear winner? Or is there a situation where you'd prefer one over the other. For example, would one be better for reclining while using a laptop? Or better for reclining w/ some popcorn and watching a movie? Or is more more comfortable for just working at the computer for several hours a day...

    Okay, so. Just wanted to state that I did watch through entire vid for your take on this chair. But, this is for the audience and I will try to be as concise as possible.
    1. DO NOT purchase expensive chairs you cannot test beforehand for your own body comfort. When you test a chair, use it for a good half hour or so, on site, if you must.
    2. The Neue mesh is nowhere close to the quality of Pellicle mesh used on the Aeron. Not even close. My Neue had sagging in less than a week which, in turn, can create uncomfortable friction and pressure. My 17+ year old Aeron has virtually no degradation at all. Still soft and taught. AND there is no coverage on mesh under Neue warranty.
    3. The non-modular lumbar support lacks in quality, being stiff plastic with little in the way of cushioning. Because of my body type(5'10', 150lbs for loose reference) and not having much for back fat, I think, the lumbar pad is inordinately uncomfortable against my spine and back. It feels like using a giant lego as a lumbar pillow. Even with seat pan in it's forwardmost position and seat back in it's most rear. And again, cannot be removed. Any adjustments one can make to lumbar support, seat pan and seat back are all minimal.
    4. IF you do not end up wanting to keep the chair, it is a pain in the ass and quite expensive to ship back. Also whatever division they have for Neue CS is not great. You first must contact them about a return. Wait for return email on instructions, which can take days. Then you're required to dismantle the chair with the assistance of tools you may or may not have and it can take some force, all the while worrying about damaging a component that will cause problems with getting your refund. Then pack the chair back in the box it came in, in the exact way it came out. Take a picture and send to Secret Lab for approval. Wait potentially a couple days again to gain approval for return. Long story made shorter, I bought Obsidian edition with headrest. Came out to about $720. Total cost to have it shipped back from NY to Utah, along with 20% product assessment fee...$500+. Not to mention the time invested in trying to obtain a successful return, in the first place.
    5. Not telling you not to look into this chair but..DO NOT PURCHASE EXPENSIVE CHAIRS YOU CANNOT TEST BEFOREHAND FOR YOUR OWN BODY COMFORT.

    • @Ahnestly
      @Ahnestly  Pƙed 3 lety +1

But, maybe even more importantly, how much time had she spent using it. My first days in the chair from light to moderate use, I felt no discernable problems. It wasn't until I started using it as my main "all day" chair that I started to experience certain issues. Sorry man, haha, I appreciate your content overall. I think one of the only chairs that come with a headrest that has good adjustability is the ErgoTune Supreme. But unfortunately, that chair is only available in Singapore and Australia.

    • @WhitePointerGaming
      @WhitePointerGaming Pƙed 2 lety

      I'm in Australia and I heard good things about the Ergotune Supreme so I got one but ended up returning it after a few weeks. The main issue is that it's a mesh seat with the front of it padded which was a bit firmer than the mesh, and what was said in this review about that padding digging into your hamstrings after a while was what happened with the Ergotune for me. Except it was worse because unlike this chair and many others, the front of the chair was basically flat and didn't slope down in that typical "waterfall" design. I couldn't sit in it for any real length of time as a result, my legs and knees would get sore after only 20 minutes or so and I couldn't find a comfortable calibration no matter how much I tried. I didn't have any problems with their refund process though so there's that.

    • @dylanloo9856
      @dylanloo9856 Pƙed 2 lety

      @@WhitePointerGaming Wat bruh, I'm in Australia too and I got this chair about 3 months ago and I'm absolutely loving it. I notice that the pad at the front of the seat is actually not as aggressive as the Neuechair tho. Like when Dan sits in the Neuechair at 11:22, u can see the mesh just before the pad creasing/folding up quite aggressively. The Ergotune Supreme on the other hand, does not. Therefore, I find that the transition from the mesh seat to the foam padding is actually quite seamless and I don't notice the foam padding underneath my thighs at all. Even if I hang my legs off the ground and let the weight of my legs rest on the foam padding, it's not uncomfortable at all for me. Maybe heavier people will experience this issue more. But I haven't seen anyone complaining about this issue for the Ergotune Supreme so far besides u. Even A2K who is on the heavy side, did not mention this issue at all when he reviewed this chair: czcams.com/video/cXKJGg8cCQQ/video.html. May I know what's your height and weight? Mine is 183cm and 52kg.

    • @WhitePointerGaming
      @WhitePointerGaming Pƙed 2 lety +1

      @@dylanloo9856 Yeah it was disappointing. I'm about 177cm, around 90kgs and certainly didn't expect any issues like that but the Ergotune just made my legs very sore, that front padding just dug into my hamstrings and caused me a lot of discomfort (which likely wouldn't have happened had the seat front used a waterfall design). I tried to calibrate the chair as much as I could over a period of about 3 weeks but couldn't find a comfortable configuration. I couldn't sit it in for more than 20 minutes or so and I needed to return it. Also even though the armrests were supposed to be stiffer on the newer model, I found they still moved out of position accidentally far too easily when I leaned on them.

    • @dylanloo9856
      @dylanloo9856 Pƙed 2 lety

      @@WhitePointerGaming Damn wat a shame. Regarding the armrests tho, there r times where I leaned on them and they move, but that happens extremely rarely coz I normally just rest my arms flat on top of the armrests. If u rest ur arms close to the edge where it slopes downwards, then yea there is a higher chance of moving them. I do wish they could be lower at the lowest height tho coz they still rub against the underside of my desk when I push my chair under my desk. Also I wish the armrests can be adjusted further back or at least follow your body when u recline coz my elbows have pretty much no support at all when I'm reclined which is not comfortable at all. But overall, I love the armrests on this chair.

    Hi there, thanks for putting the time for this review.
    However, some of the features that you've missed covering:
    1. Aeron can also become an lounge chair as well. You can lean it back and comfortably watch a movie for all it's duration
    2. The rocking movement comparation, which is another key feature to consider. The word outhere is that Aeron has the best, smoothest one out of all high-end desktop chairs
    3. Another focal point, also a key selling point, is that the Aeron it's a modular design. This means that, practically, it's a lifetime chair for the fact that you can always easily DIY order and replace either the seating or the backrest
    4. The producer's warranty also worths mentioning. Aeron's got a shocking 12.5 years. How about Neuechair?
    Can we all agree this is a paid review, therefore, the above points have been omitted?
    All the best luck!

    Since then :
    The 2 armrest pad cracked on the side, replaced by Secretlabs, is a comon issue, and my new pads begin to do the same....
    One armrest got break and fall all the way down, the whole chair go replaced by Secretlabs.
    The caster are horrible, and they have a non standard axes size
    The Mesh is scratchy like the green side of a sponge...
    Overall, that was not a good experience for me, i have order an Embody to replace it.

    P.S.: Just to add a note to the SecretLab marketing, they try to pass the concept that they develped the chair and it's sort of german engineering when this chair is just a rebranded GT-Chair (China). Vertagear also does this with their "Trigger" chair, same as Neue with a different color.
