and let's not forget Isildur's last desperate move of cutting off his fingers

Could Aragorn have taken the ring to mount doom himself? As ringbearer? Or was Frodo's resistance to it higher overall

    •  Před rokem +27

I really don't think he could. Hobbits are simpler creatures, they don't want or need power, so the Ring had very little to work with Frodo. We don't see it in the movie, but from Rivendell, Aragorn's mind was set on becoming king and it was his humility that let Frodo leave. If he had accepted Frodo's offer, he would be corrupted.

Unlikely. The greater the power of the person wielding the Ring, the stronger a hold it has over them. That’s why hobbits, a uniquely meek and simple race are less susceptible to its power. Isildur himself bore the Ring with him for over a year before he realised it was taking him over, and that was when Sauron was (temporarily) vanquished.

Plus the ring practically has a failsafe where no one could willingly destroy it

I don't think that's true. While I think hobbits are naturally resistant we do see it corrupting them. I mean we see Golem kill his friend for it. I am not sure how close the movies where to the books but we see Frodo fail in the end and only though Golem and Sam does it get destroyed. @@danielriley7380

He is a numenorean and they're greater than men. Only a hobbit could take the ring and even then frodo couldn't destroy it, Sauron knew no one could destroy it. Eru had to trip gollum to destroy it

Has to be because when Aragorn grabs it after Pippen passes out he immediately just corkscrews down into a heap.

    • @hurin_thalion11

he used the Palantir from Orthanc, and showed himself to Sauron in the Hornburg, to challenge Sauron and force his hand before his plans were ready
but the scene occurred in the throne room of Minas Tirith in the movie

@@uncleirohofthefirenation5987 in the books, they never were at the Battle of the Pellenor Fields. In the movies they were sort of a deus ex machina...saving all.. in the books they never even made it to that battle, they fought at the port of Pelargir, about 40 miles south of the city, and Aragorn dismissed them there, and he showed up with an army of his people from the south of Gondor to the Pellenor Fields.
other than that point I liked the way they were portrayed
