Evelyn is absolutely delightful. Very knowledgeable.
Very. She came here from 1919. 👍
I met Evelyn at a seminar at Mystic seaport around 2012. She was working on the Morgan restoration and showed that she is also pretty good at swinging a sledge hammer
Evelyn is delightful and her museum is on my bucket list
As it should be! It's very nicely curated. We recently filmed a seminar at the Herreshoff Museum with Evan Ide, Bonhams Senior Specialist and Pre-War automobile expert/restorer. It's a great presentation about steam engines in boats and cars. We also have a seminar filmed with Evelyn, all about boats and points in their history where they intertwine with the automobile! If these topics interest you, consider becoming a Audrain Museum member! You will gain access to a members-only portal that will feature special content such as these seminars. We hope to see you there! www.audrainautomuseum.org/become-a-member-archive
Always wondered how he built so many . thank you for the great history.
Good evening Donald . Evelyn is definitely the Captain of this ship ! And l noticed David is wearing his deck shoes . Donald , it looks like your out of your depth !!! I live in Teignmouth , Devon in England . There was a local builder, Morgan Giles who built similar boats and during WW2 built MTB's (Motor Torpedo Boats ) and in the 1960's
Monaco Cruisers , very luxurious crafts, that could be seen in Monaco .So there are similarities, in spite of the very different designs to suit sea conditions , that ultimately share the same goals . Thankyou Donald and Evelyn .
Best kept secret on CZcams.
Thanks!
I love you Donald but here in Indiana, Ohio, Wisconsin and especially Michigan we have the large inland seas called the Great Lakes. Come visit sometime 😊
Wonderful episode. Love visiting both museums. Evelyn's summary of H.M. Co. and the vessels was exceptional.
My two favorite museums in RI.
Beautiful wood in a museum I have to see.
You should! Come visit us! www.audrainautomuseum.org/
Another auto connection, Herreshoff and Stanley had reciprocal steam patent sharing agreements.
Nathaniel Herreshoff designed more individual steam engines than anyone. Big steam yachts were not equipped with whatever Herreshoff production engine was closest. A new engine was designed for each.
It’s funny you mention that… stay tuned.😉
What a great presentation of such an iconic boat, thank you for sharing the history with us!
And showed good taste covering up the presumably modern trailer w/a grey cloth.
Nicely done.
Great video, I really want to get there to see this exhibit.
Definitely check it out! It ends June 11th
A couple of old Johnsons would have looked nice in there. Thanks for a great video.
Cool.
Ok, but when is Cars and Cigars?
Twiddle those thumbs, man, twiddle....
Decks were often covered with canvas over a layer of white lead mixed with oil, and then painted over with leaded paints. if you want to avoid toxic chemicals stay out of a boat yard. even now. fiberglass work is just as bad.. guess garages not much better. Be careful so you can enjoy your hobby a long time.
It’s pronounced herres-hof!!
