Michael Kiske was 19 when he sang this. Best power metal singer ever.
Congratulations on discovering Helloween. Incredible band that never had much popularity here in the states. I have been a fan of theirs for 30 years and finally saw them in 2018. The singer on this song, Michael Kiske, has one of the most powerful and well known voices in rock/metal.
If you are interested in hearing more from them, then this song, Helloween - How Many Tears (United Alive) [Full HD], posted by Antere5 on CZcams, shows the bands most recent tour with original members (Kai Hansen - founding member, vocalist and guitarist, and Michael Kiske, singer after Kai) united with current lineup + all three vocalists share singing duty on this truly epic song.
Enjoy!
welcome in the world of Power Metal- you listened the GODS
I think that both parts of Keeper of the Seven Keys will impress this guy ;)
I saw Helloween live in Chicago in 2018. I was right up against the stage. Absolutely incredible.
Helloween, Venom, Celtic Frost and Bathory are, for me, the most influential bands that came from Europe in the 80's. Helloween played a huge part in the transition from Speed Metal to Power Metal; Venom and Celtic Frost took Thrash to its most extreme limits, inspiring not only Slayer and Metallica but countless of future Death and Black outfits; and finally, Bathory's Self-Titled debut is arguably the first ever Black Metal album. Later they let their creation roam around Europe while they created the subgenre today known as Viking Metal, adding folk elements and Norse-themed lyrics to their music. Without them, and countless others, Heavy Metal wouldn't be what it is today.
Helloween kickstarted the Power Metal scene in Germany, which would later inspire the Scandinavian and South American scenes. Other songs i'd reccommend from them and other similar groups are:
- Helloween - Keeper Of The Seven Keys, I Want Out, Victim Of Fate, Dr. Stein and The King for 1000 Years.
- Gamma Ray - Rebellion In Dreamland, Heading For Tomorrow, Lust For Life, Armageddon.
- Stratovarius - Black Diamond, Destiny, Phoenix, Elysium
- Sonata Arctica - Full Moon, Wolf And Raven, The End Of This Chapter, White Pearls And Black Oceans Parts 1 and 2.
- Blind Guardian - The Bard's Song, Vallhalla, Follow The Blind, Cry For Tanelorn.
- Rhapsody Of Fire - Emerald Sword, Dawn Of Victory, The Wizard's Last Rhymes, Gargoyles and Symphony Of Enchanted Lands.
Wall of text aside, great video and analysis as always!
Yes, all of this!
Lets stick with keeper of the 7 keys for now guys hahaha jk dave
They are from Germany and basically invented Power Metal, or Speed Metal, how many people called it. This song is from their third album. Please react to Helloween: Ride The Sky and Judas.🤘🏻 With their first singer and guitarist.😋
They called their music "happy metal" back then...
@@Nexaes And Speed Metal. Both is very common.😄
@@Snake3004 Lol. Well sir i think you misreading it. haPPy metal was not in common.
@@Nexaes Oh... Yeah, I've misunderstood.😅 You're right. I've heard Speed Metal more often.😋
My favourite driving a car song. But I have to beware of speeding
HELL yeah That Bass is so clear in all of Helloweens songs.
Start listening to them since 1987.. following each n every album . All the 3 singers are fantastic. Glad to watch their concert last year in Malaysia.
Just finished watchin this. Man so glad u liked em. Amazing band
The lyrics are more relevant then ever and this song is from the 80´s ... a Masterpiece in every way! Thanks for your detailed reaction
Dave understands my music on a level that very few do. Well done!
Every time I listen to this song I remember this awesome drummer. His name was Ingo Schwichtenberg and he suffered from schizophrenia and he committed suicide by jumping in front of a train in 1995.
The singer was only 20 when this came out in 1988
19 actually!
I think he was still 18 at the recording.
19

Yooooo. Getting closer to my request. Iv requested keeper of the 7 keys off the album keeper of the 7 keys part 2 the studio version about 1000 times. Bro i feel its getting to that time!!!!
still wish you would do keeper of the 7 keys
Very intense reaction. Thanks a lot! Next time check out " How many tears" or " Keeper of 7keys" in the Helloween United Alive Version 2018 Wacken. You will freak out!!! Best performance ever of this band!Greets from Germany.
Have in mind the band's from Germany, just in middle of two confronting powers during the cold war in a nuclear energy increasing world, this band is awesome
Btw, drummer Ingo comitted suicide one year after he was fired from the band, he suffered from depression and schizophrenia and refused to take medicines, it was a sad chapter for all of us fans of the band from the early days, he jumped into the railways, nearly no one except the band and family knew this, he can surely be credited as the pioneer of how to play fast power/speed metal drumming with no triggers or any kind of tech help, just pure energy and raw power
RIP Ingo "Mr. Smile"
I knew that. Heard it years lauter from a colleague of mine at a company i worked 19 years ago. His mother knew the mother of Ingo. Really sad story. In my opinion everytime, helloween is mentioned, I go should be Part of a thought too...
Perfect man, you enjoyed it! Well it is good music.
Dr Stein is a great and comedic song that has a similar message
All helloween songs have awesome. Solo’s. You need listen to old and new helloween.
Lol this song came out like 5 years before the Captain Planet cartoon. People were totes worried about the environment in the 80s too. Just the language has changed
I really liked your reaction..please react to more Helloween if you want(Sole Survivor,Halloween,Keeper of the seven Keys,How many Tears,March Of Time...) Cheers from Croatia!! :)
That reaction was fire, thx bro
que temazoooo!!!!,,,,saludos bro
Great reaction 👏
Search for the live version of the Pumpkins United DVD here on youtube.
This is one band I remember from 5 years ago when I first got into electric guitar - oh man the days
I got into Helloween 35 years ago.. They were the much better days...
I really like your interpretation, I have listened to this song for 30 years and didn't make that connection!
Hell🎃ween are the GODS of power metal!!! Please react to more!!!
Saludos desde Chile 🇨🇱🤘
Well, actually the Intro was cut. It is a song called Invitation.
You probably have heard Helloween (or someone covering them) and not realized it. Their song "I want out" is a pretty popular cover.
For more power metal I love Sonata Arctica: Replica, or Full Moon. (Just make sure to get the originals, not Ecliptica revisited...)
Or for complete randomness: Van Canto: Fear of the Dark (Cover) Van Canto is a mostly A Capella Metal band. They use a drummer as a double kick drum is pretty hard to do, but having seen SBX I now wonder if there are beatboxers that could pull one off.
I’n a simple guy. I see Helloween, I click like button.
Try helloween - how many tears ... The music and the lyric was very amazing
very good"lyric"analysis...
Looks like you enjoyed the lyrics 😉😉
The are kings...
You should check out Rag'n Bone man - Hard came the rain, he has a unique voice that I think you would Enjoy
This is a cold war song.
React to Shaman version by Andre Matos and Andi Deris, it was interesting collaboration.
React to Gamma Ray!
30?!.. What's happened to you?
People aren't more attentive to the environment now. I would say it's the opposite. People shout with loudspeakers but their lifestyles don't match their words.
Hi there PLEASE listen to Keeper Of The Seven Keys and Hocus Pocus by Helloween you'll love it. Please check it out.
