  • Onaubinisay (Walks Above the Ground), or Elder Jim Dumont, is an Ojibway-Anishinabe of the Marten Clan and originally from the Shawanaga First Nation on Eastern Georgian Bay. He is a fifth degree Midewiwin spiritual leader for the Three Fires Midewiwin Lodge and is the Chief of the Eastern Doorway. Elder Jim Dumont provided the keynote address for the Indigenous Peoples' plenary session of the Parliament of the Worlds Religions held in Toronto in November 2018. His address, given to an audience of 8000 people from religions and faiths around the world explored the themes of Spirit and Creation and the relevance of these concepts in todays world. Onaubinisay, and the Eastern Doorway of the Three Fires Midewiwin Lodge provided leadership in the development of the Indigenous Peoples Program and establishing a special, shared sacred space, the Lodge of Nations. The Lodge of Nations and the Indigenous Peoples' Program hosted Elders, teachers and knowledge keepers from Indigenous nations from across Mother Earth throughout the seven-day program.
