Wow! So impressive and a great example of going against our culture’s “get it fast and go in debt” way of building a home. You motivate me to take my time, learn, and ask for help instead of those quick buys! You’re my hero
Yes, it's impressive but a lot of Swedes are actually handy at doing a lot of the work themselves on houses to cut costs. Not all, however. My son-in-law isn't handy at all and has to hire someone for everything except changing a lightbulb. There's a British/Dutch girl who is doing something similar in Sweden and has a CZcams channel: Roaming Wild Rose. Since you are female (me too) you might be interested in a female perspective as well. 😊
Great minds think alike cause I already follow her 😍 so calming too! Thanks for the idea cause if I didn’t know her channel, I would have loved the recommendation
My husband and I live in a log home built in 1853. One great tip I would give you which is esthetically pleasing and is an amazing safety feature is to thread your electrical wiring through 1/2 inch electrical steel conduit pipe . This allows you to be able to transport power anywhere along your walls and has an industrial vibe. We painted ours black. Happy to send u pictures if you would like a visual.
You’ve done such a beautiful job creating a forever home. So warm, so comforting, so focused on what matters as we pass through this life. Just wonderful. A soon, a tiny roommate to fill your hearts. It doesn’t get better than that. Much love to you two, and your miniature version soon to be. ❤
Wow great job Kalle, this is such a change. You made this cabin a real home!! Greetings from a Canadian cabin 😊❤
It's a real pleasure to watch how you make your dreams come true 😊❤️
Seeing the progression has been such a treat! I specifically remember the kitchen remodel so vividly, time has flown!
Kale, been following your journey for about 3 years. You've done an amazing job and congrats to you both on the impending arrival of your baby. My young family and I just bought our dream homestead in the Wild West of Ireland. I hope to replicate a fraction if what you've done!
What a difference before and after! Such a beautiful place and home! Your safe haven, under the northern lights😊 🌲🌲
What you have done in just 5 years is truly MAGNIFICENT!
i would recomend you getting a tractor not even a new one just a old massey ferguson tea 21 just a small and reliable or even a volvo 425 krabat might be more common in sweden you could run a small generator in case electrity goes out pull a trailer to pull stuff like the oven you got make it gasoline so it can start during the winter
Hi Kalle, Excellent changes to your main cabin and other beautiful buildings on your property!
Congratulations on all of the new comforts you and your friends have completed!
As you mentioned, as the years go by, we all have different goals and priorities!
I know, you are looking forward to adding running water to your cabin and I wish you the very best of luck with your upcoming projects!
Most of all, wishing Christine an easy delivery with a healthy baby for you both!
everyones priorities are different, for myself, I would have preferred running water and a bathroom. You have done an amazing job with the place, I am always surprised how much stuff is left behind from previous owners
Do your preserve food from your garden in the summer? If you learned how to dry and ‘can’ your own food that you grow in your garden you could contribute a lot to your monthly food budget, and when you can it yourself you know exactly what goes into it. When we were a young family with four children in northern Canada, we would can hundreds of jars a year. We canned fruits and vegetables ( some of which we bought from other people when they were in season and they were things we didn’t grow at all or not enough of), but we also canned fish, homemade soups and pasta sauces, salsas, pickles and relishes, and while we didn’t it is possible to can meat.
Where you would run into trouble is that with no heat and running water, cans would freeze, which would obviously be a problem! However, you could easily dehydrate a lot of fruits, vegetables ,soups, stews and even meat to help get you through those long winter months ! Something for you to think about going forward, especially as you have a family and more mouths to feed. It also brings a sense of joy to know that you are producing and preserving for the physical needs of your .
I am very much enjoying watching your Utube channel, and admire your perseverance. We have best friends who lived with 5 children in northern Canada with almost no insulation and heated by wood stoves. As they had running water all winter they had to set an alarm to get up multiple times throughout the night to ‘stoke ‘ the stoves to prevent the water from freezing. Many times when we visited them in the winter both of our families would sleep on mats in the kitchen where the heat was as the bedrooms and living room was freezing. I have to admit, I don’t miss doing that at all!!
It turned out very beautiful. While still being in a rustic style. Love it! ❤
Wow it's absolutely amazing to see how it all began! ☺This will be such good memories for you and your family later on and even now it's amazing to see the before and after 🏡🌲✨
Great job Kalle! It was so nice to see what your cabin once was and what it has become! Thank you!
What a magical journey! Thank you for taking us along for the ride! In many ways, it's the perfect way to close out the year and renew our hope for the new year! I ordered your digital book a while ago and this has inspired me to go through it again! Thank you for your artistry and kind spirit!
You’ve worked so hard! I’ve been here for the journey and my prayer is that you have all the happiness to the fullest ❤Merry Christmas 🎄
Bed sky = canopy...very cosy. Amazing transformations. You work so hard that sauna must feel wonderful at the end of the day. You also have amazing friends, nut that does not surprise me. I grew up in an isolated sommunity in northern Manitoba, Canada and, living up there, friends really had to rely on each other. Those communities are very special, particularly the people.
What a treat! Absolutely wonderful video. Thank you and Merry Christmas!
Very nice job Kalle! I greatly admire what you have done! Excellent work! You Scandinavians are sure obsessed with coziness! But I guess your winters make that a strong value and necessity!
As much as you have struggled with your project, I am sure you have learned tons! And it is your creation now, not just a cabin you bought! I think what you are doing in life is so much more meaningful than what is seen in the lives of people who work in business, say, and buy everything they need. Buy endlessly, in fact! You often make what you need. That is a demonstration of resourcefulness as opposed to the helpless emptiness seen in lives of so many money hungry worker/consumers! You rock!
This was a great video. It is amazing what you have done with the cabin. I wish you and Christine a Merry Christmas and may 2024 bring you both all the blessings you deserve!
We call those cable rolls, spools in English. Love the cabin
What a beautiful cosy home you have created through ingenuity, creativity and hard Labour. As you say running water and a bathroom will complete this wonderful home, especially with a young child
Love the renovations you have done and keeping everything as organic and reusing pieces for other purposes! 🙌🏻
I always look forward to your videos. Inspirational and allows me to feel as though I am in nature when I have to be sitting behind my desk. Thank you for brining some outside spirit indoors for me.
This video is like an early Christmas present. So exciting. Thanks for taking us along the journey!
Merry Christmas ♥ dear Christine and Kalle and thank you for bringing over your lovely life experiences into our homes ♥
Happy New Year guys!!!🎆🥂 My best wishes for 2024. Looking forward to your future projects. Love and be safe!🤗😘🌼🇻🇪
Such a great video Kalle! So fun to see the difference between then and now.
You did an amazing job. It looks so warm and inviting.
The before and afters are wonderful so cosy, painting the ceiling in the living room made a huge difference, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.😊
What an amazing sense of accomplishment you must feel. Your home is so nice, and cozy. The improvements you have made look really nice! You are gonna have many stories to tell your son some day. Wishing you and Christine the merriest, cozy Christmas ❤
Really enjoy your content and video graphs Kalle.
Beautiful job over these last few years I've been watching you! Such a treat to see it documented.
Without knowing if anyone else has mentioned this or not, but...regarding mice, one of the best deterrents is to have a cat (or cats). I don't know if Tuss and Nala have too strong a prey drive to tolerate cats, but that will definitely solve the mouse problem and also provide some lovely companionship (and foot/bed warmers as well!)
Where we live here in Hawaii (vastly different than Sweden!) rats and mice are a huge problem, and our small dog's presence did nothing to deter them, but having a couple of the local semi-feral cats "adopt" us has worked a treat. They catch numerous rats and mice from our property every week and keep them out of the house.
Anyways! Cheers, and best to you and Christine!
What an amazing journey Kalle!! 🌷🎉🕊 really really well done and congratulations 🎊 congratulations to you both blessings for the next exciting era 🎉
You've done tremendous work on your cabin with all of the renovations and cozy touches. Love your sauna, your movie area, the open stairway, kitchen and living room. So much fresher and full of light! Have a Merry Christmas and World Peace in 2024. 🎄☃🎅🌍☮
Love the walk through!! Thank you for the tour...the renovations are beautiful! Nice idea in using the cable spools in the kitchen!
Wow. That cabin has come a long way thanks to your (and your family's and friends') hard work. It all looks so cozy. I love the cable reel cornercabinets in the kitchen and the media room.
It’s absolutely beautiful. I love what you’ve done with it.
Wow Kalle you have created a magical home I have so loved watching your transformation of this beautiful home and property, so excited for your new addition to your family.Thank you so much for sharing this journey with all of us. Happy Holidays.
Your hard work is amazing....what a difference! Thank you so much for sharing. It is beginning to look cozy and comfortable. Must have been a great learning experience. What a blessing that you had some help. Blessings to you!
I hope that you appreciate all the progress you made since 2017... A lot! You should be proud of your self and I am sure you will continue to make your house more and more confortable, with time! Have a wonderful Christmas and New Year to both of you and to no 3 on the way! Thank you for sharing your adventures! 💖👌🎄🥰💫
What a cool video. ❤ I always wondered what the cabin looked like when you got. The first video I saw on your channel was the one where you were building the table out of the kitchen floor. Have been subscribed ever since. 😊 We are starting to restore a 110 year old farmhouse this spring. Your videos are always very inspiring. Thanks for your great content. 🙂
This is gorgeous. Thank you for the tour!!
What an amazing transformation. I love what you’ve created. I hope you will all be super happy always xx
This might be my favourite video yet! You've put in so much work, and the cabin looks amazing - I've been following the channel since about when Christine moved in, and even since then the difference is incredible. What a beautiful home!
What a beautiful scenery you guys should be very proud of what you’ve done I could only imagine the time that it took like you said to do all this, but just think when the little ones come, you have all those to explain to them and show them what daddy did and mommy did. Congratulationsand merry Christmas❤🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄
So many things you’ve been hiding from us, Kalle! The kitchen and your fabulous bedroom, just to name my favorite things. Merry Christmas to you and Christine too! I’m so enjoying your journey. So worthwhile. 😊
You have done wonders! Great job! It is beautiful 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Wonderful walkthrough Kalle. You’ve worked your magic on the cabin and really made it an amazing home and place to live.
Another fine video Kalle. You should be proud of all you have accomplished -- and so well -- in 5 years. Congratulations!
You should be very proud of your accomplishments Kalle. Your cabin is quite cozy and rustic. Great job!
just wow! I can't get over how beautifully you renovated the cabin. I can't find words to express my admiration. Just beautiful!❤
I'm very impressed with what you have done Kalle...you've turned this rustic cabin into quite a nice and cozy home. :)
Wow, you did a great job renovating the cabin, I love it!
Such a great video. Really fun and cool to see the comparisons and timeframes etc. All the best, cheers!
You've come a long way, Kalle. The house looks fantastic, and you should be proud of your work... but don't stop. Keep going, and keep bringing us along. Peace to you from Alaska.
Loved the before and after and I also loved the video on your other channel! You SHOULD be very proud of the way it turned out! One of the most relaxing and tranquil experiences you have created so far! I have been following you for quite some time now and you just keep getting better and better as time goes by.
Merry Christmas 🎄 ♥️🎄♥️🎄♥️🎄
Beautiful Cabin. So cosy and warm. You are very talented in many ways.
A wonderful home for a family.
Thank you for showing us your achievement.
Oh this was so nice to see. I am not a long time subscriber so to see what you've done and hear a bit of the history was very nice. You both should be so proud. You are rich beyond measure. I am off to see your second channel. Cant wait!
What an amazing transformation, not only your house but in you too!
I think both you and the house needed each other. The house needed you to get it back to its former glory, and you needed the house to find that inner happiness that you really deserved.
So so glad you recorded that first day, it’s like you knew it would be a big journey
Merry Christmas to you and your family Kalle. Have a great time!
In the kitchen their called cable reels and ‘mouses’ made me smile way better than mice. The house is very beautiful well done
Such wonderful work and so inspiring!
I love your cabin! You have done an amazing job fixing it up and making it your home. It's beautiful! :)
Yeah it looks a lot better now, love the snow ❤❤
So beautiful! I been watching from the beginning❤ Love everything
Good on you Kalle, I have been following your journey from the beginning and it was amazing to watch this ‘recap’. We have gotten so many ideas and tips from you - both in terms of construction ideas and in terms of lifestyle. You and Christine are role models for a better future and we thank you for that, and for being such a great couple and really nice people. Take care, happy Christmas and we all look forward to a productive, positive 2024. Catch you later.
Hello Kalle, You've come a long way in renovations. You're cabin looks wonderful looking forward to the next video.
I do agree the couch is the heart of our home. Like you, I never had that. I am now 51 and my daughter is 9 and the couch is our cozy place. We watch shows and movies on Netflix we both like and have snack parties or read or nap together, play card ad board games, always with so many blankets and pillows and the occasional cat.
You’ve done a beautiful job, I’m happy for you and Christine. I look forward to watching your journey continue.
Kale
You have done an excellent job with your cabin! It is nice and cozy and it’s home! There is a saying “ There is no place like home “.
God bless you and your better half and soon arrival!
Merry Christmas!🌲🌲🌲❤️
It was so beautiful in 2017, and you’ve really taken it to the next level over the years! What a lovely home!
Please never give up on CZcams! I adore your videos guys! Both yours and Christina's!!! Bless your baby toooooo
Such a goog job you've done ! It's really beautifull ! You can be proud of you !👏
Wow, I started watching your videos almost from the beginning, 2018 or so? And it doesn't feel like that long ago but seeing the comparison shows just how much you've accomplished. I hope you still feel like you have the simplicity you were seeking. It's been a joy to watch your journey. All the best to you and your growing family in 2024!
What a lovely job you did! It is so relaxing watching your videos! Thank you😊 from USA
I've been following you for a while now but it's so nice and impressive to see the before/after like this! Congrats on the amazing work you've put in making this house your home! 🎉❤
A gorgeous cabin remake! The spools in the kitchen look amazing!!! Nice job!!!
Your home is so lovely and cozy! I think it was such a smart idea to open up the mudroom entry area and increase the ceiling height! I don’t think I could live there without that breathing room of tall ceiling to tolerate the shorter areas.
I watched you from the 1st. Video! You've created such a fine home and have given alot of people inspiration to follow thier dreams! Skol! 🍻
This was such a treet! You are a true hero to have survived such a very basic but beautiful place and made it a bit more comfortable ❤
Hi Kalle,
That was an amazing tour! I loved how you had footage from back in the days. 😃
I have a few questions:
1. Where do you store vegetables? I haven't seen any in the kitchen.
2. Do you have very little stuff? No stuff for when you have guests over, e.g., raclette, board games, play station, alcohol, etc.? Or big winter equipment, winter jackets, etc.? I saw the movie theater, the computer, a few books, a guitar, and the sauna as possible activities.
3. Are you planning to insulate the walls?
4. and most importantly, where will the baby stuff go and when the baby gets older, will they have their own room?
I loved the tour!! You did a terrific job on your cabin! Well done!! Merry Christmas, watching you from Canada❤❤
Knowing you did all the work, there is something special about that. It's something you can't buy. Beautiful and well done 🌻✨️
The white ceiling is really gorgeous. You did a great job, congrats !!
Love from France.
Cheers! Good build! Stay warm!
I have a friend from North Dakota in the US. we both live in Arkansas, the south, while on a visit with her to see her family, there was a sauna which we were invited to use, we gracefully said no thank you, where we're from all you have to do is step outside in July, and you will be in a sauna....
Very impressive . The downstairs is so open, and you were so right to paint the ceiling. It looks so airy ! Well done 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Beautiful girls! Thank you for helping them!
What an impressive remaking of the cabin. It was rustic before, but now it's cozy, more functionable and liveable. Great job on the sauna too.
So beautiful and cozy! Great video !!
Enjoyed so much seeing the walk back - walk forward. Keep going!
You've polished up this gem, and it's beautiful 😊
You really work so hard to reach here kalle. It's a beautiful house filled with love and life. But I am sure you still have hardships to manage without water and shower at same place. You only focus on all the positive sides. You and Cristie is so brave. May your love bring lots of joy, happiness and achievements in your life. Merry Christmas and happy new year to. you and Cristie and the Baby of course.
Well done Kalle! I’ve loved watching your journey ❤
Thank you for being a part of it 🙏❤️
very cool, nice work! my grandparents built our summer home when I was little in the north of Russia, I remember adding hay in between the boards for insulation :) and my grandpa expanding and adding on another room, it is A LOT of work but very rewarding and fun!
absolutely love the tour and the changes u made with the house!!!
❤we enjoyed immensely. Thank you for sharing.
so much heart put into this cabin! 🤎
Beautiful. What an enchanting place.
