I know this was a long time ago no, but I’m pretty sure Turner uses a push off second deal instead of this kind. There’s a series of videos called cheat at card table which kind of teaches it

Smooth, especially the one handed one!
To make it even more convincing, you should move the top card back and forth with your thumb. When you deal normally, most people push the card over each time, so you ought to replicate that as well.

Admittedly I just started practicing this, but do you have any tips on how to grab the second card? I find myself struggling with getting it out clean. Sometimes I either pull two cards or the third card comes out a bit.

except richard turner pulls it from the bottom from his left hand, thats why it looks smoother. when you pull the card aside to pull the 2nd from the top corner it def looks more suspicious than when RT motions the first card over to pull the 2nd underneath it

Arman Jasuja Good luck with the centre deal, perfecting it is a at least a 4-5 year job, there's the Martin Nash centre deal, but that's more of a pseudo centre deal, people don't consider it too be a 'real' centre deal because of the way the cards are prepared, I would advise buying Jason England's tutorial from theory 11, won't find a better teaching resource than that.
You should un-wrinkle your close up mat. Just simply take a wet cloth or towel and wipe it across the mat many times till all the wrinkles are gone.
