- This is the second part of my day here in Malang. I uploaded the first part a while back ago featuring the Rainbow Village, but soon after I uploaded that video, the city of Malang was hit by tons of rain, and this area was ravished by flash floods leaving several dead. It broke my heart to see the destruction the flood caused, I hope everyone there is doing ok now. I didn't feel it was right to upload the video during a time of mourning so here it is now.
After checking out the blue village, I made my way to a famous Soto Ayam restaurant that was recommended to me. Along the way, I stopped by a cool little coffee shop and hung out with the owner and patrons. I hope you enjoy the video, many more to come... thanks

This video was shot before the heavy rains and flash floods ravished the city. My condolences go out to those who lost their lives and the families impacted by the floods. I hope they're able to bounce back even stronger. Thank you for welcoming me into your beautiful little blue world.
pray for malang i hope they're will be good like before the disaster and back to normal soon
RESPECT NICK ❤
You and your beautiful heart also are always welcome..
I was shocked when I heard the flood news. It was a day after you visited the rainbow and blue kampung.
It was horryfying watching the flood on CZcams.
I heard that everything is OK now..thank God.
Good you see by yourself now. Write it on ur history.
Hey Nick, as a Westerner myself living in Indonesia I really appreciate the way you are so willing to try local food and the kind and respectful way you interact with the locals, well done my friend you make quality and interesting videos.
Dude, the kids didn't ask for money, they said it was "Wani" the spirit jargon for their local football team, Arema😁. Enjoy man✌
Maklum Lur....krungune money 😃
Wani = Brave
Dude i'm so glad that the hotel staff recommended you to eat at Ambengan... that place has, hands down, the BEST soto ayam in Malang.... i've been eating at that place since i was a kid (i'm pushing 30 right now) and honestly i just can never get tired of its taste especially while it's still piping hot! I'm literally drooling watching you devour that bowl of soto!
your Bahasa is progressing well Nick, you have a good heart to local Blue village residents 👍
Hey Nick, been enjoying a lot of your videos lately. I think your attitude and willingness in learning new cultures and languages are really commendable! Now pardon me for this long and unrelated comment but I can't help but analyzing how foreigners are learning and speaking our language. I love learning languages myself, so here's a few pointers I could give you to better your Indonesian:
You seem to tend to reduce the vowel "U", like when you say the word "Suka". It's almost like you're trying to say 好き, lol. Indonesian don't reduce the vowel "U", so it's "Su-ka", 2 syllables. We do reduce the vowel "E" sometime though, like in the words "Selamat" -> "S'lamat", "Pernah" -> "Pr'nah" (remember we have 2 sounds for "E", the ones that tend to get reduced are not the E that sounds like え). In other cases, it's safe to assume that all the vowels are pronounced clearly.
You also seem to like the phrase "Bisa ...?". Try replacing "Bisa" with "Boleh" instead, you'll sound 10x more polite. "Boleh" would be closer in meaning to "May", so "Boleh saya duduk?" will be "May I sit?" instead of "Can I sit?".
Another thing I noticed is that you say "Saya mau makan/minum" a lot when you're ordering something. This is fine. It's just a bit uh.. weird I guess. Maybe it'd come across as cute and childish to them, who knows haha. You could try saying "Saya mau coba yang ini/itu" instead. "Coba" would translate to "to try", so it'll be "I'd like to try this/that one". Or even more politely, "Boleh saya coba yang ini/itu". Another verb to replace "Coba" would be "Pesan"(to order), "Beli"(to buy).
Again, sorry for the long, unrelated comment. Wishing you the best of health and weather in your Indonesian travel, and keep learning Indonesian! Cheers!
Very beautifull video of the local life in Indonesia.

Hi, Nick...I just watched this video. I lived in that blue kampung when I was a kid. I was born in Malang. My family sold our house there then I moved to Surabaya when I started my first grade in the elementary. This neighbourhood is not that far from the train station. I wish someday I could visit this place again. Thanks for sharing

When you eat or drink something purple here, it usually refers or made from Taro. It's quiet popular taste choice in culinary. Taro is quite similar to cassava.
hello, thank you for visiting Omah Sehat.
I hope you enjoy your moment at my coffee shop. See you soon 👍👍
Thank you

please go to batu city.. paralayang mountain...also another nature place....in batu, onsen(hotwater pole) in cangar, waterfall etc. thanks
Actually that soto is from Ambengan Street in Surabaya, I don’t know if that’s a branch or they just copy the name… in my opinion, the soto in Ambengan Street is indeed the best in Surabaya. They also have a very good koya powder served as an optional add on on the table that you can take as much as you want. You definitely need to try to add that next time you eat soto.
I'm glad that finally you try an authentic soto ayam, it's good right? 😊
Wah sudah ke kota malang ☺
