My solo day hike to Mt Jefferson following the Six Husbands Trail in the Presidential Range of the White Mountains of New Hampshire. Mt Jefferson counts for the New Hampshire 48 4000 Footer (NH48) hiking list and the Six Husbands Trail counts for "The Terrifying 25" (T25) hiking list. The New Hampshire 48 4000 Footer list, created by the Appalachian Mountain Club, consists of 48 mountains in New Hampshire with elevations of at least 4,000 feet and a minimum of 200 feet prominence. The Terrifying 25 list, created by the Herrs, consists of the most interesting White Mountains trails that have slides, rock scrambles, or boulder caves. This video is part of my series where I attempt to find the best day hikes in New Hampshire. Have I found the most terrifying day hike in New Hampshire? A top day hike in New Hampshire instead? Specifically, Mt Jefferson is located near Gorham NH in the White Mountain National Forest.

Who else hates rickety ladders?
I've decided the only trail I will be hiking is Franconia Falls.
Well, Adam, I heard the change in the voice, and you were definitely not playing at it. That was getting to you. Please do not put yourself at unnecessary risk for us. Brilliant vlog with amazing views. Thanks for sharing.
Yes I really was getting scared on this one. Just try and keep it adventurous!
I kept hoping someone was filming you, because I did this trail once and I cannot fathom hiking back on certain parts for the camera! This made me relive some terrifying moments haha.
Did trail maintenance on that trail this summer, clearing brush on those ladders was a doozy.
dannnnnnnnnnnnnnng
Wow this one looks like one hell of a hike. I was scared just watching your video. Another great job, thanks Adam!
Glad you enjoyed it! Yes this one was a doozy for sure!
Also the beginning music and scenery is great! Its giving studio ghibli
I agree!
Thanks. This was my first backpacking trip into the presidential range. Memorable.
Glad it brought great memories!
Another kick-butt adventure. Thanks for sharing, and thanks for giving me hiking ideas, especially for times I want to step out of my comfort zone!! Love some of the close up scenic shots you got!!
Glad it could inspire you and look forward to you tackling it too! Tyr my best to always get the best angles!
Thank you for all the videos you make. Not only do you do a great job making them...they are so valuable to everyone to preview trails that they should or should not do....keeping people inspired and safe at the same time...thank you for all you do!
You are very welcome!
NIce video. Thanks for sharing. 👍117
Thank you! Cheers! 👍
Great beta for Six Husbands. I haven't hiked or camped in that area - so I appreciate this.
Glad you found it useful. I hope you have fun hiking and camping in the area when you do!
This place is magnificent! Watching this just makes me feel good! Bravo my friend 🔥🔥
thanks!
Can't believe the number of times you went up and down the ladders and rock scrambles to get all the angles. Wow is all I can say... Thanks for all the work showing us these T-25 trails!
You and me both!
Great video! That does look terrifying! I was so ready to go out there until I saw that ladder scramble. (I froze for a couple minutes on Mt. Morgan, I have to admit!) Well, I hope to try this one someday!
I will say the ladders are taller than the Morgan one but luckily do not have a sideways ladder transfer like Morgan. There are more of them and there is the one halfway up the rock. The worst was the one that dumped you directly onto a rock slab at an angle that made me hyperventilate!
I’m good xD I just did Flume slide trail and that was enough thrills for me.
That one is crazy!
This was awesome. Looks like a great hike if you want to avoid the crowds. Also, I'm curious how much extra distance do you think you walk setting your camera up and then going back to retrieve it?
Going to do the Franconia ridge loop tomorrow morning! See you up there Adam!
Lol hope the smoke clears for you!
@@AdamHoyt smoke!? Weather looks OK, what did I miss?!
I thought you were moving pretty quickly over that rough terrain. That 1 does look truly terrifying. I definitely would have loved to hike that in my 20s. Never gonna do that at my age now. But was fun to watch You do it.
You and me both!
Looks like a heart pounding hike but it really looks more to be a climb than anything else. It must have been a bit nerve-racking to go back down! I know I'd much rather climb up than down! Thanks for sharing this amazing adventure! 😉
You literally can only climb it up and not down hahahaa
@@AdamHoyt So true, LOL! I'm a caver, forgive me! ;)
Hi Adam.
Enjoyed this adventure, thankful you made it safely.
It appeared the rocks were wet. If so, that made it even more difficult!
Questions:
Have you done the Huntingdon Ravine Trail?
Were these trails marked, I did not see any paint blazes?
I assume the loop route you took back avoided the steep sections above the ladders (?).
Thanks for another good video...
I have not done that trail yet and had been planning to do it in September before I got injured. But then it was no longer possible. maybe next year! No blazes because this was mostly in a wilderness area and they do not use blazes in the wilderness. Yes I went back and descended via the sphinx trail as described in the guide section. Happy hiking!
I'm always amazed at how many people hike these trails in shoes that are not waterproof.
not sure why it matters.... its just a day hike...
@@AdamHoyt Wet feet = blisters = bad deal
@@mikecronan550 guess their waterproof enough since that doesn’t happen to me 🤣
I frequently say that the Terrifying 25 does not usually life up to the name and that it was named more because of how terrifying it was for the originator, Patricia Herr, to watch her young daughters climb them than because they are terrifying themselves. That one MAY live up to its name based on your video. Hopefully I'll see next summer when I try and finish that list.
This one was a doozy!
Do you do guided hikes adam?! That would be so wonderful i think youd be great for it
I have never done that but maybe someday ill do a group hike
Nope! That rock scramble after the ladder is NOT for me.
it was barely for me!
Great hike but even 50 yrs ago this & huntington ravine are ones I would
NEVER descend !
Tom
LFOD !
So so so true. I definitely took a different trail now haha
No poles yet?
Before the accident
Nope fuck that
yup that was a terrible time lol
