Join me this week as I take you on my first-ever camping adventure in this 1980s American school bus which was imported all the way from California in the US to the UK. In this video we take a look at this huge bus which was transformed into a tiny house on wheels.
I'll also give you a full tour of the van and take you through every step of the journey including driving this monster for the first time.

I always preferred these rounded Crown buses to the more boxy Blue Birds when I rode the bus to school in the 70's. My great aunt was even my bus driver for a year. Our school district numbered the buses making it easy to know how old it was (6-71 was bus #6 built in 1971.) Not sure if they altered things in the conversion, but the double doors in the back was for a (relatively) small boot. Not sure about that swing-out arm on the front, later years had a flip-out stop sign on the rear side that extended when the flashing red lights were activated. Our rules were the lights had to be activated whenever passengers were getting on or off the bus, even when parked at the school and they parked about 6 inches from the bus in front so that arm wouldn't work. The drop-down side windows had a tendency to go crooked if you didn't latch both sides perfectly. Lots of memories of these buses.

As an American, I was expecting you to fix a hamburger or a hot dog for dinner. Love all the American license plates decorating the bus, especially the Indiana plate given I was born and raised in Indiana. I am loving this new series, Will. Now, you need to come to the US and take a class A coach out.

Every state has it's own traditional food. Curly fries had me salivating. Of course being Canadian I'd have to have some gravy on those 🤭

I moved to the US when I was 5 and grew up being picked up from my street near home and dropped off after school. I also remember seeing this at vanlife festival at Stratford-Upon-Avon 2022!
When you were trying to drive it for the first time with the owner watching right behind you, I could feel the stress through my screen. It's like learning to drive with your dad all over again, except way more difficult
He did a really good job of outfitting that bus. I like my bacon crispy as well.

So that stop button in the back is actually a button to stop the startup/shutdown alarm, makes the driver walk to the back to make sure all the children are accounted for

@@simonsmithson2566 that is a very nice setup! You really made good use of the space. Driving that on the narrow British roads has to be bad enough but with American style steering that really must come with some challenges!

In 1998 I passed my bus test and drove coaches, mini buses and double deckers. The Deckers used to terrify me to drive but they were great fun on a skid pan. I did a full 180 rear wheel skid on a wet surface, it was one of the most scary yet exhilerating things I've ever done.........

Why not try a double decker coach sleeper ask vans for bands in Oxfordshire or load out express in Nottinghamshire. They have buses with 16 beds

Binged watch all your vlogs all weekend. Seen your ups, downs and mishaps. Love how you keep your constant raw and not all this fake malarkey. Going from your van to trying others, not only funny at times but can relate to as I would probably match you for mishaps and I am way older and still haven’t learnt 😂. Wow what a beast. Looks absolutely luxurious inside. Not sure I’d want to fill the tank with ‘gas’. Wonder how many miles to the gallon it does.
I think it does around 10mpg so of course an expensive vehicle to run

I used to go to a middle school here in California with a bus exactly like this sitting right outside I haven't seen it in the past year or two, but I bet this might be the one.
