    If a carb is too far gone to rebuild or simply won’t work properly after trying everything I have no problem using a generic replacement. I’ve had very good results with cheap no-name carbs with no further issues afterwards.

    JD S130. Same symptoms tricky throttle/choke adjustments to run. My issue was the "governor blade" or its equal was not working, it was floating, no tension on the vertical wire or arm that connects to carb. At the time I was clueless and frustrated. While had my air handy, I blew out the hard to get/see area on top of the carburetor. Magic, noticed the wire now had a little tension. Engine ran fine. Before had the same symptoms as your oldie but goodie. No skill or knowledge, just dumb luck so I thought I would share. The video inspired me to trouble shoot. THX.

    The new aftermarket carburetor was so cheap. I chose to get it instead of dismantling and clearing those clogged paths on the old carburetor. I had a lot of luck, switching out a starter and solenoid previously. I'm just about to install my new carburetor and hope for the best. If that doesn't work I should do what I probably should've already done and check the fuel cap. The problem is I don't know how to tell if it's functional or not. Can you help me with that? Oh and I wanted to say thanks for the tip about doubling up the nuts on the one post for the carburetor so I could undo the linkages easily. I was baffled at first, but after watching it three times I understood.

    • @INSIDEHOUSEGARAGE
      @INSIDEHOUSEGARAGE  Před 2 měsíci

      to check if the cap is venting, disconnect the fuel line at the filter near the right foot pedal. Fuel should drain from the line when you move the end of the hose below the frame due to gravity and pressure differential. Capture the fuel in a container and watch to see if the fuel flow stays "continuous" or if the flow starts to slow down. This would show that the cap is not venting air into the tank. IF it does this, then open the fuel cap and if the flow starts back up, then you'll know the cap needs to be replaced or if you need to put a small hole in it

      I have a Briggs and stratton Vanguard. 185432 0271e1.
      Same problem. Fresh gas, fuel flows freely. Found nothing in original carb.
      Replace with import, same problem? The fuel inlet on the new one is smaller. 1/4" od.
      Any ideas?

      If you're certain about the fuel flow and the carb is new, then the problem may not be fuel related
