    man that sounds so full, forward, and punchy! Really great tone! I love how when you went from the clean to a boost it actually sounded like the original clean tone just with some distortion added to it as opposed to just being a completely different sound.

    This is exactly what I have been wanting. A Bassman, Plexi, and Soldano in one compact pedal, with tube power. With my cab sim and pedalboard, I don’t need anything else now.

      If it has cab emulation on xlr out, do you really need the cab m+ as well? Or do you prefer the option to choose preferred cab voice vs. whatever the revolt has?

    • @DB-ri4lp
      @DB-ri4lp Před rokem +3

      @@glennw3909 The cab emulation on the Revolt, as with everything else on the unit, is analogue, and you're limited to that one simulation of a marshall 4 x 12. If it works for you then great, no need for the Cab M.

  • @stoneysdead689
    @stoneysdead689 Před rokem +15

    Everyone seems to be upset that they didn't include the Cab M in this device, but it would've driven the cost way, way up and for ppl who already have a Cab M- why should they need to buy it again? I think they were smart to make it where you could use any can sims you want- not just Two Notes stuff. And I also think it was wise not to run the price up twice as high as it already is- 350$ for an amp in a box pedal is pretty steep already.

    • @Whizzinby777
      @Whizzinby777 Před rokem +1

      Because of brand identity. When you buy something from Two Notes you naturally assume it conservatively has an IR loader. Also because a lot of digital pedal amps (Iridium, ACS1, the UA amp pedals) naturally have IR/Cab sim baked in. (Noting the difference between digital vs analog pedal amps)
      Without an IR loader they are really just competing with other analog preamp pedals like the line by Victory, not all-in-one pedal amp solutions. (Which have become entirely more popular than preamp pedals imo) I suppose we’ll see how receptive the market is to this long term.

    • @stoneysdead689
      @stoneysdead689 Před rokem

      @@brucesguitardemos8197 If that's the case then why would they release the Two Notes Captor X attenuator in a pedal format? That was the release before this one- they re-released their hottest product in a pedal format. Which totally makes the attenuator redundant. And how would including the cab sims in this release "date" them? That makes no sense whatsoever. If anything, it would make the captor X seem more up to date- it's included in a brand-new release Afterall.

    I’ve spent a day with this pedal, and have been impressed. Running it into the power section of the Terror Stamp, as well as in 4C mode with the Roland JC-40. It works very well with the effects from HX Stomp as well. Cab sims aren’t my thing. But, it’s nice to have the option. Can’t wait to rehearse and gig with this.

    • @tomedwards81
      @tomedwards81 Před rokem +1

      Can you explain the benefit of running this in 4CM with the JC-40? Is it to bypass the JC's preamp? I've struggled to get a sound I love with dirt pedals into the JC and wondered if this method would be the way to get that tube warmth I'm missing.

    • @NormanWoods
      @NormanWoods Před rokem

      @@tomedwards81 I love the JC for cleans. But dirt is not its strength. So, using the revolt in 4CM, I can get a classic edge-of-breakup tone, as well as overdriven tones (and even my terrible version of high-gain that stays in my living room). The power amp of the JC is very clean, and interacts well with the Revolt. I’m my 25 years of playing, bouncing from Bugera to Hot Rod Deluxe to Dean Markley to Marshall Origin to OR15 to Victory Duchess, and JC40/22, this is by far my favorite setup.

      For reasons stated above, plus the mids are out of control on the Revolt, even when cut. And the treble is in the 16k frequency range, it really hurts. I cant get a nice tone without an EQ in the loop. I prefer the cleans on Le Lead too.

As great as the ReVolt might be we shouldn't expect a $399 preamp pedal to compete with the tones from any of these amps. I certainly don't expect it too. So if you added it to your Mesa or Soldano preamps the drop in quality would be instant and you just wouldn't use it. 4 cable method is viable though used with an SS amp that has a loop.

    I was so pumped once I saw (and heard!) the first few minutes, especially after the time it took for Two Notes to bring out an updated alternative to the Le Preamp series (I personally own the Le Crunch), that suits the need of the modern guitarist. I'm left quite disappointed, however, since the one thing they should've added was customizability of the DI OUT Sim, but they didn't. Why shouldn't we be able to pick an IR different than the one that's included in the analog box of the pedal stock? They already include 10 great free cab sims, why can't I just plug the ReVolt into my laptop and be able to select another cab for my gig that potentially suits me better and save it in. I get that they want you to buy the additional CAB M pedal and their other products, but holy hell, it's been so long and the feature that was most requested didn't make it once again. If the selling point is that you can choose different cabs for recording in the studio and have some flexibility there I then say, I'm sorry there are far better solutions out there (Neural DSP, Amplitube, STL Tones just to name a few) to recording straight in. This couldn've really attracted many customers who would love flexibility for their live sound just from that one box. Big L in my eyes, unfortunately...

      Hi Chris, Ross from Two notes here. Our aim with ReVolt was to provide an all analog solution for a stellar foundation tone, all housed in a simple to use format. Adding DynIR into the fold would have resulted in not only a considerably larger unit, but we felt it would detract from the all-analog mission statement we set out with. There are plenty of IR loaders out there - including our C.A.B. M+ - and we feel the assortment of inputs and outputs makes this the perfect solution to integrate into any hardware configuration. So what seems to benthe advantage of this unit vs mic ing an amp cab? If you're going to play live and send the signal to the board and play the amp on stage.... even in the studio you can just mic the cab to record. I kinda get using this unit to replace an amp on stage going trough a PA but there are modelers that are more versitile especially with Cab IR uploads. I'm thinking of Valeton GP200 for example. $500 and $350 for the GP200LT which has the same options except no XLR out and expression pedal and quick amp control knobs.

      @@stevenarseneault1972 Ross from Two notes here! The main advantage is you would negate the need for setting up mics and cabs - essentially allowing you to run a silent state or a fuss-free recording session. Our thought process with the ReVolt Series was to provide a simple interface to dial in a great tone in a snap. In terms of the saturation, which channel are you referring to?

    • @stevenarseneault1972
      @stevenarseneault1972 Před rokem

      @@RossDaviesTwoNotes Channel 2 and 3 or crunch and distortion tend to compress the tips of the waves when trying to get an agressive tone. I get the limitations in a single preamp tube configuration. To me, and this can be subjective, the available headroom on a distorted signal is quite important. I've notice that the low end is not as present as a high gain amp. Perhaps an EQ pedal can help but it would be best coming from the unit. It works good. To me, if it's trying ro replace an amp it needs to be both flexible and somewhat accurate to accomodate each player as they tend to chose a few tones and stick with them. IR cabs in floor units is popular for this reason. Perhaps something for a future revision? Build in uploadable cab IR electronics. I do see potential in your unit. You'll probably do well however, I was trying to understand how your unit would do better than most emulator floorboards as it seems to sound best plugged in the return line of an effects loop on an actual amp. But them again, that is the job of a pre-amp on that same amp. I did use a microphone pre-amp with a single tube in it in the effect return of my amp and I could drive the tube and add gain with the controls. The only reason I did that is because my amp does not have a clean channel and it gave me access to have a clean channel on demand that worked beautifully.

    • @RossDaviesTwoNotes
      @RossDaviesTwoNotes Před rokem

      @@stevenarseneault1972 Thanks for getting back to me and expanding on this! This may be a factor of the nefarious CZcams video compression you are hearing as we have worked hard to retain the dynamics of the signal as a faithful recreation of the amps our channels are inspired by. Please note that by its very nature, drive and distortion effectively clip a given signal so there will always be some squaring of the waves. In terms of the EQ, there is a 3-band EQ available for Channel 3 on the unit to bump up the lows but you can for sure add another EQ pedal to the mix.
      In terms of IR / DynIR integration, our thought process with ReVolt was to provide an all-analog (bar MIDI) signal chain to build a stellar foundation tone. Adding IR / DynIR into the mix would have stood against this unfortunately and we have a great solution with our C.A.B. M+ if users want to add this functionality to their ReVolt.
      Regardless, your feedback is massively important to us and I have relayed this to the team now for their consideration! Thanks so much for this!
