Being an Amped2 owner and trying to be neutral (without trying to justify the £££s I spent buying it!)
A couple of things…first when changing amp models, the power amp chosen makes a big difference as it alters what amp style it is trying to model. E.g. on the U.K. setting, EL84 is Vox AC30 style, and EL34 is Plexi territory. 6L6 is more like a driven fender tweed amp.
The amped2 kind of fits a different situation than the two notes.
I’m a guitarist with a limited budget. I play a few gigs locally, I also like to try and record a bit, also trying to start my own CZcams guitar channel.
The Amped does a great job for me. I also own a Blackstar St James 2x12 cabinet.
My Amped2 sits on my pedalboard, alongside a few individual drive pedals and a pedal loop switcher with MIDI. I can control presets on my Amped2 via midi and bring in my drive pedals as and when needed. I also use the built in Drive occasionally and the built in mod and delay effects.
Yes there is a slight compromise to using boutique delays and mods, but actually the built in effects are very very usable and sound great. I normally play in a duo with backing tracks and I D.I straight into the mixer. The cab sims are excellent. You can change the sims on the back with a 3 way switch or with MIDI. I am thoroughly pleased with the tones I am getting and how it responds and feels to my playing. You can download ir’s via USB to a pc but it has to be converted to Blackstars own algorithm.
On the occasions I am playing with a band or if I have the room, I can use my speaker cab and I set the amp to suit the environment (normally 20watt mode). It sounds fantastic through the cab too, cuts through the mix like a valve amp does, feeds back with lovely natural sounding harmonic overtones and is just a pleasure to play.
No it’s not a Two Rock, or a deluxe reverb, or a vintage Plexi/ac30, but it gets pretty close. So for me it ticks pretty much every box.
Oh yes also there is so much more to it, the tap tempo is also a ‘shift’ control which works with the other settings to access extra features. Leo, try the holding down the delay or reverb pedal when they are on and it goes into this lovely warm self oscillating ambient thing!
I will be doing a full review of my pedalboard on my channel as soon as I get my new camera gear and mics!
Anyway, I will pass the mic over to someone else now 😂

I agree with the sentiment of those wishing to hear the ToneX Pedal. It however does not have an amplifier built in so it is not a comparable product. It is simply a modeler.
However the ToneX Pedal is arguably sonically on par with the Quad Cortex and the Fractal Audio Axe-FX yet it is priced like an entry level. It's parent company IK Multimedia only existed in the start to sell software. It simply means 'SOUND is everything'. Those 2 top of the line makers offer much more, not much better. 99% of what is in them is only useful for Shoegaze and movie soundtracks. I repeat 99%. Useless to nearly every genre that has a marketable audience . The 150 locations for patches are all you need. They can be factory or replacement downloads . I think the ToneX is a game changer. Both Pro and many users will also buy the ToneX Capture and over just a year the choice of new plug-ins will be obscene.

Sometimes swiss army knife approach compromises quality. Amped was somwhere in the middle of digital and analog world. Enough to have multiple effects, but would require a little of tap dancing. They could have made a multi effects board contender to Boss GX100 and Line6 Helix. Two Notes have few effects but would maximize your performance, less confusing and sounds more alive in stage

    • @SergeiVlassov
      @SergeiVlassov Před rokem

@sideT.V. I don't know why you are so triggered by this useful comparison. See, the amp section in Amped is just a linear class D amp, it doesn't participate in tone shaping, as would be in case of a tube amp. So, in both units, the tone is fully formed in the preamp section. Both units have several amp models from clean to hi gain, both units have knobs instead of menus, both units have speaker simulated output for direct recording. As I told - for my needs, both units fall into the same category, namely tabletop units with several channels, with knobs instead of menus. To connect to audio interface for home recording. In this case, I never use FXs anyway, I add them later in DAW. And there are many people who do the same. Moreover, a lot of guitarists will use amped to play directly in PA anyway, without using amp section. So, it is 100% justified to compare the tone like this. You can plug Revolt into any small cheap class D pedal poweramp, then you can compare the tone into speaker as well if needed. But this has nothing to do with the quality of the tones of the units. Once again - amped is not a vintage tube amp where the power section has a great impact on tone. In amped amplifier section does nothing but just linearly amplifies the tone that is already formed in the unit. So, we cannot compare features, amped has more, but we totally can compare speaker simulated tones, it totally makes sense.

@@SergeiVlassov Not reading your life story. One is an amp one isn't. Ice cream is not cookies. Water is not dirt. Let's compare a speaker with headphones next.
