A short biography video revealing the history behind one of the greatest bass players in Jamaican music history; Errol Carter aka Flabba Holt, in his own words...enjoy! - Hudba
This man's basslines changed my musical world forever
I just love his confidence when he says he is the best bass player. When I listen to all the tunes he has played on I think this is true. There many bass players out there but his bass lines are very unique.
Prince Far I said it too, listen to his song Bass Ace

Greatest bass player of all time respect to flabba
I had the honour off meeting this man yesterday after a concert in Arnhem he is the most friendly down to earth person. Thanks for your time may your food basket never be empty
i really really appreciate this effort to expose the talent behind the megga hit songs from reggae music , most of whom we have never heard their names , our jamaican journalists have failed badly in this regard , for the most part it has been left to foreigners to chronicle the contributions of the unsung heroes (a lot of whom are gone now) behind reggae music .
It amazing to know some ah these men and there stories behind timeless classic 🎶 up up
Sometimes the people who get credit can't play a note like the Artist
Mr. Holt what can I say but thank you sir for all my beautiful memories from childhood until now! Your bass lines will forever play in my head! Thank you for a lifetime of great significance....
Respect for the man called Flabba Holt!
Roots Radics - Flabba/ Style/ other members of the band with singers like Johnny Osbourne, Barrington Levi, Linval Thompson etc recorded at channel 1 mixed at King Tubbys by Scientist. That's a major part of my music education as a teen. I now live in Atlanta and blast then tunes very loudly to this day when I drive especially if I feel a little stress to feel good, very therapeutic :)
Big Up! Flabba Holt !
I'm a latecomer to this party, but it's a great party,

Your bass is the heartbeat of the people. ❤️
Excellent interview! Roots wouldn't be the same without Flabba's influence, definitely influenced many others with those basslines and his own releases as an artist which include some of my fav tracks.
Thanks for sharing your story Mr. Holt. I always say if one has bragging rights they should exercise it and you are doing just that. All those hits that we all know and love that you play on… Yes bragging rights are very much in order. Bless.
"Me's one of the Wickedest bass-man".

He wasn't lying..Radics are my favourite as much as Jamaica 🇯🇲 has outstanding musicians through the years..there was something about Radics.. along with the scientific one. They spent a lot of time in my studio 🎙..is just their vibes..
I love the fact that I can't understand a word he says, but I love the way he sounds, in speaking, and in music.
Mi love diss, want more.
What a history, thanks for this video
Flabba and me also bumpy Osborne are from the same area Jones Town. I and bumpy are friends from boy days and I would have known flabba as well because I used to go on race course lane and bumpy used to live on minstrel Street and was a good dancer before he started singing. Big respect to them both coming from the ghetto and rising to the top of Jamaica music
Reggae royalty right there. We used to vibe to this King when i was a youth in Harare around 1981
When I started listening to reggae I always bought album's by the musicians that played I HAVE MORE ROOTS RADICS THAN ANY OTHERS STILL HAVE ALL THE ALBUMS🎸 🇬🇭🇯🇲

Aston Barrett, Robbie Shakespeare, Flabba Holt, Earl Bagga Walker were Foundation Bass Men of Roots Reggae.
Flabba or Barrett who is better?
@@romaneingram4487 They were both very prolific... In my humble opinion, there's no debate. I wouldn't say the name, but you know who !!😁😁. The real question is Between Aston Barrett and Robbie Shakespeare who rules the roost? 😁😁😁

Why all bassie look alike
Prince Fari called him Jamaica's no. 1 bass player
Rory Selby-Smith But not number one dancer. Flabba Holt.. nuff respect to the "I" as a bass player- musician. I love the "I" bass lines. Roots Radics is a well recognized band, but when it comes to dancing you can't touch "Persian" the cat. You and me are about the same age ...I may even be a few years older from Fletchers Land. In the heart of Sir Coxsone, Duke Reid, V Rocket, Prince Buster, Billy's Hometown HiFi, and all the other systems of the East, and I have never heard of you or anyone that can out dance Persian. You need to stop saying that you can dance better than Persian. In your mind! Have you ever danced at Forester's Hall, Mutual hall, Jubilee tile Gardens, Caterers, Kings Lawn, Liberty Hall among many others. These are places where Persian have danced on many occasions in front of hundreds or thousands of people. You may have been good out in your area but not good enough to mix with Patta Cat. Ask King Stitch about Persian. Ask Matchuke about Persian. Ask Skatalites about Persian. I'm talking about late 50's to early 60's. Who can I ask about you and what name were you known by. You mentioned "Bop" in a video and he can't dance like Persian. Bop would watch Persian dance. I've witnessed it. You would first have to out dance Bop to get to Persian. Please stop saying that, cause you cannot dance like Persian the Cat, Flabba!
I rest my case.
