Dennis attended a private school owned by my grandfather, St. Stephen's College, and he has always held a special place in our family. His beautiful voice, in that distinctive articulate idiom, is still missed. He made reggae elegant.
My grandmother Miss Lodge taught Dennis Brown in school she is related to JC Lodge singer also also Dennis Brown is cousin to Alaine . Sandra Foster is Alaine cousin also Blossom Lamb the Lamb family are related to Alaine and they are related to my father Mr Delgado .My grandfather is Reuben Delgado past bandmaster at Alpha boys school also Laurel William former beauty queen is related to the Delgado and Junior Tucker is related to the Lamb family so you see l have a history to trace.The Lamb family and Alaine mother Merna Laughton former Miss Jamaica USA are all from Greenwich Farm.

As a young white boy (19) back then, I remember asking the tall, strong brethren at the door of the 100 Club, Oxford Street London, "I need to hear this man play!" They asked me how I knew of him, to which I said, "I just love his voice & his music. I'm a Londoner, just like you!" They liked that & let me in. One of the best moments, that concert !! Drinking up every word & note. Wonderful Friday night memories.

When I moved from Germany to the UK in '87 one of the first night outs I had was a do organized by Twelve Tribes in a school gym in Handsworth, Birmingham.
Everything great when suddenly the sea of people all dressed in pink (the nights were colour coded) parted and in walked Dennis Brown!

i think i recall Rodigan saying in an interview how much Jamaicans love Dennis Brown, amazing that everyone loved him before he was famous.
Not sure what you mean by before he was famous. He was famous from age 11, an amazing little performer, sang in night clubs just like Mike Jackson did and made the front page of the Gleaner newspaper, radio and tv news after every performance. That's when he was named Wonder Boy! Marley was an adult 12 yrs older than Dennis when Dennis was a known icon back then. Marley gave Dennis the title of Prince of Reggae because he said child star Dennis was his favorite singer. Dennis is my uncle, 2 yrs older than I so we were more like siblings growing up
Seen him in the flesh but never got the chance to speak with him,my Aunty used to look after two of his children,their Mothers name was Yvonne,Great singer,songwriter and around artist,and he being Marley favourite singer says it all Dennis Brown Lives Forever, Rastafari....

One of the drummers who made me want to play the drums his Rhythmic legacy is truly inspiring still so today glad to see him and hear about his experiences as they say from the horse's mouth a musical giant inspiration to so many globally Jamaica has produced so many musical legends Leroy Horse Mouth is without a doubt one of them.

DEB's dad, Arthur Brown, and DEB's older bro Basil Brown, were well known commedians when DEB began as child star in late 1960s, staring in radio soap operas Life In Hopeful Village and Dulcimena, many pantomimes at Ward Theatre, stage, JBC tv plays, commercials, comedians on byron lee shows. No one was a tap dancer! Basil my dad played 'Man Man' & grandfather was 'Cyclops' in radio play. DEB was a conscious person with parental guidance, not a wayward walkabout. Info about grandfater and DEB mom is rubbish.
