If Isiah Thomas can dominate, and mugsy (5'3 player can have success), he can dominate.

@@cuamagfamily2300 That's not true. You can have the physical gifts and not be mentally built for that type of play. That's where the saying big for nothing comes from in fighting. You don't know how a person will do until they are put in that situation. I mean I think it's pretty clear LeBron would have scored less with that style of play because you just aren't going to score more than in the current era. The game is way more favorable to scorers now. Whatever he lost in scoring may have been more than made up for in other areas though if he could adapt, but there is no real way to know because the NBA decided they didn't like defense.

@Ordinary Buckets If stats alone determined who’s the goat then it’s probably Kareem or Wilt but none of those guys were universally considered candidates for the goat conversation. MJ’s demeanor and mentality towards winning is why most consider him the goat, his skills too obviously but what made him unique was the way he handled himself on the court. Meanwhile there are many who consider LeBron the goat because he got better stats but they forget there are those who got better stats than him and some played less years which is why it’s a shakey debate.

Scottie and Rodman we're just as important to Bulls winning the rings as Jordan. They all had different roles, and they were very good at their own respective role. If Jordan didn't have a good team surrounding him... He'd end up like Doncic,Greek Freak or Jokic, Amazing players, superb talent, yet for either one to win the ring, they need good support players.
Jordan would've had 2 maybe 3 rings on his own, best case scenario. if you look at all time great teams, teams that had greatest success, the winning ingredient to all of them was not just having the best player or a top 3 player in the league, it was the people that were surrounding the star. Jordan had stacy kind, orlando wooldridge, John Paxson, Steve Kerr, Kukoc, Rodman, Pippen... GSW & Curry in their winning season had Thompson, Green, Iguodala, Barbosa, Barnes, Bogut.... Many of these support players would be star players on other teams that year. James didn't win his first medal until he moved to Heat, and what did he have in heat? 2 of the top 10 players that season.

Jordan was definitely the best marketted athlete of all time. But when you have to wait 6 years until better players retire/decline before you win a championship or can turn your team around, you can't be considered goat. Bill Russell instantly made his team better, instantly started winning, same with Bird. Magic went to a stacked team, so you can argue, but really he wasn't in the same conversation. then individually you always have Wilt. I feel Wilt never had the desire to win though, that killer mentality the other guys had. I mean as a centre he led the league in assists one year because someone said he didn't pass enough. But if you fired him up, guy was unstoppable

yet michael still have better mentality and competitiveness and the most important is success compared to lebron in a harder league with all the physical and better defensive rules , dont forget jordan plays in shorter time too in NBA including hiatus for a year.

He absolutely could have and it’s kinda fun to wonder what if he had gone to a different team sooner than he did when he was younger. And of course if he’d never been a Bull. I tend to agree with many that I think the time with MJ did help evolve him a lot into a killer that he hadn’t been yet when he first came to the league. I don’t ever go as far as some who want to say he was only what he was because of MJ, which is too far for me, but I do wonder if he would’ve become such a killer if he never played with MJ. But he gets too much disrespect from so many as to just how big he was to that dynasty and how good he was because of playing with MJ. Because he truly did grow into being a guy who could’ve been the dude on a team but never got to be since he played with MJ and by the time he left MJ he wasn’t in his prime to be that guy any longer. But he truly was the perfect teammate to compliment MJs game on the Bulls.

Today's players and schemes are lightyears ahead of the late 80s, early 90s. Pippen played until the 2000s. I watched him on the Bulls after he joined probably 40 games a year. NBA being soft isn't true. Pippen is good, but if he entered the league now, he wouldn't be a top 10 player. He's not a 50 player of all time. Pippen was good, in his era, but times have changed. Pippen had a diverse skill set and could be effective in today's league, but he's more like an Evan Turner or a Melo. He's a bit better on defense than Melo, but lacks the elite scoring. He could score, but was a top tier defender. Very similar. I think Pippen would be effective, but definitely NOT a top 10 player today.. not even a top 20. He was a top 10 in his era at a few points, but not consistently. Guys are just better nowadays. He would have a harder time defending bigger and longer and freakishly athletic guys.

The single most underrated anything in NBA history is Scottie Pippen's humility. He could have been THE GUY on any other team in basketball, but instead, played his roll to perfection throughout an entire career. That mindset is just as responsible for the 6 rings in Chicago as anything else.

There was different mentality back then, the same mentality that made the Warriors get 3 championships. They simply play for the team not to chase rings.
