You of all people know that this was not a big deal back then…imitation was not considered blackface,, but maybe to a few hyper sensitive people. True historical Blackface was an exaggerated stereotype of a class of black people...charactered in musicals, stage, vaudeville, and early film.. I worked in frontline healthcare all through the recent unpleasantness. Most of us knew by about June/July-ish of 2020 that the severity and risk had been WAY overstated, and that the various control measures were massive overkill. That the cure was rapidly becoming worse than the disease. But a huge number of people and the institutions they controlled couldn't give up the sugar high of controlling people through fear, and painting themselves as morally superior because they 'cared' more than you did.
The saddest part is that millions upon millions of people have had their lives damaged as a result. Lost education. Lost job opportunities. Businesses closed. Health screening and medical procedures delayed. Trust destroyed. And the people most responsible will never face any consequences. The next time there's an actual crisis, how many people will assume that the authorities are blatantly lying to them, for personal and financial profit?

If a private company makes bad decisions, it as an entity will suffer. A government doesn't face the same level of accountability, which ensures there is no impulse to govern well. So while individuals within government may be corrupt, because there is no mechanism for removing them the end result is a government that fails it's people and becomes tyrannical.

Well, I agree with the sanctimonious Right, mostly, but you do believe in a moral god and there is no proof. We are not even close to proving there is any kind of god at all much less a Christain god and but there is some evidence that points to there being a "big bang or original creator". This big bang could be good or bad or amoral or a combo of good and bad, but these are highly improbable and just speculative. He/she/it could be malevolent like the Christain, Muslim, and Judaic gods seem to be at times if you read the Bible pretty closely.
What is good about faith based on no scientific or good evidence? I don't preach against or want religion gone as it is necessary to give people hope and some people need it to not commit bad acts. But read the bible and you find a lot of bad dogma in hundreds and hundreds of passages, less so in the New Testament but Jesus' belief in hell is a very scary thing if he existed (of course he doesn't as a "god) as in "I've got the matches and you're flammable". A bastard or just a kook? both? For a book that is deemed so important, everything should be very clear and it's as murky as hell. Great! another cruel metaphor that can be explained several ways .. like 2 bears slaughtering 40 kids for making fun of a bald "prophet".
When there is any proof of god, then we can all pray together. Not according to the elite scientists of the Academy of Science. When they clean up the bad dogma of religious books, then we can unite. When god or Jesus stops being malevolent in some obvious ways, then we can pray to an imaginary being. Jesus didn't know we are the third stone from the stone but Jimi Hendrix did.

I had a similar moment like Mahr, with some coworkers. They were horrified that I got covid. I stayed out from work for the 2 weeks and happened to have 3 weeks vacation time scheduled to start when I was supposed to go back. So, I was gone a total of 5 weeks. When I returned, they assumed I was in the hospital. My supervisor told me I had to wear a mask for 2 weeks. Other people gave me the "I told you so" routine, assuming I wasn't vaxxed.
I told them, I was on vacation, didn't have to wear a mask because I quarantined for 5 weeks away from them, and I was vaccinated. What a bunch of losers, all of them. I just laughed at them all. My only mistake was getting vaxxed to begin with.

The interesting thing about that is that for the most part people policed themselves and each other. I remember wondering if someone from the city would come shut us down or like put a sticker on our door saying that we could not operate but it never happened. It was the customers and just people in general who were enforcing Covid restrictions

That way, either one of them could explain that "vaccinations are not preventions of viruses, they minimize the severity of the virus and lowered the number of people who were in the % who ended up in the hospital" as per the conversation they were having. You know what I have that many people don't have nowadays (apart from a strong immune system)? A pre-2020 dictionary. A *physical* pre-2020 dictionary. Looking at one just now, it tells me that vaccinations provide immunity against viruses. None of this bullshit "oh, they just reduce your chances of getting it!" crap. The problem is that dictionaries are like phone books, many people tossed them out once they went online.
I've long said that if you want to control what words are used, prints newspapers. If you want to control what words mean, print dictionaries. As we have online dictionaries, the meanings of words can be changed in an instant.
There are plenty of videos from 2020 and early 2021 where politicians have said that the "vaccine against coronavirus" will make one "immune" from the contagion. They didn't say that it would merely "lessen" the impact. They only started saying that when they found out that (shock, horror!) the "vaccine" wasn't working like they said it would.
And, of course, the "vaccine" was never meant to work.
They (the medical industry) make money by keeping you sick, not by making you healthy. Look at the junk food that is sold at your local hospital. Notice that doctors recommend painkillers rather than weightlifting in order to heal and prevent back injuries. Instead of just writing prescriptions, doctors should have business cards to refer you to a gym--but they don't. Weightlifting strengthens bones and decreases osteoporosis. Do you know which people have told me this? Personal trainers, athletes and fitness instructors. Not once have I been given that advice by a doctor. Likewise, weightlifting strengthens your overall immune system. Yet the politicians and paid shills from the medical institutions told people to stay home all day. Any altruistic doctor who blew the whistle and spoke out against this madness was silenced by the media.
I've read and heard personally from people who took the "vaccine," then "caught coronavirus" and ended up extremely sick for two to three weeks. Yet these people say crap like, "I was sick for more than two weeks, vomiting, barely able to move, high fever...but luckily I took three shots of the vaccine, otherwise it would've been *far* worse! Going back to get number four next week!"
Such people are dullards.
I've never taken the so-called "coronavirus" vaccine", and have never contracted coronavirus. I know quite a few people in the same boat. Now look at the number of people who said that they contracted it *after* they took the shot in the arm.
If you can't work out what's going on from the above, then I can only guess that you were never good at those connect-the-dots books when you were a kid.
It's a shame we have to categorize newspapers in terms of liberal and conservative and not truth and lies.
Bill Maher is not an idiot. That's refreshing. None of the "lockstep" mentality there.
Masks? Cloth masks are like using chain link fence to stop mosquitoes. That's the science of filtration.
And a virus the size of corona can very easily go AROUND the fence, doesn't even have to go through the holes. Because all those masks people were wearing were NOT sealed, or properly fit tested/sealed. So much wrong with what was done around the mountain of lies. That's what I call it, too many lies to count.

Bill Maher has turned a corner. He used to ignore the truth. He now embraces the truth. People can change. I believe he has for the most part. That first laugh from Jimmy Kimmel was awkward as hell and Bill didn’t acknowledge it and kept laying on the facts.

As mostly Libertarian, I've always thought Maher is wrong on a lot of things, but I respect the guy ever since he made his 9/11 comment 20+ years ago. He's not afraid to say what's obvious even knowing he's gonna get major blowback. He's one of the few sane voices remaining on the Left and lately he's been one of the very few calling them out on their BS.

People should have been scared. I saw the actual virus ravage my neighbors in real time, killing one. They refused to wear masks in public buildings, get vaccines and had weekly indoor get togethers. Think for yourselves and quit listening to everyone else.
