- Here's a quick (and stupid) test of JVC SP-EXA3 "Wood Cone" speakers in Free-Air!
The special feature of these drivers is the cone which is made of real birch wood. It does look fantastic, even tho I think it's not really necessary.
-The reason JVC made wood cone speakers is pretty funny: "To recreate the sound of instruments played in a concert hall, speakers should be designed as though they were actual musical instruments. In particular, the speaker diaphragms ought to be made of wood - the same material used for making violins, cellos, and other instruments".
-In any case, these do really are amazing little fullranges. They have a lot of excursion without that much mechanical noises (almost silent) even tho they tend to have intermodulations as expected. They're veeery loud tho!
They're just 3" fullranges and they're so well built! Rubber surrounds, wood cones and cast frames. They also have a little piece of wood glued on the bottom of the magnet, which is pretty odd.
Part number is JVC LE10009-012A.
--About first track, it's made by a friend of mine (WhiXard) and you can listen it here: / virtual-demo
They are so good! Not a single mechanical noise, really impressive
Yeah exactly! I thought it was going to be a very stiff driver but actually it's not
Yknow, I've wondering where you've been these last few days now!
Glad you're still around and the hobbie hasn't died down for ya!
Heyyy! This hobby will NEVER die for me! I just have barely any time to shot, edit and upload videos on this channel. But I always have fun with speakers and audio stuff in general! :D I got so so many speakers that haven't even made a single video about it...
Woah! Really nice video! The shots look soo professional!!
The driver doesn't have an insanely big excursion but still really nice, and really high quality!
I really love the fact that it's made out of real wood!
Thank you ^^ aAnd yes, it's such an unique and well sounding driver
this speaker are always a mystery and novelty for me, I thought they are designed to be mostly mid-range and didn't expect to have such excursion.
also your video have look very professionally which's very cool!
Me neither! I thought it was going to be a very stiff driver but actually it's not. Thank you very much ^^
They sound reasonably good, but definitely more treble happy with no filter. There is a treble spike around 10k.
The amplifier that comes with these can boost bass when "subwoofer" is off (need the remote for this).
Beautiful woofer and excursion!
Yes!
I still love my ex-a1! I use them as pc speakers actually haha. They sound great no matter what I put on them, especially with a subwoofer attached
@@TheJVCguy niiiicee! I see you're a great JVC fan given your name haha
@@ciro589m yup, I have a huge collection of them lmao
Nice
yay
This woofer looks amazing
It surely does! One of the best looking driver
These drivers are made with si high quality! Next year, if i see them at a reasonable price, i will definetly but they! I want to touch and feel that cone, im so curious that if i made from real wood or not😅🔊
I guarantee it's real wood :P but yes, if you can get them for a reasonable price, definitely get them
It's real wood, though will be cured in resin too. Gives a balance between paper and metal cones according to the literature
Yep
now that's quite a pretty driver
It looks and sounds so good :3
What do you think about Boschmann? In my opinion they are overrated
Never really liked them
wood you recommend this speaker?? I just had to say it
Hahahahhaha damn missed you man :')
@@ciro589m ha ha. Yeah I’m still around. Just been over the top busy and distracted for quite a while now
Yeah I can understand... Pretty much the same
@@ciro589m yeah. I have many things I wanna make videos on. And some requests as well so you never know when I get back to CZcams again.
I been exhausted by all the issues and work around the house I bought and moved into so CZcams have not been a priority. But I always keep an eye on my channel and others still :)
