    Here is a method that I tried with 3 yarns that were hanging up and dropping stitches--generally making life difficult. 1st, I soaked the balls in concentrated hair conditioner solution, and then spun them in washer. 2nd, after they were dry, I took them to Sentro, on which I had already run 5 rows waste yarn, and 120 rows of Yarn Bee Shale Soft Secret yarn (it ALWAYS works smoothly on my Sentro), and once there was enough length, I put a hair scrunchy on the tube of knitting work, and a lightweight glass pan lid in the middle to hold the stitches down. This Shale yarn made my BONNET. Next, I did 5 more waste yarn rows in color A, then 5 more in color B, helping me to know where the ending waste yarn for the shale hat, and the beginning waste yarn for the next hat started. I then fed my first difficult thread thru the yarn guide and tension guage at the white pin without tying a knot. I ran about 20 lengths of yarn thru my folded-up fabric softener sheet and began to knit. It was actually working (even with the drill adaptor), instead of dropping stitches as it had previously!! 3rd, I watched out that the glass weight did not descend too low and begin to drag, otherwise the stitches will popped off. One at a time, I added 100 plus rows of 2 more troublesome yarn skeins, lengthening the tube , again separating them with colors A & B of waste yarn. and repositioning the hair scrunchy and weight, when needed. Voila! With the soak in hair conditioner, and running the yarn thru an anti-static sheet, and by using the BONNET to get me thru the difficult beginning stitches, I made the yarn work! Freezing one ball also helped, but was not necessary. Generally I find that 3-5 oz yarns work the best.

    I am so frustrated with mine! I have tried everything I have tried different yarns, sometimes it'll run great and then with the exact same yarn I've got nothing but drop stitches and tucked stitches or it gets so caught up that I have to take everything off. My machine is currently in timeout until it learns how to act right... 😁🤣

    On circular knitting machines anytime you hear popping sounds it’s because there is too much tension on the needles. Dampness or moisture can cause a stickiness resulting in tighter tension. Addi uses a 4 with no problems, sentro likes a lighter yarn. I will use a 4 (Aran) but with the least amount of tension to avoid my machine wearing out. Pretty yarns

  • @pamelasusette6744
    @pamelasusette6744 Před rokem +8

    Pulled the middle out of your yard skein, get a up right paper towel holder and drop the middle part of the skein through the pole part of the paper towel holder. This makes knitting a lot easier. You just pull the yarn as you knit. Its kind of like thread on a Sewing machine and the way it pulls out.

    Can’t thank you enough. I watched this video quite some time ago where you recommended going in reverse. Well, I never did do it at that time-I took it apart, cleaned it, put my new electric adapter on and I still had that aggravated grind every time around. So I was thinking about this same video where you went in reverse-so im thinking I am going to try this. Well yahoo, yahoo. No more aggravation, runs smooth, and am able to even use some thicker yarn that came out beautiful. Awesome. Thank you so so much

    Just a note for everyone - The Lions Brand Ferris Wheel yarn works like a dream in my machine!! It's as if it was made for the Sentro. Never a tucked or dropped stitch with that yarn.

  • @cynthiasymons

    Preventing bad stitches was sort of a mystery to me-even after making about 15 hats on my new Addi. I would use one color of Red Heart and it was fine; then I would use it again-disaster. This was all while trying to find the perfect tension. Well, yesterday my new container of Thread Magic arrived. I used my hand like a guide with as little tension as possible. Used two yarns, Caron Simply Soft and a great Red Heart Super Saver-both of which my Addi King had previously flatly refused to knit. (I had torn them out after about 3 rows.). Well, guess what? With the Thread Magic, they worked like a dream. I knitted 130 rows without a hitch-and hardly even watching the stitches. With the Red Heart, I put too much tension on it (though not much) and got a very tight knit hat, perfect for a child. The Simply Soft also knit up beautifully.

    Thank you for the tips I’ll let you know if it works as well for me. There is one thing I noticed. The table you’ve got your machine on is just like one I have. Only I took the glass top it and put my parrots cage on it lol! I’ll need to find her a new one rofl. I love how the yarn goes down in center instead of having to pull it out the side.

    Wow! I am so excited that I waited to see what your tip was. I recently was given some thicker yarn that I used on my Addi machine and I actually thought it ruined my Addi because it kept dropping and tucking stitches no matter what I did with my regular yarn. I can’t wait to try your new method to see if I can correct these issues. Thank you so much.

    I love the idea of adding a little bit of weight/tension by adding those clips around the bottom edge. I have clips in my kitchen that would work perfectly for that! I have been fearful of trying my #4 yarns because it seemed like DK and #3 yarns are what is most recommended for the Sentro. I think you have given me the courage to give it a try! Thank you for the video.

  • @lesleymn
    @lesleymn Před 2 lety +5

    If you will forgive me saying, I think most of your trouble is to do with tension. Your yarn is continually twisting round itself and as soon as there's any pressure like that, then it doesn't flow through properly and the tension arm shoots up in the air and the machine appears to jam. Perhaps a yarn winder would be useful to you. I wind all my yarn with one and never have problems with it pulling at all or twisting back on itself. These machines with their bulky plastic hooks (needles, pins??) will never run as smoothly as a flat-bed knitting machine with steel needles etc and gentle treatment appears to be a must for these plastic machines. I've read repeatedly of yarns not being liked by the machine. They say 'you get what you pay for' and that's true with this machine. I think also that a more stable table could be useful for you as yours is wobbling rather well. I bought one of these purely for fun, something to play with, and very rapidly made my husband a hat so he was quite happy lol.

      @@monicab28because you're compressing the interior, which puts pressure on the gears.
      This is part of why Addis are better. They fasten firmly to the table and don't need to be held in place, so you're not putting pressure on the internal components.
