I actually saw the special car hauler that was hauling the cars to the location as it went through Phoenix. This movie is a prime example why you should never listen to a movie critic. I rarely agree with them and typically I just ignore them. this is a great movie. You did miss one thing about one of the biggest stars of the movie though... the car the Wraith drives was a special Chrysler PPG Pace car that was loaned to the movie company for the movie. It was a one of a kind prototype and came with a whole crew of mechanics and engineers to maintain it. "He's no match for the 'Cuda son!" I didn't know about Johnny Depp though. All filmed around Tucson, AZ. A totally ridiculous movie. I can just picture the kid being pulled over by cops after 2 days. "Hey kid, we've been looking for this car. It's been implicated in twelve murders. You have some explaining to do."

I had just turned 20 yo when this movie came out in '86. Never saw it in the theater, but it got heavy playing time on HBO in the '87 to '89 time frame. I have never forgotten it and still love it to this day.
I liked low end movies like this one growing up. Not everything had to be this big epic blockbuster flick like the way they do it today. This and 'My Science Project' are ones that came out about the same year with this low 80s mentality that I love to watch sometimes back to back. I wish they still made films like this.
Yeah, i loved this movie as well... i watched it again only a month ago, plus watched some CZcams Videos about how someone "was going" to make reproduction "Dodge M4S Turbo" Wraith Cars from the Molds they made of the original car for the Movie! Would of been great if you could of bought your own "Dodge M4S Turbo" Wraith Car!!
Oh my God!!! I just discovered your channel a few months ago. Love it!!!! And the Wraith!?!?!? You already had tons of cred, and it just went up X10000000!
I think his pronunciation of Packard's name is funny. He pronounces it "Pack hard!" However, since he's English and he loves The Wraith, I will give him a hall pass.
Haha I know, it's pretty hilarious. I love Minty, but him mispronouncing the word Wraith in the live action cutaways and the super obvious dubs in the voiceovers killed me. And he missed one in the voiceover, which made it even more obvious. My guess is that he probably grew up thinking that the movie was called The "Wrath", and only learned that is was actually "Wraith" after he had already finished making this episode.
80's sci-fi was weird science...the girls were so hot...and voluptuous....the guys were the coolest of cool....the soundtracks captured our innocence, our angst ... our joy and our plans....I MISS THOSE DAYS

I don't understand why he says it right in some scenes but wrong in others. It's definitely annoying! I hate how he pronounces Packard as well. It's not Pakkard, it's Packard. Pronouncing it Pack-Card is flat out annoying AF!
@@richardike2342 Yes you can. Principle photography (when they actually shoot the filming of the actors) can last as little as 30-60 days. Everything else before/after principle photography is done with a 2nd or 3rd Unit for things such as stunts and to allow time for any CG production and rendering. This is why for some actors, they can be in multiple movies that release all in the same year - because they don't just film one movie/tv show for a few months and they're done for the year.
The wraith .. one of my favorite movies to bad he thus not gets he respect it deserves . Nicely done for the year 1986 . I saw him in the early 90s and i was sold. I still use the name sometimes for accounts and apps and games love it !

Jason Michael Gomez the real Dodge M4S car was only used in still shots never raced. Dodge sent an 18 wheeler and a few guys that never let it out of their sight. It was worth more than a million dollars and that was in 1981. It was a camera guy standing outside of a van that went over a cliff that died.

Great 'CALL-BACK' on all the people who were so young then! Johnny Depp on the Film Crew, WOW! Didn't know that one! Just like YOU, MARK, are doing now!! KEEP ROCKIN' ON, MY FRIEND!!!
I’m actually surprised this movie hasn’t been remade. The idea of the movie sounds like something the lends itself so easily to having a remake. Though it would probably miss the mark and focus to hard on the Wraith’s back story.
I've been hoping that a studio would do a remake or sequel to The Wraith for years now. Obviously they'd go into the hows and whys of the wraith itself, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. I'd just hope that they'd choose to continue with the hard rock/metal theme for the score. :D
I loved this movie when I was younger, it's just a fun and ridiculous romp and I was entertained. Now I might have to watch Wraith, Maximum Overdrive and The hitcher again. It's been 3 decades since I've seen any of them

This was one of my favorite movies at the time. Glad to have a copy on DVD. Growing up watching Knight Rider and Street Hawk.
I liked low end movies like this one growing up. Not everything had to be this big epic blockbuster flick like the way they do it today. This and 'My Science Project' are ones that came out about the same year with this low 80s mentality that I love to watch sometimes back to back. I wish they still made films like this.
gutz1981 love my science project
David Presley
Cop: "Kid why do you wear sunglasses at night?"
Vinnie: "Cause see when you're cool, the sun shines on you 24 hours a day."
Gladiator: Blah,blah,blahahahahblah
Hero: What'd he say? Sounds like Latin, that's your dept.
Nerd: He's going to kick our ass.....
The 68 Goat in that movie made me love GTO's
This is always my favorite movie, the soundtrack is sooo underrated ❤️
👍👍👍👍👍
Managed to find the Original Soundtrack on Ebay a few months ago. So glad I found it.
I own a copy of The Wraith on DVD. I love the cars, the crashes & the song "Where's The Fire". Worth it.
KiryuBT 1995 and Billy Idol's Rebel Yell.
R.I.P. - Marvin Ramos. My best friend who loved this movie.
If you dipped this deep into the 80's, you HAVE to do "My Science Project"...
"What he'd say?"
"He's going...to kick...our ass."
"Sit on this, buttplug!"
Ditto, dip into the 1980s and review John Cusack's "Better Off Dead" (1985)...or for that matter any Cusack movie from the 80s or early 90s.
truth
also want to see a review of Streets of Fire
just watched that today
I must be one of the few because I have this movie on DVD ! I've always loved this movie and that wild car !!!
This is one of my favorites from the '80s and I Still watch it till this day.
I always loved this flick. Always thought it was a shame it didnt get more exposure than it did thanks for the post and movie had the perfect cast.
Me personally, I think this is a great movie. One of my all time favorites.
I remember this movie, i love this movie, I own this movie on dvd. Man, you kick ass Minty. thanks for the vid.
"Jake! Jake!...Jamey!"
@Nob the Knave
Whaaa?
Most heart breaking scene..should have taken his brother too
Iron Eagle: "Chappie!"
Thrashin': "Chrissy!"
Nob the Knave *ugh*
Yep.... 11 years old and it made me well up and my eyes teared.
Oh my God!!! I just discovered your channel a few months ago. Love it!!!! And the Wraith!?!?!? You already had tons of cred, and it just went up X10000000!
How could you mention Maximum Overdrive without mentioning Emilio Estevez is Charlie Sheen's brother :)
David Maes : oddly, I don't think Minty know's their brother's!!!
Every f***** one on the planet knows this
:O When I watched RepoMan I actually thought it was a really young Charlie Sheen. Now it all makes sense! :D
Because he probably doesn't know they are brothers.
@Jerry LeeLewis i chalk up the pronunciation to Minty being Australian, they just say things different down under
How could you not remember Sherilyn Fenn and that great body. Love that Pontiac.
Carlos Ramirez Yes! She was so damn hot in this movie!
Those legs!! 😯
She was soooo sexy-I didn't see a Pontiac in the entire movie!
Oh yeah I forgot about the '77 T/A.
@@231gnx the yellow trans am with the blower
The dub overs are hilarious. Guess Minty kept pronouncing Wraith as Wrath.
Kyle Cruel that was what I thought. I nearly choked on my dinner because I kept laughing.
the WRAITH
I think his pronunciation of Packard's name is funny. He pronounces it "Pack hard!" However, since he's English and he loves The Wraith, I will give him a hall pass.
It is the accent my friend, the accent.
Still my favorite car movie. I'd love to see a prequel, depicting the background of Packard and his minions.
Dude... I totally remember this film!! It fueled countless Hot Wheels car sessions for years!! LOL!
This movie is in my top 10 all time favorites along with smokey and the bandit an cannonball run
I remember this movie it came out when i garuated high school 1986
Just one of the 80's movies that was underrated of course.
Bad promotion will do that all the time.
80's sci-fi was weird science...the girls were so hot...and voluptuous....the guys were the coolest of cool....the soundtracks captured our innocence, our angst ... our joy and our plans....I MISS THOSE DAYS
I loved The Wraith :-) it was definitely a part of my childhood
My neighbor ended up owning the Corvette that was used in this film.
That's pretty cool...I wouldve loved to have the dodge Daytona concept car
Packard isnt goin 2 like that !
That's awesome
That's lies all cars were scrapped after they finished filming the movie
@@anthonybarrass5318 -- One of the Barracuda cars ended up getting reused in a TV show or made for TV movie.. It had been painted over, but on a good quality video, you can see some of the "airborne" paint scheme peeking through.
Automan meets Christine meets the Crow meets The Fast and the Furious. All in.
Lost Age Comics You remember Automan, cool! 😎
Watched it with my grandma way back.
Spot on what a magic combination. !
Lost Age Comics More like Crass and the Tedious.
Hanniffy Dinn So I hate the FATF movies. Why you mad bro?
One of my favs, have the DVD so I can watch all the time. Actually traced the running Wraith car used in the movie, not far from me, ending up in Kansas. At least it was when I checked last. Would love to buy it. Great job.♥️♥️
This is one of my favorite classics but I hate how he keeps saying "The Wrath"
And he can't pronoun Nick Cassavetes name correctly either!!
I don't understand why he says it right in some scenes but wrong in others. It's definitely annoying! I hate how he pronounces Packard as well. It's not Pakkard, it's Packard. Pronouncing it Pack-Card is flat out annoying AF!
@@chrisday7759 If you listen closely, the instances of him saying "The Wraith" properly are pretty much all dubbed in.
Thank you. I know it would be menetioned here.
.🤔😑.
The Wraith was filmed in one month?? Wow. They’ve must had worked everyday
Most films are 20-30 day shoots
You cannot pull that of anymore.
@@rotor13 That is very interesting. Good to know, thank you.
Lots of cocaine no doubt lol.
I can never forget this movie. Still one of my 80's favorites and I have had the DVD for years.
The wraith .. one of my favorite movies to bad he thus not gets he respect it deserves . Nicely done for the year 1986 . I saw him in the early 90s and i was sold. I still use the name sometimes for accounts and apps and games love it !
The Wraith was one of my Aunt's Favorite Movies. The 80s were so cool! Rest In Peace Auntie Pat.
One of my favorite 80’s movies. Very similar story to the crow
The Crow stole a lot from The Wraith. Even the characters Skank and Gutterboy/Funboy.
Charlie Sheen is on record that Dodge wouldn't let him drive the Interceptor more than like 100 ft. Shame this never became a production car.
Really - They probably though he would take the Car & Shag Ass without finishing the Movie ! Then He could of bought it as it was for Sale Recently - They do Sell Kits to make your Own also .
There was an accident with the car during testing that ended up killing its driver. This put the kibosh on any kind of commercial release...
Thanks for doing this movie I love it. I had to find it on DVD and add it to my collection. Friends that come over and see it in my collection always ask what is this, they have never seen it but after I play it for them they love it. Keep up the great work 👍
Was a favorite as a child. I had it on a VHS recorded from cable.
This was one of my favorite movies as a kid!
This movie is one of my all time favorites like Big Trouble in Little China
Just wanted this on Hulu too
I never forgot about the movie; I always loved it from the first time I saw it back in the 80s at some point. The "Turbo Interceptor" car was super cool.
The Wraith is freaking awesome, I have this one on DVD, but your right Minty, everytime I ask my friends if they have seen, are want to watch the Wraith, there like never herd of it.
AJ Mason ffs, try writing so a translator isn't required.
You forgot about the 1984 Dodge M4S Turbo Interceptor that was in the movie it was a Indy 500 pace car with a 2.2 litre 4 cylinder Twin Turbo 440 hp and top speed of 196mph
It was a fun movie! I saw it in the theater when it came out (yup, I'm old). I enjoyed it A LOT more than Maximum Overdrive... And ya, should be pronounced RAY-th, not rath. :)
Hey Lenny did not remember the movie in theatres saw it on HBO it must of came and went by too fast but I must say Sherrilyn Fenn looked Hot back then before she made it big on Twin Peaks.
This was an awesome movie. One of my favorites. I think I even saw it IN a theater back in the day and then watched the VHS copy a 100 or so times too
I really loved........ 's soundtrack....
I completely forgot about this movie but instantly remembered it when I saw the thumbnail. Thank you for reminding me of it's existence.
One of my favorite movies of the 80's.... amazing list. You earned this like and subscribe, brother. Have a good one!
We rented this movie on VHS when I was a kid. I loved it, we even made a copy with the second VCR trick. You can also watch it for free on YT right now.
My parents rented this movie back when it came out on VHS and I Loved it ever since. 👍🏽 Awesome movie and awesome soundtrack.
This was our favorite movie when we were growing up in the '80s!
Unless i get amnesia I'll never forget this movie, it's pure high-octane awsomeness, loved it then and will always love it🖒😁👍🖒😁👍🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
I don't remember this coming out at the theater, but once I stumbled across it on cable late one night I was hooked. It should have been marketed better. Even the soundtrack alone would have gotten me to see it on the big screen. An overlooked gem.
Good video Minty! I barely remember that movie although after watching this video it brought back a lot of memories of it. Young Charlie Sheen, young Randy Quaid, and a young Clint Howard. So cool to get to see them at their youthful stage again.
One of my favourites!
And, yeah, no one seems to know it. I always felt I was the only fan in the world. Glad to see I'm not alone.
Your not the only one. I love this movie and watch it all the time. It's a classic.
When I was a kid I tried renting it from Blockbuster and they had to look it up in a book lol
I was introduced to this in high school when a friend and I rented it. He had seen it and loved it, I had never heard of it yet. Cool seeing you review it!
I remember it for Sherilyn Fenn in a bikini
845835ab and without!
@FoolishImpresario 410 Two Moon Junction
I remember being 5 or 6 years old and having to change the channel during that scene because I would have a funny feeling in my plums!
Loved her “twin peaks” LOL
I saw this when it hit VHS...I agree, this was a great movie. It was very emotional at then end when his brother was calling out to him to come back and halfway through realizing who it was...
i grew up in this movie. if your a car guy. the turbo interceptor is legend.
Wow! You actually grew up IN that movie?
How? Are you 90 minutes old?
How can you even be on the interwebz in a three dimensional universe?
Thank you MARK! I'm an old man now, but have watched almost every movie or televised movie or Shows ever made & this was very entertaining for me. Great 'CALL-BACK' on all the people who were so young then! Johnny Depp on the Film Crew, WOW! Didn't know that one! I wanted that Black Car, but knew it would be HARD TO SEE out of to drive it anywhere. I do love The 80'S for the EXPLOSION of MOVIES & MUSIC that changed the WORLD! Just like YOU, MARK, are doing now!! KEEP ROCKIN' ON, MY FRIEND!!!
love the wraith.when it was out. even have it on VHS and DVD. I loved the turbo Dodge interceptor.
One of the best love/scifi movies of the 80s, if you grew up in the 80s, you will understand.
I am one of the lucky ones.
I’m actually surprised this movie hasn’t been remade. The idea of the movie sounds like something the lends itself so easily to having a remake. Though it would probably miss the mark and focus to hard on the Wraith’s back story.
Choatemister problem is if it got remade everyone would just call it a ripoff of The Crow.
Gawd I would love a remake of this!
I've been hoping that a studio would do a remake or sequel to The Wraith for years now. Obviously they'd go into the hows and whys of the wraith itself, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. I'd just hope that they'd choose to continue with the hard rock/metal theme for the score. :D
If you wanna get technical, The Crow is a remake of this movie. Same concept, just uses a bird instead of a car.
I loved this movie when I was younger, it's just a fun and ridiculous romp and I was entertained. Now I might have to watch Wraith, Maximum Overdrive and The hitcher again. It's been 3 decades since I've seen any of them
