One Minute Duet | Blues with Greg Koch

If you are a guitar player, there's a good chance you already know of Greg's prowess and status as one of the top players around today. If you are not familiar with him, let's just say he's kind of a big deal in the world of guitar.⁠

Greg and I studied music together in college back in the late 80's, so I had the opportunity to play with him quite a bit back in the day, not only in classes but also local band gigs. So it's been cool for me to see the way his career and reputation has grown over the years.⁠

So now, with all us musicians stuck at home and doing everything online, I asked him if he'd be ok with my making an arrangement out of one of his Instagram videos, and he gave me the go-ahead. So here it is!
Greg's original video was a Hendrix-inspired ditty playing his signature Reverend Tele guitar tuned down to Eb (which is more convenient for us keyboardists anyway, so bonus!) On my end I added a kick drum, electric bass (played on keyboard), a piano track and finally an organ track. I was going for a gutbucket-bluesy jam band kind of feel overall.
