- Academics believe Malaysia is fast becoming an intolerant Muslim nation.
They are urging Malaysian Muslims to speak up. This comes in the wake of the ongoing persecution against the minority Syiah Muslims in the country.
Prof Dr Syed Farid Alatas, a professor of sociology at the National University of Singapore, said at a forum entitled "The Future of the Ummah: Voices of Unity and Harmony" on Saturday.

I would like to suggest Prof. Syed Farid al-Attas and other Ba Alawi descendants that are being the sympathiser of Shiah, to stand firm with the creed of their forefathers the Ba Alawi Saadah and his own great great grandfather Al-Habib Umar bin Abdul Rahman al-Attas, the Sohiburratib, which they were the Sufis and the 'champions' of Sunni creed.
Ignorance leads to Fear, and Fear Leads to Hatred, and when a Mob is Lead by hatred, it leaded to Conflict War and inhumanity.
Strange that a professor has to ask the Malaysian ulamas why they deemed the Shiahs are deviants. Just look at the Shiah core beliefs and deep hatred of even the so called Ahlil Bayt.

In Malaysia we practice only Asshafiee as a core foundation. even any other madzhab were prohibited to be thaught in mosque. its not only syiah.
Says who other mazdhab is prohibited to be taught? Does that mean other mazdhab is inferior than asshafiee? Imam malik of maliki mazdhab is the teacher of imam shafiee. Even in Malaysia we do not fully follow shafiee's school of thought.
