50-60 km without brakes! Great idea!
It's a fixie, a fixed gear bike, to brake you have to stop pedaling
@@eljigui9131 if you think about it though the gear ratio works in reverse too i think i haven't ridden a fixie before but if the gear ratio works in reverse then you get the same amount of torque back and it has very little torque so you're better off stopping by just letting air drag slow you down.

The ultimate bike, which can lead to you to hospital faster than the ambulance. He is going 50 kmph on a bike without brakes.
Before welding, the paint should have been removed. Also, rather than cut into the frame of the bike to add the hubs for the two new sets of sprockets, new pipe should have been welded onto the frame to add the hubs. Cutting the frame to weld in the hubs creates the possibility of the frame not being aligned perfectly straight afterwards, which adds structural weakness.
Also, gear ratio is way too high unless you do serious biking. I used to bike 24 miles every morning (took me two hours), my legs were huge, and I doubt I would have been able to get that bike going without struggling, or starting from the top of a hill
This thing is just meant to have the highest gear ratio he could think of without making a front gear the size of the wheel itself. It's a proof of concept, not a product.

I’d say this is comparable to launching your car in 3rd gear (assuming you didn’t stall). You’re gunna turtle for several seconds before any speed happens. Probably takes quite a bit of leg strength to initially get going. Awesome!
I mean, get it up to 45MPH and it'll go up that hill, so long as the hill don't last too long. XD
So what direction would you go with the ratio? or, does anyone even know what the ratio he has now is lol. 😆
@@kennethferguson9828 presumably you’d do what actual bikes do, which is have a derailleur so you can start in a low gear and adjust the gear ratio as you need to.

Can I have it?
Do you ever ride the bike?
Because it didn't work- nobody can go faster just because of higher gearing. In fact it would slow you down until you drop down a bunch of gears.
How did if feel?
So it is really difficult to start the bike with such a high gear ratio?
Can't even imagine how hard it would be to pedal this thing on slopes.
Nicely done though
And poor knees...
Did you calculate the drive ratio? Must be silly
The cameraman: 🏃🏽♂️💨

On such a bike, you would be more limited by aerodynamics and slopes. On a hard flat surface it would be very fast, any slope would cause you to slow down and eventually stall out.
Take a while to get up to speed though.

Which would be a better braking solution:rim brakes or disc brakes?
Asparagus physic obligaytion
unless your legs are extremely powerful one gear reduction is enough - it makes for a more simple design with only 2 chains instead of three
I was thinking 2 sets of pedals. One set like normal bike, the other for high speed. Then you could switch between conditions (uphill-downhill etc.). Upper pedals might have smaller cranks. But then simpler to have e-bike..! :)
@@RJSoftware2000 that is actually a good ideas, a separate gear ratio for different speeds and possibly different riding positions based on the speed

Congratulations sir,
Great work.. Good design.
That huge front sprocket @ 2seconds is insane. I've seen REAR sprockets dang near that big on the back wheel of dirt bikes which must top out at about 7 mph. Lol
Yeah, but with that much torque, they can probably climb walls!
Quite a long number of years ago, Hot Rod Magazine had a article about a guy setting the bicycle paced land speed record. They built a shed on the back of a car, seems like it was a supercharged '58 Chevy. The cyclist pedaled inside the shed while the car and shed pushed the air out of the way. That bike had a front sprocket bigger than a pizza pan, as I recall.
Got to love the spray paint lube on the chains!
The whole point of this project was to make a cool video, so of course some of the painting choices aren't the most practical.
Guy took L + Ratio to a whole another dimension

I love how he’s going 50mph on a bike and has no brakes
I think that's 50kph, so 30mph.
50kph =/= 50mph
Easy to do when you're hyper-focused
Now let's see it go uphill😁
Can we do amplify the angular velocity of the tyre by using more no of that discs to make the bicycle to go with a speed of sound or speed of light?
You never see him actually start up so he's likely getting a push from a friend to get started. Fun idea though!
Cool build all those chains and no need for a single chain tensioner cool
Because it is single speed. But somebody has to pull/push him to start.
Ride any standard race bike and you'll find it already has gear ratios higher than what you can usefully pedal. With these enormous ratios the amount of torque needed is beyond what your legs can supply so you'll actually go slower than with a lower ratio. Air resistance limits speed on a bike as it goes up exponentially with speed.
I tu dopiero mogę się spodnie w łańcuch wkręcić 😁😁😁😁😁
You google "single speed efficiency" and it says 97%. Adding 2 more chains to the mix would bring it down to 91% (if I did my math right). Considering how hard this would be to pedal and the efficiency loss makes it very counter productive, but at least it looks cool, right?

Awesome! Let me buy a hole saw, some gears, some extra chains, welding equipment, oh and a bike ... Wait I have a car...why am I thinking about this?
I’ve always wanted to do this! It’s so cool to see it in reality! I also wanted to apply these principles to a generator.
These principles in generator, really?🙄🙄
Generator requires huge torque to rotate the shaft. This setup didn't work for genarator.
@raydubBALTANseijin It does apply, but in the opposite way of what you want in a generator generally
@@sandeepvardhan7583 Generators are powered through induction, which makes little to no resistance. So if you have a high torque, you want to convert that to speed before you get a good current off it.
What effect would that have? it would still generate the same amount of power

Then finally I realised that when Im going that speed,I forgot to make brake system.
Fast bike! I'm sure that fitting one of the gear wheels in lieu and place of the saddle would have made it even faster!
I always wanted a bike with a high gear ratio, such that one pedal revolution = 5 wheel revolutions or something.
I know ya’ll nerds be like “it’ll take more power to run it though”, and I’m aware of that thank you very much. But if there’s a wide range of gear ratios in a bike shop, I’d go with the one that fits my muscles while also getting me miles in under minutes.

Regardless of the efficiency, you've made a rideable art piece!
Not so "rideable" without brakes
What do you mean by efficiency? A pulley system reduces the force that needs to be applied to get momentum. You get more speed with less force applied. I don't get it what's the problem with this ?
@@MybeautifulandamazingPrincess probably efficiency in general, for example the human effort that takes to start up the bike to a reasonable speed

I was actually thinking of doing something like this, thanks allot buddy for the ideas on position of where I can put the bottom bracket 😺👍 subscribed I bet that was a good workout getting that up to speed, I know it would of been for me lol
Frankly, gearing has never stopped me from reaching maximum speeds, it's always been aerodynamics and pulmonary / cardiovascular capacity...
@@rey_nemaattori Agreed. If anything gearing helps because it's possible to squat 400lbs compared to 20x20lbs in a second... Also agreed, it's always my cardio endurance that fails first; it'd have failed at lighter ratios just for the aerobics vs intensity. My cardio has always been terrible, hate it, hate it, hate it.
@@GRAYgauss Gearing absolutely helps, but it always is a trade off in power required per stroke. Eventually you're going to need so much power it simply becomes impossible. Especially since you're not just pressing 400 lbs in a second, but _every second_, thats when either fatigue kick in, the muscles can't move the load or the body can't supply enougj oxygen.
For most people it's easier to press 20 lbs for 20 seconds that to press 400 even once .
@@rey_nemaattori Eh, bad numbers on my part. I was imagining squatting and that force that goes into pedalling when I go up hill. My point is that the human body can't move fast enough to pedal 20lbx20 in 1 second, but we COULD pedal 400lbs once in one second. For me, it's easier to pump more per cycle than many cycles, because I have terrible cardio but good mass/strength ratio.
Bad numbers again, but that's the idea...The balance in my mind is most efficient when biased towards 20% speed and 80% max force rather than 80% speed at 20% force. Agreed with what you said on power, but for me I'm biased to feel that high speeds are more impossible than high torques. The fastest I can go isn't when I'm peddling like a demon, but when I'm taking about 5-6 seconds per foot to torque through and the entire follow-through feels like a rocket acceleration.
Speed bike with no breaks, amazing 😂
That is weight reduction
The bike needs no break. The bike breaks you.
Can this be made into a velo bike? Like for offroad? Like a go kart you power with the gears, sitting down in like a vehicle that's like two equilateral triangles together in a octahedron?
Imagine climbing up a hill with this cycle
Es muy impresionante, pero al tener mayor velocidad es necesario tener mejores frenos verdad ?
the Gen 2 for this should be set to let you shift into a low range for the initial start and going uphill
"oh no, I have encountered my worst enemy, a slight inclination"
If you wish to increase the speed of these bikes, apply more force to the pedals. There's no way to pedal slowly and move first.
when i saw this i was like: oh crap he speedy as frick
Would be interesting to see it with an electric assist
Imagine if there was a motor and you can change the gear to make it slower or faster. Since it's a bike with a motor, I would probably call it a motorcycle.
Probably not a very good idea, putting that much load on a motor for that long will overheat it and reduce its lifetime and also reduce efficiency , kind of like you don't start your car at 4th gear, assuming you could even get it started at that gear. You can try out something similar at home if you just buy a simple 3V motor and power it up and then hold the shaft of the motor tight for like 2 minutes, you should notice it getting at least a bit hotter
I can feel my legs getting bigger watching this
The point is not to ride fast with his bicycle, it is to be viewed on youtube rapidly. He has succeeded
What would happen if someone did that, but he/she also put a big gear next to the small gear on the back axle with another chain attaching the big gear to the chain drive? Will there be both speed & torque or would one cancel the other out in the process.
it would cancel out
Thats a crank
The real question is how many watts is he outputting to get that speed. He's fighting a lot of wind as well

That helmet is gonna help him save his soul from escaping from his body so yeah it is 5🌟 safety for me.
there is, however an inversely proportional correlation between torque and gear speed... since it can go faster, that also means it takes a ton more effort.
