Midway did an absolutely incredible job with the N64 version, it's pushing a crazy amount of trackside detail and lighting. Even kept stuff like the faked car reflections.
there's a *lot* more of that trackside detail and other things (virtually exactly like the DC version), including moving objects, if you use the n64 expansion pak. the fact that this comparison video doesn't use that renders it pointless IMHO.
That is not faked car reflections, its just a basic low quality reflections used in alot of the 90s racing games.
Pushing the n64 to far. frame rate is very low, should have cut some detail.
Amazing to think the N64 and Dreamcast are only two years apart. Felt like ages back then between the two. Every month was something new and exciting to play

Was 2 and half years, but even then it seems mad.
The view distance is amazing for an N64 game.
Of course the DC wins, but the N64 version is very good considering it's a previous generation system.
I noticed the N64 version is without the expansion pak (no music + windmill missing it's wings at 7:07 expansion pak adds details + musics)
which won't necessarly increase the framerate I guess :D

@@cristianramallo8042 es correcto, y el hecho de usar el Expansion Pak no es para aumentar el framerate como dicen los colegas aquí arriba, sino es para detalles en movimiento que ocupan más memoria RAM, como lo son los tranvías, metros, jets y la antena parabólica en la pista 3, música en las pistas, cambio de rines en las llantas, entre otros aspectos visuales. Lo que sí doy un crédito a los programadores, es que pudieron lograr tener multiplayer con 4 a la vez con música sin Expansion Pak 😱, o sea, le dieron mas importancia al multiplayer con el Jumper Pak. Increíble port para el N64 👍👍
@@hrgl5669 el Nintendo 64 era una maquina muy avanzada para su época, no solo muy potente sino que también usaba lo último de NEC, pero tenía cuellos de botella muy graves, además sacar provecho a la programación en micro código llevaba tiempo extra para aprender, la empresa Factor 5 decía haber usado esa característica, y saco los juegos de naves de star wars que la verdad hacen la diferencia
The higher frame rate really makes a difference
I have played the Dreamcast version a whole bunch and it is awesome both graphically and overall. However, the N64 version looks really great considering the hardware limitations. The colored lighting which remained intact in the N64 version looks great.
N64 only has 4MB of ram! Amazing they could get anything to run on that tiny machine

That first year with the Dreamcast, was totally like a dream. As a longtime Sega console/software fan, it felt like the glory days again. We knew not playing DVDs was a terrible mistake, but for the time, we blocked it out and enjoyed the massive leap and all the new content. I think if every Sega fan will be honest, we knew more than likely, when the PS2, Sony would be pushing the Dreamcast out of the way. No one was completely sure about the XBox but, seeing some video of it performing, hearing about the specs on the inside plus, like the PS2, being able to play your DVDs, we knew we were in serious trouble.
So, we enjoyed it while we could. I would buy a new Sega console today, if they came out with one.

Esse jogo é muito bonito no N64 e ainda mais no Dreamcast.
Mas é incrível os efeitos de luz que o N64 entrega com um hardware tão limitado! E quanto ao framerate, está aceitável, jogando no hardware original a gente se adapta de boas!
Marota, outros dois jogos que são muito bonitos no N64 até serem jogados no Dreamcast, são o Tony Hawk e Spiderman, adoraria acompanhar um comparativo entre eles futuramente. ✌️😉
I played the hell out of this game demo on the Dreamcast, the physics were so good and it was so much fun flying off ramps and deploying the wings.

Impresionante la capacidad gráfica del Nintendo 64, para la fecha en mi opinión mejor que la psone lastima que carecía del sistema de CD y Nintendo en ese tiempo se preocuparon mucho con respecto a la piratería y los obligó a usar cartuchos para sus juegos,
The best thing about this game was battle mode. I still play this mode with friends several times a year on dreamcast. The best multiplayer game I've ever played
Oh nostalgia. My friends and I always duked it out with this game on N64! Never knew there was a Dreamcast port though. Pretty impressive I have to say!

Esta aí um game que mostra o quanto poderoso o N64 era nas mãos de empresas certas ,a versão de Dreamcast é a cópia carbono do arcade não teria como não ser pois o poder do console supera o arcade já a versão de N64 apesar de não ser o carbono do arcade mostra o quanto o console evoluiu desde o primeiro Rush de 97 pois aqui a qualidade gráfica e de distância de cenários estão incríveis quase que no nível do Dreamcast por questões técnicas meu voto vai na versão de N64 por explorar e muito o console e a versão Dreamcast é sem dúvida a perfeição do arcade.

i cant believe the dreamcast resolution was only 640 x 480. it looked crystal clear at the time compared to n64, i thought it was at least 720p.

En Bogotá habian salones de consolas que las rentaban por 30 minutos o más y allí lo jugué, en principio me pareció tonto que SEGA sacara un juego que ya existía para N64 pero cuando lo vi funcionando en DC vi que era más "fluido", lo que hoy llamamos _framerate_
@@deltakid0 es correcto, solo un pequeño que tuvo la versión de DC, la usar disco, que es el eterno problema de los discos: los tiempos de carga; cosa que en N64 no tenía al ser una unidad en estado sólido ROM 👍👍 una cosa por otra.
Spent most time with the N64 version (I remember salivating over the Nintendo Power previews) but was happy to get the upgraded version!
Midway did great jobs with their N64 ports. I had and preferred the DC versions of this, Hydro Thunder, NBA Showtime/NFL Blitz, but the N64 versions are all equal as far as playability
Sem dúvidas a versão do DC é melhor, tá lado a lado da versão arcade, mas para um jogo de N64, a Midway fez um bom trabalho!

Happy to see these types of comparisons. They shouldn't be bound to generations of hardware. Seeing the leap from one gen to the next is very interesting IMO.
Dreamcast wins easily but the N64 version is actually pretty good.

Played this a ton with friends on the DC but only the stunt mode, don't think I ever played the racing part. It still holds up, give the stunt mode a try it's pretty unique.
this IS NOT a fair comparison considering you didn't use the N64's expansion pak which actually adds a TON of detail and animation to the track environments that's missing without it. you need to redo this and use the expansion pak to make it a fair comparison.

Isso remonta muito aquelas épocas que você tinha um PC só com a VGA onboard e conseguia rodar o game...Lembra muito o pensamento da época (pelo menos roda no meu pc kkkkk) No mais, excelente port pro N64 msm.

Muy impresionante la versión de n64, no hay neblina que tape el formado del camino, alto conteo de polígonos, excelente gráficos, lo único malo es el frame rate, pero muy buena versión, para ser de 64 bits

@@hrgl5669 es correcto, la mayoría de juegos usaban ese pésimo "efecto" para disimular el formado de terreno, y aquí como mencionas, sin el uso de expansión pack, se ve muy muy bien en ese aspecto

The sound quality on the N64 was quite good.
1. The voice quality was loud and clear.
2. The Select Track music sounded great.
10:54 Little too fast there. I mean it look cool doing a 360 of the ramp. 2nd place but looking awesome is still kind of a win.
Dentre todas as versões que joguei a de dreamcast é a mais bonita visualmente, até mesmo q as versões de PS2 e GameCube
A versão de PS2 eu achei muito escura e foi um port mal feito, dá muito slowdown.
A versão de Dreamcast é a mais bonita e otimizada de todas.
Não sabia que o Nintendo Game Cube e Playstation 2 também tinha esse jogo!
Então ele é um port de Arcade para todos esses consoles !

De toda forma a versão de Nintendo 64 impressionante por todos os detalhes que possui sendo quase idêntica à versão de Dreamcast claro que dentro das limitações do propio console!
Impressionante é o fato que se os desenvolvedores quiserem conseguem colocar um jogo que as vezes nem parece que o console poderia rodar mas com um pouco de boa vontade consegue ! mesmo com alguns sacrifícios a experiência do jogo original está lá!

Is crazy that it looks like the N64 was using the Gamecube port! The N64 was one heck of a power house console with most games! & heck the Dreamcast port looks just like the Original XBOX port! If you can, i say do a Dreamcast vs the XBOX Next! & The N64 is pushing it's limits no doubt. It's trying to imitate the Dreamcast power but dang is struggling.
Just may may have to download this for Dreamcast. I had it for the n64 back in the day and played the crap out of it! Crazy how much better the visuals are
Outra coisa que me lembrei agora é que se esse game tivesse saído no cenário atual da guerra sony x microsoft é o N64 fosse da Sony, é muito capaz da versão Dreamcast ficar igualzinha a do N64 (pra quem não sabe, um dos termos que a sony tá exigindo das empresas é que elas não utilizem toda a capacidade do xbox series pra não ficar muito diferente da versão PS5).

I played this game on N64 with an expansion pack and it was good but my cousins had the dreamcast version and i remember thinking it felt and looked way better still!

Parece que no, pero nintendo 64 era una consola muy potente para su época, creo que su único inconveniente fue que nintendo optó por usar el cartucho como soporte y no el CD. Por cierto... soy fanático de Sega y para mi Dreamcast supone un antes y un después en la industria del video juego.

The car reflection maps and some background Skyboxes looks better on N64, its amazing game....surpasses anything on PSX and ofc Saturm

I surely wish we could of got a remake of Cruisin USA for the Dreamcast. It probably would of been superior to the arcade version and would be a must have and highly sought after game for the system today if they had released it. We are only left to wonder and imagine what could of potentially been the best arcade racing port to a home system of all time.💭💭💭 It hurts me just to think about how great it would of been.😩

Yo lo llegue a jugar en una pantalla led de 32 pulgadas usando la salida VGA y se ve Super bien muy nítido todo, otro juego que luce bien en un monitor led es RAYMAN 2 The Great Escape y mas por el hecho de que ese juego soporta el aspect ratio 16:9 en dreamcast, obviamente usando salida VGA también.
I prefer the N64 version because it's cartridge based no load times baby 😊
The arcade 3dfx graphics was ahead of all consoles, the dreamcast could do a better job but the lazy programmers screw it.
To be fair, Sega had screwed over so many 3rd party developers that it's hard to blame them for just using the Dreamcast as a dumping ground for quick and dirty ports that bumped up the resolution and the frame rate.

Inexcusable not to show both of these games at their very best. Neither version has the music switched on and the N64 version clearly doesn't have the Expansion Pack installed as a bunch of moving details in the environment are completely missing. You need it to play the final track too.
Then make the comparison yourself
She only uses the expansion pack on N64 games, when its to the game's detriment. Like if it makes the framerate chug.
dreamcast seems to be somewhere in the middle of model 2 and model 3 hardware.. prob closer to model 3 than 2

I don't mind N64's graphics but I prefer Dreamcast's framerate much more.

No contest the Dreamcast kills the N64 port by a mile a half but its commendable that they managed to get SR2049 working on the N64 which by that time was showing its age.

In the description says 1996 but in the tittle game says 1999.
I think there was a discussion/complaint about that before and now it shows the console release date, not the game release date.
That's the hardware date. Look at the top for the software date.

DC won, the contrast, graphics, fps, colours and sound. N64 had a great version, but so more popping and less details.

LOL… you know anything about console specs? Having CD format would not allow the N64 to match the Dreamcast level of performance and would actually cripple the N64 hardware in some ways
