- The Chicago Union Station is a popular destination for many travelers to Chicago. This video shows travelers to the station what they can expect to see upon arrival. From the great hall to the food court to the Metra and CTA, they can all be found at the Union station.
I did an earlier video on the union station last year, I see that it did get a lot of views, so I wanted to do a second one with a little more detail given.

Every time I go to Chicago, those speakers saying “track number …” are the first sound I hear every time I get there. A staple of Chicago sounds
Went through here twice in Sept of 22. Beautiful place and very friendly staff and others. So glad to have union station as the hub from dc to west coast and back.
Couldn't agree more!
Had a walkthrough here too in March 2023. Chicago is a beautiful city. Why they didn't implement this in my city here in Nashville, TN is beyond me since the city keep growing.
A look around the Chicago Union Station that was built in May 16th 1925 for many railroads, including one of my favorite railroads of all time, the Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe Railroad or mainly known as the Santa Fe Railroad. The station is now being used for Amtrak and Chicago Metra trains.
Thanks for the historical information about the station, and appreciate you stopping in
@@TravGuideChannel No problem, if you want to learn more about trains just ask someone like me.
thank you for the informative video. It helps a lot!
Your welcome and have a safe trip
I've visited here but never needed to use the transportation. My train goes to Ogilvie TC (From Harvard).. But my son and I are planning a trip on the Amtrak Empire Builder which leaves from Union Station. Glad the two Stations are so close we can just walk from one to the other.
Hope you have a safe and enjoyable trip
Best shoe shine stand east of the Mississippi River.
Thanks for the video, very complete. I didn’t know the station was actually connected to the river via the escalators from the food court / waiting area.
And just across the river is the Sears tower( now called the Willis Tower). If ever you are at the station and have some free time, it might be worth visiting as well. The sky deck at the 104th floor gives you a nice panoramic view of the city.
excelente video, thanks by sharing. Maybe you can help me. What route do i have to take for (ORD) Airport? or what are your recommendation about it?
For most people, they would probably take the CTA train (blue line). But there is a metra train that takes you to the airport as well.

I have seen also locker self storage rentals at the departure gate area. I haven’t used them myself and it’s been a while since I been to gate area, so can’t say if they still are there.
do they do bag checks??
“Where do I check and pick up my baggage?
Baggage Check is located on the Concourse level. The cost to check a bag is $10 per bag.
Baggage Claim is located in the South Concourse.
Refer to the Station Map for these locations.”
