Absolutely beautiful, and the dimensions look perfect for small to medium glassy lines. A real work of art with the stringer and poppy accent. I really enjoyed the video as well, oddly relaxing to watch.
Cheers, I really appreciate that. A few more videos in the works, hopefully coming soon!
Dude! That thing turned out so rad. Love the stringer and tail block. Beautiful work.

Haha, well if you're learning something or enjoying it I'd say no time wasted 😉
all I could think about is all the boards I ruined because I rushed it trying to go surf :) lol@@Whitburn.Surfboards
inspiring now. need to repair a few of mine. 😂
Haha, no time like the present 😆
Throuroughly enjoyed the process + shaping ASMR, came out great!
Thanks so much for watching and I'm glad you enjoyed it
brilliant
really dig the stringer , goes well with a classic looking outline
Thanks!
Cool video and great looking board. The stringer really is art in itself - maybe for the next board offset the logo and the pressed poppy to let the full stringer show thru.
Thanks mate, and yeah those are good ideas. There's still a lot of stringer on show even with them in the way though 👌👌
Stunning board man.. really enjoyed watching

Thanks! A new video is in the works 🙌
Epic
Thanks!
really nice! Could you explain how you cap off your finbox with glass without resin going into it? I noticed you did without the tape, not stressful hoping resin won't leak in? @14:00
Well spotted. Yeah, pretty stressful the first time I did it, but I find if you saturate the cloth around the box slowly, i.e not just dragging loads of resin over it, you're golden.
So glad this video came up on my feed! Very nice job and a pleasure to watch. A rookie question: do you clean and reuse the brushes, or is it more common to have them as disposal?
Glad you enjoyed it! That's a great question. The majority of people throw their brushes away after each use because it's easy and the brushes are cheap. Depending on the resin being used the brushes can be saved though. If you're using polyester resin then you can use acetone (not nice stuff), and epoxy white vinegar works well. I try to save every brush, but admit I do forget sometimes if I'm busy working on multiple things. If that happens I'll break the brush down, with the wooden handle becoming firewood, the metal part going in the recycling and the hardened bristles going in the bin.
@@Whitburn.Surfboards Thank you very much for the tips! Acetone sounds nasty indeed. Will be looking forward to the future videos, although realize this kind of projects may take a while!
@@1001Bull I have another video in the works but it's a really long one to make! Stay tuned
does resin not get in the box when you glass right over like that without tape? i see it often but never understood how that’s possible
The first time I did it was by accident - forgot to tape the slot. Turns out if you saturate it carefully without flooding the slot then you can get away with it. Won't work with smaller side boxes, like futures as you'll definitely get resin in the screw hole. Thanks for watching!
Where’d you get the long router bit?
Amazon, but I wouldn't recommend it. During use recently it bent, I think I'm lucky it didn't hurt me..
What bit are you using?
It's a long router bit, but the shank ended up bending during use (wasn't even cutting any material at the time). I won't buy that bit again and won't recommend it as I consider it dangerous
I guess I'll mention it was a generic yellow router bit off Amazon in case anyone sees it and is tempted to buy it. Don't!
Most shapers don't glass. Impressive you do both, and with talent for both. You explain much of the process, but details like shaping rocker and concave along with resin/ catalyst mix and just getting the right curve to the masking tape take years to learn.
Since some aspiring sharper or glasses might be watching, I'll just throw in the importance of wearing the best masks money can buy. Super Dangerous dust and fumes.
You're absolutely right, there's so much more to say. I could have spoken for the entire video and some! Masks are very important as you say, I like to use extraction systems when sanding and using the planer for that reason. I rarely use polyester resin but do always wear a mask when cutting fibreglass and using epoxy too. Appreciate your comments, I'm still learning and have a long way to go 👍
Beautiful work !!!
Thanks!
nice work !!!
Thanks!
