- This is a vintage video by Drew Losch of Roy Benavidez speaking at our annual Soldier of the Year Awards Ceremony in Cleveland, Ohio back in 1991 when Desert Storm was about to take place. Please take a few moments to honor Roy, his service and message to our youth and country. It was a pleasure to meet MSG Benavidez and capture this memorable occasion on video. A true hero in my book. Master Sargent Benavides should never be forgotten thank you Master Sargent Benavides for your service and the freedom we all Americans have to this day .
I went to the Nuremburg Military Hospital for an injury, and Saw a Huge wall painting honoring Him! It was back in '94, His Story just Blew me away! Definitely my Personal Hero!!! SALUTE! 🍻

My recruiter showed me a clip of Pres Reagan's speech when he presented the Medal Of Honor to MSGT Benavidez two weeks after 9/11....I enlisted that day, served two combat tours in Iraq....Benavidez is a national hero, I'm proud that I wore the same uni that he did, and his life and actions under fire were incredible....Hooah

@Castle Coatl Yes indeed , Mr. Benavidez was a special soldier and will remind us all what a fine example of a GODLY soldier he was but you also have proof that not only you belong but with reason. Ask me what's my proof ?? God in creating woman and mankind created an ID tag identifying everyone in the form of hand and feet prints .........not anyone two are the same and has never been the same since the beginning of time. So you are very special indeed and your purpose will come clear to you in time. One last thing , your mexican and Yaqui indian heritage are most recent but the blood that runs through your veins are more ancient than the mexican and yaqui culture you talk about. Take pride mi hermano from another mother. Much respect to you and a personal thank you for serving our country. May God Bless you and the soldiers that are out there fighting for this country.

Everytime I see something about Sgt. Roy Benavides it makes me wonder about what a movie this would make. I read two of his books while going through stage 4 cancer that helped me have the grit to carry on. God Bless this HERO And his family.

Army SF candidates and SF Operators will never forget MSG Benavidez. When confronted w/ an obstacle they can't overcome in training, or when additional courage needs to be summoned in combat, they are taught to yell TANGO MIKE MIKE. Which was MSG Benavidez's call sign.

It's amazing that any medal of Honor member, has more respect than any military general.
Roy always makes me cry like a baby. What a strong selfless man that will not give up. Ever and probably died and was so badass he saved everyone around him even 3 dead enemy not to leave anyone behind. Beyond legend because it is true. God bless Roy....
This is a real man. A man's man. I was in active service in the Army way back when he was. 1962-65. Ft Benning Ga and Korea. I would have loved to have met him. Both grunts, infantry. I've watched every youtube video I can find about this man. He never stopped giving to the country he loved.

Every time I listen to this Gr8 hero I have to salute his butt, when he passed away, we really lost a soldier that was very proud from within and when I listen to him during his speeches, I really wish I could have met him in person at Ft. Bragg, I probably crossed paths with him countless times, the man was a real character and Amazing hero.
Wow......I'm 36 and have been a Police Officer for 14 years, and can't figure out how I've never heard of this man! I just discovered him tonight! I was never in the military but have lots of friends who were. This video is definitely added to my favorites! 9 days will be 20 years since he died. I'll definitely be posting something about it on FB!

Just watched a video from his daughter. A soldier who knew Roy, sent her Roy's beret. Roy apparently gave him his beret in thanks, for donating blood when Roy was torn up.
Yes he was a real. Rambo. And i had the privilege of meeting him at northeast hospital where i worked. He was a polite gentle man and more. Recently i gave my brother pete a copy of his book for his 80 th bday. Cause my baby brother frank barrientez and eliseo flores were there. Too
An amazing man. Humble, lover of our great Country and proud as can be of it. I wonder what Roy would say about those who kneel during the anthem. God bless you Roy and thank you for the inspiration you provide me with each and every day.

Fort Bragg was full of tough NCO's in the 60's. This guy was one of the toughest. If you were a Pfc you didn't want to get on their bad side.

i was 21 years old in the Army and here of MSG Roy Benavidez and i seeing his video i sing up for the 82 air boro and i sing for the 75 be and the 2 inf ben and i made it and i sign with the Green Berets and i work hard to be like him Roy Benavidez he was like a dad to me

I still feel that before I would write something about a war hero such as MSG Benavidez I would at least take a moment to use spell check and the translator available on Google. Especially if he was like a son to him. If nothing more than respect.

Great Job MSG and great job of your continued motivation to our troops currently serving and those who have completed their service to country. I hope that Hollywood pick up your life story and makes a movie. Loved the poem on the flag. I think most have forgotten the story and history of the flag. I also have served and understand pain and commitment. I now serve in a different Army (God's Army) but proud to have served in the United States Army and would gladly serve again. We do not choose all the memories but accept the service to the nation. May God help us all to heal from all wounds and continue serve proudly our nation and our God through Jesus Christ my Lord and savior.
I'm just finding out about Mr. Benavidez and his heroism. What a great soldier and I just don't understand how a movie has not been made for this man. I just added Mr. Benavidez to a long list of folks that hollywood needs to make a movie on as well. Mr. Benavidez, Roberto Clemente, etc (feel free to add on) ........ .
I guess there would never be a movie of this great hero. The reason is very simple : Roy had not the right colour skin for Hollywood. Namely : WHITE !!!

Unless it was made by Gary Sinise I don’t think Hollywood should make a movie about him cause they would screw it up. Instead make it a requirement to view all his videos & read his book in order for every student to pass 8th grade.
Unfortunately critical race theory is being shoved into school systems which does nothing but promote hate. Here in Ga., Fort Benning may have taught him how to jump but he taught us the meaning of how to honor & respect our flag/ country with his bravery.
