his story is just the thing to listen to when you're feeling down and out. he shows that you're only down until you get back up and you're not out if you're still alive. as a fellow vietnam war vet I'm disappointed at how many people are called heroes when what they've done is nothing compared to this man. this man is truly a hero
who in their right mind had the indecency to dislike this video, only one rotten soul out there hit the dislike button, but there is no reason for even one
A hell of a man. Did anyone make a movie about him. Rambo have nothing on him. Thank you for what you did👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏👏👏👏❤️❤️❤️❤️💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💪💪💪💪💪💪💪🙏🙏🙏🙏 Man create wars not god. Got kept him. Real True awesome man.
Roy Benavides was a doer. Not a talker. Went on a suicide mission, with no qualms, as to the outcome. We knew berserk, on the enemy, to save his brothers. Spent 2 years in VA. Hospital recuperating. Texas tuff.
Is it any coincidence that many American heroes come from Texas?! I have an ex coworker who served in Vietnam who actually met and knew MM master sergeant Benavidez. A true American Bad Ass
MSG Benavidez received the Medal of Honor, not the "Congressional Medal of Honor". Military regulations and the applicable US Code refer to the Medal of Honor, with only 1 mention ever including the word "Congressional" -- which IIRC is mentioning the Congressional Medal of Honor Society (e.g. an award society authorized by Congress).
NO disrespect meant to this man - or countless others like him (on ALL 'sides') - but was what he - and they - suffered, worth the pathetic way this world is run today? RIP ALL who believed and gave over and above - and then some!...
Yes. I think you can break it down to several aspects that explain the worth: 1) the self discipline and sacrifice that he and others would make in behalf of a people and country; 2) the loyalty and dedication to the principles they (he) swore to uphold; 3) the dedication to his comrades in arms. It's impossible to say what history will emerge and a dedication to a present reality is the worth that must be the primal focus. Hindsight is only a tool useful for learning for future conflict. It should never be used to determine the decisions made at a specific time in history. More important is our efforts to not repeat mistakes, which is more tragic.
This is why stolen valor is a serious charge. When men like Benevidez earn awards and respect with blood and courage; they've earned it. To wear the uniform, awards and decorations, and never served is dishonest and cowardly. If you served, you swore an oath of allegiance to the US Constitution. If you didn't swear that oath, don't wear our uniform.
No words, but what a true hero, man, and legend.
This should be played at every school. True Hero and Great American!!!
'a positive attitude will carry you further than ability' What an amazing man! Rest In Peace, Mr Benavidez.
Sir, I am not american, but I felt proud for such devotion and discipline. God bless you!
