Over 150,000 of these unique vehicles were sold in the US, most of which were than $50,000 or more when new. The majority of these vehicles were equipped with an air suspension system designed by parent company General Motors.
When the air system was working properly, a series of electronic sensors relayed information to a microprocessor, which in turn told an onboard air compressor if the system needed more air to inflate a pair of rubber air springs at the rear. The rubber air springs (air bags) took the place of conventional steel coil springs that are used on most vehicles.
Millions of cycles of going up and down, and side to side, plus dry rot because of age eventually cause tiny cracks to form in the rubber edges or creases of the air springs. Air begins to seep slowly at first, then leak rapidly from the air springs as the cracks spread. This causes the onboard air compressor to run almost non-stop. The compressor overheats and quits intermittently or all at once. And down the back of the vehicle will go, losing from three to five inches of ride height.
This scenario is not unique to the Hummer H2. Factory air suspensions of any brand will have a 100% failure rate. Age and mileage wears them all out eventually.
Instead of getting on a PARTS MERRY GO-ROUND and spending money time and time again replacing components, Strutmasters has a permanent solution to the problem. Our suspension conversion kit features high-quality American steel coil springs and shocks tuned for the front and rear of the vehicle.
Remember the air springs primary function is to hold up the weight of the vehicle, while the shocks deliver the dampening or ride quality. That's why our best product features brand new shocks for all four wheels of the vehicle.
Our entire company began with a scenario much like the one you are facing right now.
A salesman named Chip Lofton was in the middle of his first family vacation in years when the air suspension on his 1989 Lincoln Continental began to fail. Lofton was unable to afford a $3500 estimate from the local dealer to go back with original equipment parts. So he went to work and developed the first fully assembled suspension conversion kit in 1999.
The company is still headquartered in North Carolina, where Lofton leads a team that strives to provide the best products and customer service in the industry. All of their conversion kits are assembled in small batches by experienced employees to ensure the highest quality.
Don't learn the hard way! Avoid multiple repairs that come with fixing the existing system (especially with cheap, imitation parts). Fix It Once, Fix It Right with the original -- Strutmasters!

Best idea ever. Why continue to have a part that will fail over and over. Nope, get rid of the weak link and put some coils in that thing.
