After six years of avoiding him, Max has at last returned to Jin Kazama in Tekken 7, after seeing all the cool stuff he can do in Tekken 8, in hopes of finally understanding this character. And yeah...he's not easy....at all.

Jin is honestly a reverse Ryu.
-Wandering monk who sees purpose through conflict?
Nope, terrorist.
-Newcomer friendly main character?
Nope, one of the hardest characters to use.
-Stoic but friendly personality?
Nope, Jin seeks power not to different from his father.
Terrorist? Yeah sure
Here's hoping t8 returns our boi to main character status
@@StarShadow9009 Isn't that what 7 is doing?
@@mid90sshinigami bro snoozing the whole game, there's no way jin's a protag in 7's

Max learns the art of not sugarcoating.
daaaaaaaamn
➡️⭐⬇️↘️👊
Why are people saying "sugarcoating " ????? I dont get it
@@JIX9ISLER1986 I don't know what sugercoating means but it's a meme
*But that's not Kazuya*
Jin's Strong Point:
Tools for every situation. 50/50, Poking, Throws, Pressure, Wall Carry, Okizeme, Wavedash, Electric, Parry. Most (if not all of his moves) are useful to a degree.
Jin's Weak Point:
Tools for every situation. You have to know WHEN and HOW to use it, making the "simple" movelist have much more worth than it looks giving Jin a high execution barrier. You need to WORK for your wins.
Basically, Jack of All Trades, Master of None.
Jin has strong Okizeme? His only move that both beats get up kicks and hits grounded is d4, which is punishable. And it also knocks them away allowing them to get up safely afterwards. He has one of the weakest oki in the game. His electric is also noticeably weaker from the mishimas, since it recovers much slower and has much less combo utility due to its crappier hitbox. Pressure is kinda meh too. Everything else checks out. You should also mention his crappy range due to his t-rex arms in the weak points.
@@MrLifein66 That's why I said "tools for every situation"; I didn't say he has "good" tools. In comparison to some characters' movelists, some of Jin's moves are a little weaker.
EWHF leads to a Screw instead of a true Launch like EWGF. Okizeme options are available but weak. Bad range with his arms so he is forced to take mid-range.
@@y.matocinos8448 I mean sure, but by that logic every character in the game has "tools for every situation".
The hook fist isn't worse because the combo is weaker, the main strength of the ewgf is that it is very hard to whiff punish, due to its fast recovery, that's why mishimas can throw ewgf's as keepout and its a viable option. On the other hand, the ewhf much, much easier to punish if the Jin whiffs it.
His other weakness imo is while his punishment is really good, it has stubby range.
So be careful, otherwise it'll whiff
Jin is really complicated, but very rewarding when you learn him!
It's almost weird to me, in any other game Jin would be a shoto who is relatively uncomplicated. But for some reason the "main" character is like one of the most difficult characters to use and consequently I feel like I rarely see him.
@@El-Burrito cause he is rarely used I think in Online he might have the most losses but when used to the highest level he’s basically God lol I like Devilster and there’s this other guy from Saudi that’s really good maybe Sora is his name and Book the ones that I usually watch for a fully Optimal Jin
Not as complicated as Lee but yeah Jin is fun as well as Kazuya
@El Burrito you must have never played VF. Jin ain't SHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIT
@@Jurico_Noes Sadly Book is not a Jin main anymore😢
People sayin’ that ain’t optimal- I’m glad he retorts with “practicing this has been so much fun.” Cuz honest the beginning or getting back into something learning how to get back on your feet is the most fun part. We ain’t goin’ in tournaments and we just beginnin’, let him have fun
Unfortunately hearing "That ain't optimal" is part of the Jin experience cause his combo's go really crazy at high level
True! Do what combos you learn first and enjoy it organically. No need to go "optimal" unless you plan on going pro. As a Jin main I've had so much fun figuring out combos on my own.
Jin is so fun to play. Especially once you've got zen cancel and wavedashing shenanigans down. Plus he's got tools for every situation.
Call me crazy I was that guy who said Zen stance should wiff highs and Mids cause you still need strict timing to pull it off like his boss version in T7
Yup his kit is too good not to play. Don't even need to worry about optimal combos if it's casual or ranked just do his basic bnbs
always thought his lows were bad
@@onetokatman7293 d4 and db4 are really good pokes, his hellsweep is super high reward for super high risk, and his d33 is a good cheeky round ender. his lows are 8/10 easy
@@onetokatman7293 your thought wrong then
As a Jin main seeing this is the most hilarious shit ever
@A . B Shah I am not judging, I do agree with you as there was time when I had to practice doing hellsweep without wavedashing before I could do electrics. What's funny about it is how it reminds us that everyone who is good at something used to be bad at it at some point which goes on to show how someone you'd call a scrub one day could beat the shit out of you with enough practice. Eg: I thought a cousin of mine Tekken fundamentals and the bases of Kazuya and now he plays him better than me
As a Jin main I agree but Jin isn't that hard to master I learned him since Tekken 4
@@ravenapollogaming6895 "he isnt that hard to master i've only been playing him for 12 years"

Watching this guy play Tekken brings a smile to my face! Also, props to the editor! Great job done on this one!
“I feel like I’m playing a battle royale for the first time and in the top 2” is something I felt deep inside

"Nothing is easy with Jin"
- Yes Max, we know. We suffered and we know
Ah yes, it's very hard to F4
@@destructo3457 So difficult people forget Alt+F4
Jin always seems easy to play until you get online and have to work twice as hard as your opponent half the time.
@@joshjones9749 it's hard work pressing that f4 huh
His combo game is pretty simple.
His punishment is easy. He has pretty clear and obvious mixup tools.
Only difficult part is his neutral. And that’s only difficult because he has so many good tools that it’s hard to utilize all of them.
Oh, and his parry. Very complicated.
MAXIMIZING Jin is complicated for sure but just picking him up is not unusually difficult compared to other characters.
MAX LEARNING JIN YESSSS. NEVER THOUGHT I'D SEE THE DAY. WELCOME TO THE TEAM BUDDY.
Max going back to being a Jin main, we need more now.
editing is top notch :3 LOVE IT
Watching Max posting Tekken content again, really puts a smile on my face
Jin is my favorite character in the series so mastering his combos was so difficult 😅
This was so much fun to watch as a fellow Jin Main on an xbox controller GOOD STUFF MAX HAHAIZH
I love the classic Tekken sound effects and yells of the various characters throughout this video. I caught a lot of Tekken 3 stuff, I've played that game so damn much I know everyone's little call outs and yells.
im so happy to see you playing tekken so often, also to be learning this combos within some hours means u have a talent here, most of my friends have more hours than u playing this game but they cant land any hard combo
oh my god I can't believe what I'm seeing. He's finally doing it after all this time and its quite a treat to see.
My GOD. The editing is so good.
What a coincidence. I'm bored last night, so I tried to practice Jin, discovered that his fun, as well as Kazuya. I'm Lee and Bryan main here
I am inspired to be like you when I get back on Tekken 😂 Jin was a character I wanted to learn but gave up for some reason, but I'm thinking about trying again thanks to you. If that doesn't work then I will take my time to learn Law
Wow, I thought you might get into trying Jin again after that amazing reveal... but it was just that, a thought.
As a Tekken fan I really appreciate the time and fun you are having with it, specially since you are more into 2D fighter
Max and TheMainMan, the crossover we need

While I like TMM, Max should also watch Devilster's video. They're short but very informative.

kudos to Brunty023
The editing on this video was pretty good!
I was a Noctis main like you too, and also switched to Jin and have been maining him for a couple months now. The most jarring thing for me at first was the range drop off, Jins range is abysmal for most of his moves but that's fine honestly
Damn nice editing there!
Hope to see some more Jin gameplay!
i was always trash at tekken but watching people play jin is one of my favorite things to watch cause it just looks so nice
9:27 100% this. Big part of Tekken's appeal is the skill ceiling. Especially with Jin since optimization for him goes to crazy ass levels
Good use of sound effects, Max's editor...👍
Im so happy to see you enjoy Jin, he my main and so rewarding and badass to learn
I am a complete Tekken noob so seeing Max practice the character I made the perhaps horribly decision to learn first is something for sure lol
You gonna stick with him? It’s not too late to change.
@@MultiBoxingKid Well I also ended up trying my hand at Lars... and Noctis
@@SeikerHikaru Lars is not nearly as awful as some people make it seem. Plenty viable. Noctis I'd avoid as he won't be in T8.
@@lucastonoli3256 I've definitely had an easier time learning Lars than I did Jin, and definitely plan to stick with him in T8.
Watching Max re-learn Jin in Tekken 7 makes me happy seeing i have a long way to go with Jin
Seeing everyone trying to teach him optimal Jin stuff was truly awesome
Super fun watching Max catch up on my main
Im still learning Jin till this day. Alot of Jin mains that fight me are teaching me different ways of hitting the EWHF but damn, the launcher to the EWHF i can never get off at all! some of the initial stuff i can string together. I was able to do the other Electric fist attack on PS4/PS5 with his square attack but his hook fist im still learning alot. But i will get there. This has been a good learning video and hilarious too lol
The Tekken 2 and 3 sound effects mixed in are hilarious. I still can't do crouch dash inputs on demand, so I definitely couldn't play Mishimas even if I wanted to. It does bother me a little that I've been playing Tekken 7 for five years now and there are only two characters I really know how to play, but this is the first fighting game I truly learned so it's not a huge deal.
Can we just have a series of Max learning one specific character? Because this and his Doctor Strange video are entertaining as hell
thank you!!! some else said it.. its basically dp 1+2.. i get argued to hell and back "its not like dp... " it's the exact same input..
Jin is a very difficult character to learn but so satisfying! Could be said for a lot of characters but he's one of the hardest to learn
For those who don’t know and haven’t played Tekken tag tournament 2 Jin , Jins new Power stance properties from Tekken 8 was originally a borrowed concept that was accessed by a move called Omen stance which mimicked Heihachis stance this was only available if you were paired with a Mishima or Devil Jin !
Once in omen stance jin was briefly able to access Mishima moves ,thunder upper cut, electric god fist and many more this made jin even more of a brutal force to be reckoned with! Im quite happy to see this property return but rather then seeing a heihachi stance they chose to keep power stance for jin which is a good look for character progression in terms of story now that heihachis dead ! 15:13
This looks like so much fun learning a character and getting the combos down, makes me want to reinstall but then I remember how difficult the game actually is to play when you haven't been playing for 10 plus years.
THANK YOU Max. People have been downplaying Jin's ease of use for years. This character, even though he's my main, has me sweating every play session.
I don't nearly have to focus as hard when I'm playing Asuka or Anna. In a real match and to be the most optimal, I have to become one with Tekken as I don't have any easy gimmicks to fall on.
I have been very much enjoying the Tekken 7 content
Took me years to absolute to learn mishimas and jin, wavedashing, electric oh the good old days, now I can do it hella fast like literally I get scared at myself lol 😆, liking the grind Max ✌🏽
The Tekken Tag soundboard censoring, God I love this channel
this is a really entertaining video don’t usually get to attracted to watching a training mode lab
The damn Tekken 3 sound censors just fuckin' send me. Props to the editor/s on this.
some masood type editing going on i love it lol
just a tip from a fellow jin main on stick with electrics. When doing a electric what I found really easy is when you are doing the input f, n, f, df, I would press the 2 as you go from d -> df. The reason is so you're not thinking about hitting the 2 on df, rather as you are hitting on d is better because by the time you hit the df you should be hitting 2 at that moment. Think of it like you're hitting it early because our brain is behind what you think you're hitting at.
I can painfully relate to this, Even though I’ve been playing Tekken since 2016 starting with 3 and I would main Jin and the change in moveset was absolutely jarring. It still is to this day. But the problem is that I SUCK at Tekken.
I have to keep relearning the game and Jin over and over again as not only is he extremely difficult to use/master I don’t find myself playing Tekken like I used to It’s been off and on throughout the years.
God help me When Tekken 8 comes out, Im gonna have to go through that torture again especially if I’m going to be using Jin along with slightly altered moveset. If or when I return to Tekken once again (hopefully in preparation of 8 and not after it.) I am able to use him effectively and continue to improve from then on along with other characters in the game.
Hopefully you have as much fun as Max is relearning his old main.
The fact that hes already doing pretty decent combos at Beginner Jin its amazing, i can see Max maining Jin properly and blasting other players, thats how important its to practice a character before online matches
Played since Tekken 3 and I still dont have a MIshima main. They are so hard to learn and play, but yet they are the most rewarding
I mained Jin in T3, came back to Tekken with 5 and I was so confused by him. But I took the time to learn him with Dark Resurrection and he is fuuuun. Weird but fun.
Aww, hell nah!
Max! Was that you using Jin Kazama?
😲 My face when I saw you lay that combo on Playa using Kazuya at the start. Sh__ was dope, bruh!
Ggs 😆👍
It's pretty great seeing Max use my favorite character 😎😎🔥🔥⚡
THAT LEI SOUND AT THE START XD made laugh super hard
Loved the “Oh shit” moment on the CH f4, just fish with that in neutral and you’ll be off to a good start lol
As a primary Jin user, I both applaud and pity Max
Wow max good job, you're doing my Main justice
FINALLY! Join us Max! Jin welcomes all!
Mishimas are the hardest to learn, but jin is probably the hardest because he has not just wave dashing, but also stance cancelling, parries, and zen mode combos while wave dashing.
3:33 it really does feel that good
The Tekken sound effects for swears are sending me 😂
Law is my favorite, but I use "Jin a lot. Jin is my boy. This is nice 👏🏼
Law is my go to if I want to win but Kaz is my main.
In tekken 7 they finally unlocked all the cool combo potential of Jin's fighting style since T5.
Still tekken 4 Jin is the greatest
Hope to see Max play some online matches with Jin one day :D
Intro was fire 🔥
Cant wait to maybe see max do the BF23 stance 1+2 into rage drive into wall carry I really hope he does it
JIn is super hard to learn, it takes hours of long and hard practice to be able to use him effeciently. Even then you won't be able to use him well against more crazy spammy characters if you don't have experience. Basically time and practice is what gets you there
I am a proud geese player and I’ve played other tekken but tekken 7 is my fav, but geez man these combos look nuts maybe one day I’ll sit down and grind out and get better with somone like Steve I am decent at tekken but I want to get better with tekken characters, and I am the same way max I have trouble on the right side of the screen with some things with specific character geese I am mostly good, but man right side messes me up with others.P.S electrics are freaken hard.
Yep, learn combos in T7 is so satisfying and more when it is wall carry combo 🤤
What's the sound effect every time Max lands an electric wind hook fist with Jin? I want that sound effect
Just want to share something. In almost 20 years i play tekken, for the longest time i was a scrub that would stick to one move and spam it because it works against other scrubs. only around tekken 5 i started to want to understand what was i doing, and just in 6 i started to learn really good combos, but EWGF was still impossible for me (i'm a bryan main, and no, i don't got the hang of taunt jet uppers yet). it only took max hint for me finally land a *intended* electric for the very first time. I sign down with Max, learning a fighting for real its a magical feeling
yupp this is brunty editing with the 'BAMMM' sound
*Welcome back to Chekken Max*
Great to see more Tekken! and also Cool editing in this one
The Tekken effects were CLASSIC. Please add more "Chicken" 😭
I've played Jin in Tekken 3 and even more in Tekken 4 because of the brand new fighting style and look. I know what you are talking about! I'm trying him in Tekken 7.
Been playing Jin since you stopped liking him in T4, but T7 is the 1st time I put a looot of time into playing him. I still suck but Jin is mad fun. Looking crazier in T8 too
The Tekken 3 sounds being used as swear censors has me rolling.
Max is learning my boy jin? nice jin is so fun to play😆
Jins combos are fun but insanely hard to execute
Woudnt say insanely, jin has a lot of mid level combos. He can do the same staple for most launches. Most characters need to learn specific combos for every launch. I think the hard part about jin is his neutral. He has so many good moves its hard to know when to use them all.
lol
@@zachary3879 this^
His combo's get really hard only once you start optimizing him into oblivion. And well 100$ combo and f4 staple are pretty bad too
@@zachary3879 Ya without the double Electrics they are relativly easy for decent damage. As someone who had trouble with crazy execution especialy electrics on a dpad, i tought jin was very easy to learn... very cheese friendly lets say :D easy and save 10f punish, panic moves... mixup strings and very good lows (saldy no full crouch low).
Now Heihachi is what i would say has some of the hardest combos if you wanna use the Omen Upper.... insanely 10 times harder than an electric.
His combos are not unusually hard for this game. If anything they've made them more on the easy end now. His routes are very simple and you can mostly copy and paste them.
Hardest thing he has in combos is canceling f+4 out of zen when it gets blocked. You dont even have to do electrics in his combos and there's almost no timing elements or anything.
Lee, Kazuya, Heihachi, Devil Jin, Steve, Geese, Akuma, Eliza, King, Armor King, Noctis, Bryan, Hwoarang, Nina, Julia, and Law all have stuff about as hard or harder in their big boy staple combos.
killer editing 😂
Learning six years later........same, as of a week ago. 6 years of being homeless and away from all platform gaming has me rusty af, but also hype because everything is new to me. Just started Twitch streaming and am loving the journey so far. Me and my Law will shake off this six years of rust and rise again🔥💯✊🏿
Good luck mans!
That's why I love Asuka she has so many inter changeable combos.... Which are mostly easy to learn and master.
It seems monthly now that I get wiggity washed by an excellent Jin, and i get the urge to try to learn him, seeing all the cool shit he can do, and then getting crushed by the realization that I would have to drop every other character to have enough time to play him optimally
Worth
max learned way more than what he needed to meaningfully play the character, also a bunch of relatively difficult yet suboptimal combos. and he did it in 2 hrs. it took me my first week in tekken to learn about as much. sure it's difficult but like, figuring all of it out is like the end of the game so to speak, it's not the beginning, it would be lame if you could land all these any faster.
I have the same problem but with Bob, I like to start on the left side of the stage because it just feels more natural, and it's not just Tekken if I'm playing any fighting game I always was want to start left
i should probably join stream to give information like this but if you press 2 at the timing that you would press down in your crouch dash input the electric's will come out more consistently because the button press of 2 will come out on the next frame, the down forward, which will give the electric animation. If you get down jab as a miss input then you are not crouch dashing smooth enough.
Finally you are dropping the easy mode
Yes!!! Max learning a Mishima. Lets go!!!
Nice Max 😊
Kind of off topic, but Black Myth: Wukong looks really incredible
The rare ocasion of the main character in a game being one of hardest characters to play as (also counting Kazuya).
I'd argue Jin is harder to get competent with than Kazuya. Both have high ceiling though.
