- Named and Shamed...Finally i remove a certain shower that has been a pain for around 3 years, and i name and shame the company for what happened a few years ago.
When you buy a plumbing product you want it to do what it should and the back up from the company needs to be in line with what they say on the box.
Its been replaced with a Triton Amore Electric shower and its a proven unit with superb back up

3 years later and still this shower is giving me grief…… but not anymore 👍🏼
Do what I did and buy an aqua Lisa bit dearer but the old saying you get what you pay for , it’s a far superior product .
Hi Mark, you know I’m already aware of this saga, we sacked Bristan I think I told you, we will not use or install their showers, taps or any product they are associated with. It is sad they will not stand by their product or advertised guarantee, but they need us more than we need them. I hope they are at the installer show this year so we can tell them the reason we will not touch their products. I’m sad to hear you have had this problem but I’m confident the new Triton shower will be successful and reliable for you and the customer. Have a great week and as always take care, regards Chris. 👍👍👍
Yep I remeber speaking to you at the time when I did this originally…👍🏼👍🏼
Triton shower are built like tanks! Last for ages and good quality! That was the shower I swapped mine for! Sometimes simple style is better.
Triton is the one for me
@MJTiffPlumbing when I moved in my house there was a triton I reckon from the 70s or 80s. Lasted another 7 or 8 years before it finally gave up! These are tanks they are built yo last which....not many appliances do that now
Same here mate I don’t repair showers ! Someone ask me to repair a 1987 electric shower last week just started leaking amazing bit of kit, Dolphin model as I recall, it was massive. Broke his heart the tight arse 😂
Repair a 80’s shower….. brilliant🤣
Can't go wrong with a Triton! Nice vid Mark👊🏾
100% Chiggs 👍🏼👍🏼
Yes I remember the original fit of this shower. Bristan are bang out of order saying 2 year warranty on the box, but I dare say that in the paperwork inside the box, in small print it will say 2nd year warranty parts only and that covers their backside. Some nice bikes in the background Mark. Are you planning to ride the next Tour de France? 😂 Great video as always Mark and I look forward to the next one 🙂👍
Yep it does say that in the booklet… all they had to do was put an astrix * on the badge but they didn’t..
As for my bikes, I was very heavily into road cycling a few years back
I've had a couple of issues with Bristan, one was a combined bath filler and waste, piped it up and tested, happy days but could I fit the facia and control without a sledge hammer, not a chance, called them and they were not interested, took it back to the supplier and their faces as they were trying to fit what was impossible was priceless, swapped it out for a Crosswater and all was well in the world. I won't use them again as I was late for the pub on a Friday evening......
Thanks Mark, Top Man!
Always an issue with them mate…… 👍🏼👍🏼
Yes bin them and fit new
One happy customer and equally happy plumber
Hope that's in a skip now
Looking forward to more "jobs revisited" lol
It’s well and truly skipped mate
I had this unit aswell! Absolutely pain in the arse. Great when they work.... but when they breakdown they are full of rubbish! So new unit later....no issue since I had a general one! Bristan are pants!
Yep not great at all
Hi Mark. Yes I would be upset too. That’s a crap warranty. Sounds like they don’t trust their own product. I have fitted triton in my house. I am not a plumber. Easy to install. Have fitted them in my house and friends. Had no problems. Have a good week mate 👍
Thanks mate…. Yep the warranty isn’t great at all as advertised
Hi Mark, another great video. Bristan is out of order, they are just playing with words, I believe a couple of washing manufactures use the same tactics.
But naughty isn’t it
We can't have electric showers in Canada. Got used to them cheap showerhead ones in Ecuador, slight tingle sometimes hence why i called them the Ecuadorian electric chair.😂
Flat i rented had been converted to on demand propane but had a 120v 30amp breaker screwed to the wall under the showerhead. Decommissioned thank god.
Yep I know what you mean
Since you're first video I only use aqua Lisa shower's great British company with excellent warranty
Good to hear mate
Triton are not too bad, I stick with Aqualisa for shower valves or Grohe if on an offer for basin and bath taps. Fitted a kitchen mixer in my own kitchen. Deva make 12 year warranty no issues and very good quality, heavy solid brass and great fittings included.
Yer I’ve fitted a few Deva taps and they are spot on
Had a Mira 8.5KW shower which ran for well over three years before we had central heating and a new shower system installed. .
They are pretty good👍🏼👍🏼
Great video!
Hoping that the bathroom isn’t cursed, which would mean the Triton going the same way as the Bristan 😱
IF it did…. I know 100% Triton will stand by there advertised warranty 👍🏼👍🏼
I remember your original video on this, can't believe it was 3 years ago.
Times flys mate
My mates a retired gas fitter,he always recommended Heatra Sadia or Redring, thats all i have used in the last 35 plus years,
You don’t see showers from them much anymore tbh
Old screw holes rub a bar of soap over it until level and job done. Great videos keep them going.
Like that tip mate
What I've done in the past is, box up the item and send it to the CEO at head office, the trick is, make it look like a gift, but once opened it wipes the smile off their face, on one occasion a guy drove 240 miles with a replacement and refund, also a gift card for £50, as a rule the boss never knows how bad his company is when employees are frightened to tell him the truth. 👍
Like that mate 👌🏼👌🏼
It’s the law if it’s not fit for purpose. That’s why we have Trading Standards at your local council. Have used it several times over the years. Suppliers don’t like it but it’s tough.
👍🏼👍🏼
just replaced my Triton Ivory (16 years old) for another Triton i.e T80Z as there less faff to fit over other brands looking at install pdfs, even the mira there is just more room in a Triton, i looked at Bristan kitchen taps and they have jumped massive in price since i last looked there well over 150 quid so i went Deva and there a Local company to me, also Watch out for the Limited warranty its a get out clause, just like the Deva 12 year warranty
I know all about there warranty mate…. Trust me
Thanks, Mark, for the update. I've fitted a few electric showers, and apart from a couple of Mira ones, Triton is one that comes to mind when I'm recommending. The Mira ones were customer bought, and I've never had an issue with them nor Triton, only Triton has a vast range to choose from.
As for Bristan, well, the fact that they don't seem to be doing electric showers anymore smells a bit to me, as if they knew their market was faltering, especially when they're coming with the poor statement explaining about the warranty. Should be clearly written in the instructions and on the box that the first 12 months are free in the event of a breakdown, thereafter in the 2nd year of the warranty, any breakdowns are parts free, only labour is charged at £80.
Thing is, also, brand new, and it went kaput in 18 months, that's not good, and I think Bristan knew this. Any plumber looking to replace an electric shower, hearing about this kind of warranty, should advise on another name. I'm a customer, and there's a potential for my electric shower to go in 18months, and I'M getting charge for its repair???
If it's even to have a bucket and water can, would be better than having a shower with such a warranty.
Completely right with all that mate
Small point! I go to many houses where the electric shower is not working and the first thing I ask is 'Do you operate the shower using the emergency pull switch' Many do so I tell them ONLY to switch it on AND off using the shower controls as using the pull switch stops the cooling over run and will result in the pull switch being burned out
Yeah, but that little red light on the switch thingymajig uses power. - my missus.
Me -
🙄
Do people really use the cord to turn it off🤣🤣
Some people just don't listen. Even when you go out of your way to try and explain things in words of one syl a ble...
..eyes glaze over. Sad, really. 😥
Yes many do which causes the problems I mentioned. Every electric shower I install I tell them very firmly NOT to use the pull cord. Whether they take any notice will never know unless I'm fitting another!!
You need to have a chat with my missus. I tell about econ settings on the boiler and at what number to set the TRV's. She doesn't listen to me. "stop touching that boiler" I'll remember that when she asks me to fix it or just top up the pressure.@@richardlewis5316
I do understand what your saying about guarantees but I have to say as someone who looks after over 43 properties in the private rental sector I must have fitted 15 Bristan Cheer showers and not one has gone wrong, just to put some context to the conversation,
As they say the guarantee is not worth the paper it’s written on.
Lee.
The fact they said 2 years and it wasn’t was my issue…… and they way they didn’t want to have a proper conversation about it at all. The fact they now no longer sell electric showers speaks volumes.
Also the first one went wrong after 14months and now this one just 2 years later…..
You must have got the good batch as not many people at all rate Bristan electric showers.
Great job I love your Chanel
Is it a good idea leaving the old shower head
Because in Ireland Triton will not stand over there shower if you use a non Triton shower head
He had the new head just not the riser 👍🏼👍🏼
I thought you left the old head for a spare one on the shower tray...
Keep up the great work.
Your chanel is amazing
Thanks for that, Mark. Bristan didn't exactly cover themselves in glory there. They covered themselves in something ... but it don't smell like glory! Shame really, as I've not had a problem with their taps but something like this takes the shine off the whole brand. That's probably why they dropped the electric shower range: whatever they were making off them wasn't worth the reputational kick in the balls.
Was shocked to see that they have now ditched electric showers completely tbh
What a nightmare, not the best when you fit a product and the aftercare is poor, least it’s sorted and behind you now mate…Triton all the way, easy to fit, used them since I started 🙌👍
You know mate 👍🏼👍🏼
Hi Mark. I think the response from Bristan was a bit of a DHC. I know you hate DHCs.
That Triton looks like a good bit of kit and historically Triton are long servering/lasting showers. My parents had one that lasted about 15 years.
Indeed it was a DHC 👍🏼🤣
Similar experience with aqualisa. They sent us out a faulty digital shower box (tank to combi conversion)and then said we'd have to pay for an engineers call to check if ir was faulty. Then they decided they didn't actually have any engineers and its impossible that the pump could be faulty anyway because they made it.... and we will have to buy another one and semd the old one back to be tested.....all while the customer held onto 2.5g for a boiler swap. Took ages for them to agree to send a replacement which proved the original was faulty. Cnts.
👍🏼👍🏼
Doesn’t surprise me I’ve had major problem with bristan they refused to change faulty product and it’s all made in china ( I think ) I avoid their products big time, but I’m retired plumber now ,
Evening Mark 🤘😎🤘🫖☕️
Evening Wayne…. Hope your Sunday is going well
Just taken one ,had that same one fitted two temp controls units as it kept running cold immediately parts I got from the shower Doctor and then fitted the one in white and after time that’s was not running very well, but as I’m doing a walk in shower due Ill health I am fitting a digital shower, cold water supply only which I’m still waiting for a video on😂 😂 great video showing them up because when you looking at the box it’s clear you see 2 years warranty it may be in there small print that’s it’s spilts into two.😞🤬👎🏿
Triton Envi is what you want mate😉😉
@@MJTiffPlumbing MJ you’ve got a memory like a sieve. I’ve already got the Triton digital I waited till they brought them out, and I’ve had four up to now the fourth, one being the correct one, but you were meant to be doing a video on fitting one, but still waiting to see it👍👍👍👍
I fitted Stuart and turner shower mate ….shower pump. It’s there entry level pump…two year warranty. Went wrong within warranty….they sent the client a new pump but I had to swap it for nothing
👍🏼👍🏼
Mark did you also have trouble with a Bristan kitchen sink mixer tap? It was a poor design and it could snap off in your hand and leave water spraying out all over the kitchen.
The easy fit ones were imho very dangerous
I have an electric shower that I have replaced twice now (not a Bristan) nevertheless can't wait to get one that runs off the boiler as there always seems too many things that can break.
Yep Mixer thermostat is always the best option I think
@@MJTiffPlumbing yeh, my second one has been like Triggers broom it's had 2 new PRVs, a new head a new hose 🤣
Hahahah👍🏼
I would only ever fit an electric shower if there was no other option or the customer insisted that is what they want, they are absolutely useless and I would never fit one through choice, I don’t understand why someone would go to the expense of fully tiling a room to install a disgusting looking box on the wall
Some of the new ones look pretty good tbh
I have fitted Bristan showers in the past not a fan always recommend Triton to my customers as they have a good guarantee and service if anything goes wrong
Yep exactly this mate
I notice a lot of electric showers don’t seems to last anymore. I have big issues with the button always sticking on Triton T80z.
But the shower itself still works??
@@MJTiffPlumbing yeah, if I fit 10 T80z 6 of them the on/off button sticks and won’t turn off. Tried everything!!
@@paulgardner3926 Paul go on the Screwfix reviews and read my 1 star review and how to fix the on/off button issue. Triton have had a huge batch go out with this issue.
Same here . Try and loosen the screws and jam a spacer in behind . Seems as if it's an uneven tiled wall it will happen .
Just don’t replace it with a Bristan 🤣
Sounds Like Trading Standards would be interested in Bristons Warranty
Who knows
triton not great either, there ok but after issues with them also I've went to Mira as entry level shower now for electric shower customers, triton have always came out and sorted it but was happening to often.
We all stick to what we prefer 👍🏼👍🏼
Every time a customer asks me to install an electric shower, the first question I ask is how ofter do you replace your electric kettle, as this is how often you will be replacing an electric shower. I personally would only fit one for emergency use , i.e., if you have a combi boiler that breaks down, then at least you can still have a piss poor shower to use.
👍🏼👍🏼
Could anyone help please electric shower very low water power, pressure and advice please
they have a filter sometimes that block on inlet, or could be a failed diverter valve
Could be blocked… what’s the main like?
A number of manufacturers have misleading guarantees - pity - as the customer loses and affect the reputation of what should have been a good product with supporting customer care. Have you ever installed Aqata?
So it would seem…. I think it’s so bad
Had the same issue with a UK shower enclosure manufacturer - life time warranty - never honoured! Exactly went through your journey, now in the process of changing the entire unit!
I’ll never buy bristan again ! Awful service engineers
Completely agree
By the time you have paid there repair charge and may be the new parts .might as well buy a new shower 😯
Indeed mate
At least bristan got back to you, unlike unilite with my rubbish light
Have you messaged them in a respectful manner……???
You’ve been moaning about this for months now on posts of mine….. if you connect them they WILL get back to you
@@MJTiffPlumbing I messaged you once, just over a week ago, and yes I did message them respectfully on there feedback email they sent, but did not reply. If you check, I messaged you once, on Friday 9th of March. I messaged you as I bought it on your endorsement of unilite
I have triton five year and no bother
👍🏼👍🏼
Yeah, Bristan stuff is pants. Their mixers are not up to much either, fitted one for a lady a few years ago and the bloody thing kept pulsing hot fresh out of the box - crappy quality and I avoid it like the plague these days.....
👍🏼👍🏼
Sales of goods act. 7 years guarantee with the supplier not the manufacturer.
7 years is a bit strong🤣
I presume you done a Zs reading on the electrics and RCD test as you’re now responsible for that installation….
You should never presume anything mate
@@MJTiffPlumbing well if you didn’t… you should have mate
Well if you didn’t …..you should have mate
@@MJTiffPlumbing if you didn’t …..then you should have mate
@@MJTiffPlumbing always get the electrics tested when replacing an electric shower……mate
Having issues with the bar showers, not getting warm enough..getting pissed off with them. Quality has gone down hill
Yep I always have to rest them to get the heat into them
The taps ain’t much better 😂
Yep…… easi-fit ones are a huge insurance claim waiting to happen
I remember you had a nice factory tour with Triton 😂😂
Indeed I did, not sure why that’s so funny though??….. and I also work with them developing the new Envi…….
And they stand by there advertised warranties 👌🏼
Triton are shitte
bristan company are on the race to the bottom but mira are the best in my opinion, triton will charge £80 to come out if its not the shower problem you will get charged but i said if its is the shower can i charge you £80 for my call out it work both ways but it was a big no from them
Bristan certainly are mate
Bye bye Bristan 😁 Misleading warranties and poor customer support.
So glad it’s in the bin finally
In this world of 30p/kwh, combi's, pressurised systems and boost pumps why are people still installing electric showers?
Because they have no gas only electric…… 👍🏼
Triton only last about two years Mira are the best mate
We will see👍🏼
I always thought Bristan stuff was junk and seems the customer service is junk aswell!
Indeed it is
Were is the old video Mark??
I’ve added the footage to this video
@@MJTiffPlumbing Thanks Mark
👍🏼👍🏼
They're an appalling company but what makes this whole situation worse yes they don't make them anymore but so many places are still selling them like how can u still sell one
Very true
Wanted to add that when you're selecting a shower, and you pick up or look on the box, and it says 2 yr warranty, the reasonable understanding is you are covered in the event of breakdown for 2 years, which you are. It's not stipulating what kind of cover you will get, and in not doing so, you've made up your mind, 2 yr cover, fantastic, gone and paid for it.
Yes, the likelihood is you can return it, when you find out about the cover, but in saying so from the outset, ie on the cover of the box, you can clearly then make up your mind whether to purchase or not. Astute. Not clever for business, I would imagine.
Exactly that Joseph👍🏼
I just hate electric showers, pain in the butt when they fail.
At least they are quick to replace
Love the videos by the way… real world plumbing!
Where’s MJ Tiff gone, be very careful who you shit on on the up because on the down you may meet them. My unilite fell apart but my Luceco site light is going fine but I’m not going to make a song and dance about it,
What you on about pal…… “be very careful who you shit on” and “you may meet them”…….
Not shitting on anyone mate….. stating FACTS…
I’m still the same guy who made the original video about this 2years ago….. so “where’s MJ Tiff gone”…… I’m still here, just the same
As for your light….. did you contact them as they will replace them straight away….. most people who moan don’t contact them they just make a song and dance about it😉
token e-mail love your channel
Thanks mate…… yep just copy and paste I guess
Poor products and not cheap.
I agree mate
Forget warranties....use your rights under Consumer Protection 2015 legislation. Oh sorry, you're not a consumer.
This is just clear miss selling on the front of the box….
Bristan showers are terrible full stop they dont last five mins and there taps arnt much better
Yep👍🏼
Your videos have gone downhill mark. What ever happened to everyday plumbing. You used to be old school plumbing but now it's all press fit. What about the DIY 'er?
If they have gone downhill for you mate then feel free to stop watching them.
It’s not all press fit…. I did a whole video 2 weeks ago soldering🙄….
Ive run into problems in the past with bristan. Namely their sink & bath taps. They didnt cover themselves in glory when I dealt with them then either.
Not great are they
