Phil Keaggy is one of the most versatile players you will ever find. He plays almost any genre like a master. Rock, Acoustic, New Age, Country, Even Swing Jazz and Flamenco. He is best known however as a Christian Artist. Also notice he is missing half the middle finger on his right hand due to a childhood accident.

Check out the impromptu jams that Phil Keaggy did with two other musical giants. The amazing wizard of the bass, none other than Tony Levin and studio giant drummer Jerry Marotta. I think there are about 4 or 5 videos of this performance. Not for everyone as it is 3 musicians that just met and decided to jam. The music that they created on the fly has a very searching quality to it. Cheers.

I have been following Keaggy since 1970 when I saw hi with his band Glass Harp at a friend's high school in Ohio. We are from the same area of Ohio as well.. The acoustic he is playing is made by Olson. Phil got to deliver an Olson to Paul McCartney several years ago as Phil was playing at a wedding Paul was going to be attending. Phil's vocals are heavily influenced by McCartney as he is also a huge Beatles fan. Very humble and gracious guy and approachable too. The capos..... One of them is also notched on a couple strings. The other capo is a partial which only covers 3 strings. I could go on and on about Phil but I think this covers some basics for you.

He has performed a variety of styles over a 50+ year 'career/ministry' including vocal albums & instrumental albums both electric using Les Paul, Yamaha, Zion etc & acoustic on his Olsen & other makes. Lots to hear of is.
Oh & as I'm sure others pointed out, he only has 4 fingers on his right hand due to a childhood accident. In the concert he makes a joke of it saying "Hey, everyone give me a high four-and-a-half!"

well, id say "good" is not even close, subjective or not. Hes a great guitarist. period. There are few, if any, who have the enormous scope and can sing like Phil does. He is a one of a kind musician. Not the best, because no one is the best of course, but by his sheer ability to cross styles with ease, certainly somewhere in a small elite of musicians who care not so much for success, but for satisfaction, quality and creativity. God bless Phil and all like him.
