I’ve been off roading Ocala NF. for 30 yrs. as well as the rest of Florida and other states. My 2010 Taco has never had an issue with 4 x 4 high or low nor did my 1998 Taco. 2010 manual says you must put at least 10 miles a month on the 4 x 4 to keep it lubed. Hearing about these problems with the 4 x 4 makes me leery of buying a new one.

As far as I know you need a permit to use the chain saw. I'm sure it would be ok to use it to clear a road.

Yeah your transfer case isn't lining up you need to put it in neutral and then reverse and then drive and then try it again

Maybe the technology changed a bit but I have a second gen and the instructions on the visor says to put in neutral before switching to 4×4. I've had issues that it wouldn't engage but I just simply put it back in gear, move the wheels a bit then it always works on the second try.
