We're back with more Audioslave this week! I've really been enjoying hearing more from this band and Chris Cornell. I feel like every song I listen to I say is almost a new favorite by each band of his.. They're all so good! But this one came with some questions...

Chris Cornell wasn't a Rockstar. He was THE Rockstar. ❤

One of the greatest choruses in rock to me, with Chris belting the whole thing like high thunder.

I'll be listening to Cochise today! :) Hopefully it doesn't get blocked 😕 but if so, it'll be up sometime this week probably 🤞🏻

A great, interesting song. Per Wikipedia, Chris achieved the unusual effect by repeatedly striking his throat with the side of his hand while changing pitch. Apparently Chris tweeted in 2009 that the lyrics were "nail in my head." Glad you're continuing down the Chris Cornell path, Nikki! 🙌

The whole song is a play on Frankenstein. Chris felt as though he was flung into the world and is questioning his creator as to what it’s all for.

@@BrockNelson yes a fascinating and complex song. Just listened to Linkin Park's album Hybrid Theory for first time, know Chris and Chester were friends, I'm hoping to explore their friendship some more.

This music vid reminds me of the GnR trilogy of music vids, each was a lot more than just a simple music video.
I like how you go in deep with the analysis after watching the video, specially if it is an Audioslave song on anything regarding Chris Cornell

I am also interested in the meaning to this song. What I get out of it is that Chris is asking his creator to show him how to live since he gave him life. How do I live this life? Just a guess. Great song great cover ❤

Also recalled hearing about Chris being conflicted about being religious and found this For much of his life, Chris Cornell was a fallen-away Catholic. Much of his early music, as with that of many other grunge artists, reflects the complicated relationship between grunge and religion, as well as between himself and religion. Also found this thought it was interesting The lyrics, delivered with Chris Cornell's intense vocal prowess, express a profound sense of yearning for direction and understanding of one's purpose.

I really enjoyed this, I did like Chris Cornell but mostly in his solo stuff, I hadn’t heard this before so it was a pleasant surprise!
Great video, I love car chases and in a Dodge Challenger, they were actually scenes taken from the movie Vanishing point, it was dope, pity we didn’t get a bit of the V8 roar as well 😂
Enjoyed your analysis too, makes it really interesting!
I think his song is about addiction. Chris Cornell had struggled his entire life with these demons as so many do. He had found aa meetings and began to regularly attend. "Show me how to live" is an Alcoholics Anonymous saying and part of the 3rd step prayer. "God take my will and my life, guide me in my recovery and show me how to live" Unfortunately Chris was one of the many whose disease had progressed to the point where it caused him to take his own life. 😢

    • @rosewishes2232

When did he say he would attend aa meetings?

    • @DarrellW_UK
      @DarrellW_UK Před měsícem

@@rosewishes2232 this is a quote from Wikipedia from Tom Morello - Cornell's battle with addiction to prescription drugs and alcoholism was a defining factor in the writing and recording process. Even though the singer admitted that he was "never able to write effectively" while drinking, and attended rehab after recording the debut album, Morello stated that Revelations was "the first record [Cornell] didn't smoke, drink, or take drugs through the recording."

I hope you plan on listening to some Soundgarden at some point it's Hard rock/metal sounding but it sounds completly different from both temple of the dog and audioslave ... i'd recommend Limo Wreck, Outshined, The Day i tried to live, Slaves and bulldozers, Beyond the wheel (especially the live version) , Fell on black days, Black Hole Sun, New Damage, Loud Love ect ect

Song could be about several things but the ending notes are definitely him lightly throat chopping himself.
Lolli Wren (The Fairy Voice Mother on CZcams) has a new song coming out on the 8th called Build A Sea. From what she has said about it it'll be a good one. Plus the fact that everything she does is. If she could be in the poll or something that would be awesome.

I wouldn't think that the song necessarily has anything to do with spirituality. I'm not sure what Chris Cornell's interpretation of the song would be, but I will share my interpretation if that's ok.
So with regard to the word "hand" or "head" it could be either, but I think the purpose of the song still remains, regardless. It seems like it has to do with the creation of a being that has a lot going on in it's head. In my opinion, it revolves around someone going through a lot in their life. In a way, we are all "Frankenstein." 🙂
I like how lyrics from artists like Chris Cornell or Kurt Cobain tend to sound differently, but yet still focus on the same meaning of the song.
For example, in Nirvana's song "All Apologies" Kurt uses the lyrics "All in all is all we are" but if you listen closely it sounds a lot like "All alone is all we are." Yet even when using lyrics that sound the same, the song still feels as though it has the same meaning. He mentions being "married" in that song but he also mentions "buried" right after. It kind of gives somewhat of a meaning to feeling alone.
