  • Today we are working on my 2006 acura rsx which had a leak right at the power steering line. We ordered the line off of rockauto.com for the cheapest online price found and within a few days received the part ! Hope this step by step video helps you have an idea about how to do it yourself and a general idea on how to do this on other vehicles as well! Although my car is an ‘06 , the process is the same if not very very similar on the previous years and other acura/ Hondas

    Thanks for the video! The camera work showing the ps line bracket locations was great and you have saved me so much headache knowing that I have to remove the heater valve line.

      Update: I have an 04 base manual and the Suns hose did not fit into the pump. Then I tried a $100 hose from O'Reilly, but it also did not fit. I eventually coughed up the $300 for an OEM through Honda. Works like a charm now. Thanks again for the DIY video!

  • @RichardJenkinsFxCreations

    Now I bought an aftermarket power steering hose and it didn't fit because it was hitting on my valve cover. This looks like the same one but you are not showing the connection at the pump so I cant be sure. Thats where im having issues.

    Just bought an '05 acura rsx-s. It's doing the whining sound in the morning on a cold start. I bought two o-rings from the dealership today for $2.99 each. One is black and the other is orange. The guy in parts told me the black one goes on the top and the orange is for the lower. Air is getting into my line and making this sound. It doesn't happen every day, and some days are worse than others or not at all. I have also read and viewed where the orange o-ring can turn black when it's worn out. How do I know when I undo the top bolt(s) that the gasket wasn't originally orange. Just not sure because on some Honda/Acura videos that weren't an rsx it showed replacing the top with the orange gasket or o-ring. Hope I haven't confused you totally. Thanks for any help.

    Hello SP tuning! I recently bought a 2005 (99 tho miles) RSX from a buddy of mine. after a month of owning it, I noticed I had a power steering leak. I took it to the dealership (Honda) and the said I needed a new return hose and power steering pump. is all that necessary? the hose yes but the pump as well? when I turn the wheel it makes a funny noise. please let me kno what you think.

    • @SPTuning
      @SPTuning  Před 6 lety +2

      The honda dealership recommends the pump replacement because of the other parts for reassurance. Think of the ppower steering pump as an engine. It needs oil to keep it healthy and the power steering hose is like the oil pump. Once u lack oil in the pump , the internals can start to wear and have metal on metal parts. If i were you id try to change the hose first and flush all the old fluid out and replace it with oem fluids. If the noise persists after that, then u should change the pump. In most cases you can get away with sticking wih the original pump though :) hope that this helped. Also another good thingg to do is replace the 2 o rings on the power steering pump. Fairly easy and cheap to do !

    • @SPTuning

      Ema Crz its different for type s and base model. Years vary. Buy the one specific to your chassis an year :)

  • @chancellor170
    @chancellor170 Před 2 lety +5

    You left out the worse part, there's no way to get a socket on that bracket by the firewall without cutting down that stud right next to it. At least on the type S model.

      @chancellor170 Před 2 lety

      @@frankshimada3990 Yeah, Mine was a little worn but I used a small 10mm wrench and broke it lose tapping with a small sledge hammer and ALOT of penetrant. 1/4 inch drive socket wouldn't fit and no leverage anyway. Just finished my hose today.

  • @zigwil153
    @zigwil153 Před 3 lety

    The edits are for the moments of cursing, frustration due to difficulties... you see it in all sorts of DIY videos... that mess behind the engine had to be one of those moments... oh, as you are introducing air in the system doing this job and will need to bleed after, it's a good time to drain the system... fill with OEM or fluid specifically for acura/honda.... not all fluids are the same.

    The power steering hose from rock auto was faulty and the dimensions were off not worth buying it

  • @apofis231
    @apofis231 Před 3 lety

    The sunsong PS hose fucking sucks. Half of them are faulty with incorrect dimensions. On mine, the high pressure end won't even thread all the way in

    • @chancellor170
      @chancellor170 Před 2 lety

      Mine didn't either, just thread it in until the flange is tight. I checked for leaks and it's not leaking.

      Yeah mine won't even tighten. It starts to tighten then loosens every time. Pure garbage.
