    Back in the day my Wife bought a new 1989 Saab 900 which was a base model vs. the 900S which was (I think) $1K more. The only difference was a Sunroof and a few minor things. She opted for the base because of the $$ savings. As we drove it for the next ten years it never made a difference and we were glad we saved the money which financed, would've really been at least $2K. Point is you're driving a BMW and that should be good enough. Good video..!

    Great video. I'm glad you chose the 330i because I think it's the best buy. Economical when you're not in a hurry, and fast when you demand it from him. The equipment is more than satisfactory.
    Here in Europe, the story is a little different. There is a lot of extra charge for such a level of equipment that you get as standard. All the best from Serbia.

I just can't get used to those fully-digital cockpits! Am coming off of two successive (manual!) Audi A4s and am "jumping ship" to this BMW next week. Kind of bittersweet but none of the German manufacturers import manual transmissions in Canada/US anymore so figure this would be the time to try something new.

    I just got a new 330i as a loaner from my dealer. Nice car. As an initial reaction, my only "gripe" is the steering wheel. With better tires on it, would be even better. Perfect balance or ride and handling for a daily.

    E92 M3 zcp and F30 335i M owner here, I took this car as a loaner today and I was disappointed that I got a 330i base model and not a m340i. But I will say that I am impressed with this vehicle! For the first time I can say the luxury car doesn't look bad at all. It looks sporty. Overall they did a great job outside but the grilles are a little too big. I will still recommend the M sport because I personally like cars that hold their value better and obviously look sportier and not base model.
    Going to the inside, the seats are comfy, the quality in materials all over from seats to the soft touch dash boards feel very stiff and high quality. Nothing feels like the typical american/japanese fake hollow leather hard dash. The trims look very good and feel in place. The buttons feel good and they are stiffer compared to the last gens. Compared to the better M340i, the gauge cluster looks basic-futuristic, it's not bad. I like the gas and temperature gauge ideas but they aren't very precise. I would rather have a needle. The sport mode shift lights are cool. As you rev up the the red line, the green lights start from edges of the cluster and start lighting closer into the inside until it highlights red. I prefer the M340i as it looks cooler. It looks modern high tech, it is all screen gauge cluster.
    I do agree that the iDrive system on older models are better. This is because the menu on the older iDrive system was like a simple menu of what you want. This one how ever, the menu is like little app icons to the left. but most of the screen is taken up by app previews which can make it hard tp navigate since every little window isn't just going from left to right, its going left to right and sometimes one on top of the other. Luckily their is touch screen enabled on the screen, but it doesn't matter because it is still confusing to anyone entering BMW vehicles with this version of iDrive. Worse, it takes away from what iDrive is about, simplicity, speed, responsiveness, and quicker to use for the average driver. Because of this, it can be quite dangerous when being used on the road. I think this is why we have driver assistance in these vehicles, because they may have the idea that people will use this confusing system on the road. I also notice when I turn the knob fast I notice frame rate issues but it doesn't fail to get it where you want it. It's in no way bad, it just takes time for anyone to learn the system, once you learn it, it's easy to use. F30 and LCI E90 iDrive system was easiest to use and the best in the automotive market next to Audi's operating system.
    Driving dynamics is very good in this car. The car is quick, the car is fast for what it is. The car feels good from accelerating to even taking turns. This car is very comfortable when you want it to be. This car is just fun to drive. I love it.
    Would I buy this car? Would I recommend it? Well no. It's not worth the 41k starting price tag. It's base model, do yourself a favor and get yourself an M sport if you really want one. The car is like 7k over priced for what it is. The M340i, well that seems to be over priced as well. For the price, you can get better cars. There are other options like BMW E9x's F3x's F8xs F10's E60's , Audi B8, C7, and other models, Mercedes W204, and other models.

    Great video. I love the analog hybrid gauges too, absolutely more refined than the full digital (think Honda civic). Only thing that I’m not loving is the 8.8” center info display. how did you find interacting with it? would you still recommend it a year later? 10” has really become the standard (competitors incl. genesis and Audi have upgraded). I wonder if BMW will too.

    On a serious note though, I was considering a G20 as a daily to give my M4 a rest during the week. But after test driving an F30 340i and G20 3 series back to back, the F30 feels soooo much more nimble and is available with a manual!

    Thank you for doing this review! I used to have a Jaguar XE, and "upgraded" to this 330i base model with a few additional options - month 5 with it, and absolutely love it so far. Much better car than the Jaguar.

    • @RandomDGuy21
      @RandomDGuy21 Před 2 lety

      @@eddier401 I absolutely loved the XE; mostly for the steering feel. It was more *fun* to drive aggressively because it had a lot of feedback. But the cabin feel and overall quality was lacking, in my opinion. The infotainment was slow, bluetooth would constantly cut out, and it had lots of squeaks and rattles even only a couple years in. But man it drove great.
      The 330i is an overall better car. I've had it for 2 years now, and it's a solid vehicle. Everything works and feels well built. It had additional niceties that Jag didn't even offer, and BMW just does the everyday stuff so well. It sounds better, it's faster, and it has AWD for winter. But the one thing it cannot compete with Jag on is steering feel. It's completely numb. So numb that I can't feel my front tires slipping in the winter months until I can visually notice the car sliding. With the Jag, I always felt in control because I could always feel the road. The Jag had RWD, and I felt more confident in the snow with it because you felt so connected to the car.
