Yes, it's well made, but it shows the typical problem with 99% of all horror shorts. They come up with an idea, but they don't know what to do with it. That's why horror shorts typically just plummets in the end, often with "just end it with a jump scare." I can understand the process of being creative and wanting to create something, whatever, now!, but the result is rarely complete or finished and in cases of horror shorts - not scary.
Me too friend!đ€
It looked like some of that might gave been pixelated motion, which would explain some of the unnatural feel.

While I agree the ending could have been different...it was a well executed, creepy, heart pounding short. Absolutely fantastic.
Just the idea of having a doppelgÀnger that can control or even take your place is scarier than a jumpscare (but this one was really cheap lol)
@@ellaelliott4415 âŰłÙÙ
this is excellent! humor, mixed with weird, mixed with horror. those criticizing the ending are being overly critical. the editing, pacing, special effects and even the acting were all top notch. and all done in under 4 minutes. quite impressive.
It's not overly critical to say "This is really great but the ending is disappointing"
@@starman1294why do you find it disappointing?
Honestly, I was creeped out until the old standby "Big eyes, slowly inhumanly widening mouth" thing came around. Genuinely, at this late stage in the game, a simple cruel smirk would have been more rewarding.
Booger Jones yes
Agree
Totally agree
Hm, exactly my thoughts!
Booger Jones But then youâd have someone talking about the old trope of not revealing anything, that the filmmaker lacked creativity to come up with anything, blah, blah, blah. Everyoneâs a friggin critic đ. I say go make your own film and do it your way...then let us watch and critique it. đ đđŒ
OKAY, this is my review:
I actually love this film when I first saw it. The concept is so original. My favorite part is when the guy started to play with the puppet outside, then our fun gets cut off by darkness and a scare. I love that because it diverts from our expectations. Another thing I absolutely love about this, aside from the sound design and music, is the movement of the man when he was being controlled. I think those kinds of movements are underrated in the horror industry. I guess you filmed it slow but then sped it up to make it look like a smooth stop motion, right? I wish more film makers utilize stop motion in their work, the choppiness and uncanny movements in frames is such good horror material with how icky it feels to watch them.
I only wish the puppet's head didn't turn to reveal how it looked like. I loved the zooming in, cinematography, and build up towards that moment, but it would have been better if there was no big reveal and us viewers were just edged to leave our imagination running. I don't want to rewrite anything, but I would have done it by a zoom in on the guy's eye and seeing the reflection of the puppet's head turning if you really need a face reveal, but the reflection within the eyes is blurry so the audience would have to look closer before the puppet jumps towards the eyes with horrific teeth to consume the guy's face or something. Although I think it would be more logical if the guy followed the puppet's head turn and breaks his own neck trying to do an Emily Rose or something.
Even with the anticlimactic jumpscare in the end, the concept, sound, and movement sold me. Thank you for the splendid work!
So now we are calling videos under four minutes long "films"?
Short films or movies are sometimes called short subjects. Before 1910 all American movies were short subjects. Another term used for short films is avant-garde or "avant-garde short films".
best comment, thank you for sharing your ideas ma'am đ
I liked the face reveal tbh
Bro fluent in yapanese
It wouldâve been much scarier if when he turned around he wouldâve had no face including no mouth and tried to scream
That's just a face in the dark ruskin bond
I feel like it would have been best if it ended with him looking through the peephole and ending up looking at the concrete wall, to then have someone else control him.
True
Neo from The Matrix?
Nah
While I agree that the jump-scare ending has been overdone, the rest of this was quite good. With no dialogue (and in under three and a half minutes), you had a compelling setup and suspenseful buildup - and that's better than most horror shorts. Well done! (Just, in the future, no jump-scares)... :)

This is the kind of horror that really freaks me out. Itâs something you canât fight. Itâs so bizarre and unavoidable. Itâs like demons and things that we have no real way to combat. The randomness of the methods of tormenting the victim make is so eerie. You literally are at the mercy of whatever this âbeingâ wants to do. Very effective editing. Itâs like a bad drug trip. Yikes.
Yeah. Being completely out of control of your own movements is an uncomfortable concept.
Why does every brilliant short horror film have to end with a lame-ass jump scare?
Agreed! I was like "please don't be a generic shocked face jump scare ending pleeease"
@@XtZBane Yay, I'm glad someone has the same view! I don't see very many people point this out about horror short films, but its seems to have spread to more than half of them. Its very sad.
It's the proverbial punchline.
@@antoinesubitlescoups338 If what you mean is that it makes it all seem like a joke, than yes, you are correct.
@@strangejett1394 No I did not mean that. And I don't even agree with this idea that a joke needs a punchline. It was a good horror short, unlike some few really bad jokes. You don't even know what I meant.

Fantastic concept! I loved that when the double was in the room and he looked at the door and then back, it looks like the double is trying not to be caught looking at him even though it was just mimicking the movements. And it was a great moment when the double flipped the control.
Though I do think the ending would have been stronger if the double could have forced him to walk by moving his legs (maybe in place?), and if the shirt had ended right when the last step before reaching the double was being taken. The mystery of never seeing the double's face would have been much scarier.
But it was stellar until the ending!
I fully agree--that should've been the ending, or something close.
Watch closer, the spook is looking way further back than the guy
The double was absolutely staring at him when he was looking at the door knob
This was fantastic. I saw the 3:43 length of the video and actually wondered how someone could make an effective short horror in that time. Nice job!
Watch CURVE!! Even 1 minute of that short is enough to scare the sh-- out of you.
This.. was.. AWESOME. I've seen a BILLION of these little shorts, and this is the first one in a long time that I REALLY loved. This was done SO PERFECTLY. Top notch. Absolutely BRILLIANT!!!
LOVE this concept. The fish eye effect is used in a way i've never seen before. Also, the fact that this movie was made with a character only is astonishing (super creative!) However, I wish the short film ended at 2:58, letting the audience choose what would happen next. I didn't find the rest of the short film as scary as the beginning. Besides, after that clip, the viewers already know that the clone can control the main character. Therefore, the rest isnât necessary.
Regardless, this inspired me A LOT. Thanks for sharing!
It has a very original concept I can imagine a whole movie that has something to do with clones and puppets.
Jordan Peele's "Us" is literally about Carl Jung's theory on the Shadow People. how every person has a "shadow person" like a marionette.

@@ceoofbikinibottom1813 I think that person was joking that they thought dauntless meant their eyes were literally glued to the screen, rather than figuratively.
The second it showed the clone inside the apartment I literally threw my phone down and walked away shouting "Nope!" Great short, really cut to the fear center.
"If you see another person that looks identical to you, run away and hide"
Looking through a peephole is always so creepy to me and I love it! The jump scare in the end is so expected that it doesn't really matter in my opinion
Once when I was in college, people would bang on the doors in the middle of the night then step just out of the way of the peephole. It was too freaky to open the door and see who was there so the only view you had was out of the damn peephole. I heard later than someone broke into the dorm and was fucking with people

When the lights were flickering at the end my own lights started flickering and it made it so much scarier. Very well done!
This managed to creep me out more than 99% of the full-length horror movies I've seen, and I've seen just about all of them (the good ones, anyway).
Reminded me of the doppelganger thin where if you see your doppelganger then it meant to be an omen of impending death. The ending was a bit cheesy but the rest was awesome! Good work, Jash Pictures, Inc, happy to subscribe :)
Great film the acting and music was really good. I think the man mimicking the creature is what gave it access into his home.
But the creature was mimicking HIM, not the other way around.
Initially. But then it WAS the other way around. The creature made the motion of tearing off the door handle, and the man was forced to do the same. I think by watching the creature mimic him, he made a sort of connection that then allowed it to work the other way.
BUT THAT'S JUST A THEORY...
A *PEEPHOLE* THEORY.
What was the tune this man in the film was listening to on tv and what kind of dance was it? I am very curious because I liked it a lot.
This was one of the most unsettling things I've seen in a long while. Nicely done.

I thought is was excellent, even the jump-scare. Great job.
All I'm gonna say is that a horror comedy film with this concept would be awesome.
Fabulous. I loved the setting, the premise, the sound design, and the concept: plus the gray, nowhere production design and the excellent performance all coheres so well. It reminds me strongly of a surrealist painting by Magritte that shows a one-dimensional man looking at the back of his own head in the mirror. The 'monsterface' is simply a way of ending the premise, so it's fine, though nowhere as scary as the setup. The fine achievement is in mood establishment and expressing the 'rules' of the situation.
That was so friggin scary, awesome and unique! This one deserves an award for that on it's own... Not to mention the best part about it... The friggin acting of the actor!!
