      @@AIRStudio-AngelRiveros wax the board, it will give good grip, you need to be on the steeper face of the wave but watch out for a bigger set breaking further out, ul get great speed down the steeper face of the wave, carve it up and try staying at a decent height along the wave if it's peeling nicely, if you need more speed drop down the face slightly. Sometimes I like to take a drop off the lip but need to land on the steeper face to get most of the benefit of the drop, then there are other times that stunt gets you punished lol enjoy it and keep at it,. Get time on small waves you'll know what best to do on bigger sets when the time comes

    • @iaincampbell_

    I'm new to this game but Since watching and studying this stuff and boogin 2 years now some things start to hit the sweetspot. Using your eyes is most important, timing is next crucial thing. Weight transfer to the sides and upperbody movement up and down and front to back where big gamechangers for me this summer in France when the surf got slightly bigger. Felt the most control was in the rails and a result of things written above were applied in some kind of way. And staccato movement were a no, smooth connections of changes in movement on the board had the best results. Still heaps and heaps to learn (like when to and what and what to not) so need to get better to have even more fun and applie more techniques in small waves. You and a surtain mr. Hardy made my holidays lots of more fun. Thanks lots and lots!

So still a bit figuring out what to train in small short waves...

    Love your content dude. I think it'd be awesome to help with some videos on how to bodyboard in bigger surf.
    What would be a way to remain stable and gauge appropriate speed when wanting to catch a bigger wave? And how can you avoid getting gassed when paddling out? What's the safest way to ride a bigger wave securely? How do you maintain stability when dropping in late on a bigger wave? How do you stay safe in reef bottom surf when the surf is pretty heavy?
    What do you do when you get caught on the inside and you're gassed, what's the best response to stay safe? What do you do when you find yourself in just inches of water above reef and sea urchins?
    All questions I've had in literally those exact moments. I always found a way out and have my own methods, would love to watch a video with your take.

    • @iaincampbell_
      @iaincampbell_  Před 4 lety +1

      Wow that’s a lot of information. Some of those I can’t answer unfortunately. I would love to but it’s all about what the waves are like, your skill level and experience. If you’re getting gassed in a paddle out you need to find the best way to get out.
      There is a lot more questions about that but I can try answer more another time. That’s a lot of information that mostly comes down to experience with what you have asked. My main tip would be “If in doubt, don’t paddle out!”

      Well said Iain. I've been bodyboarding for over thirty years and I know Iain would have a better idea or clue than me on reading a wave because he is sponsored and been world champ but I've seen tonnes of style and have to say, Iain is one of the smoothest I've ever seen. Does moves in the most critical parts of the wave, especially that backflip on the right during last years Arica comp, as to which I feel he was hard done by - he should've got tens but aye, that's just my thought.
      Reading a wave comes with tonnes of experience. Watch stacks of bodyboard vids. Sorry but if you want it quicker, you have to breath, eat, train bodyboard! I miss being at one with mother nature and want a sniper board asap because I miss that feeling. Bro, I was spending so much time watching others but nothing beats getting out there and practice, practice makes perfect, just like novak djokovic and ben simmons (NBA) $233 Mil contract - who said what now, lol.. Peace

      You're right. Nothing beats practice. It's hard for guys like me who do not live near the ocean anymore. But thank God for the 2 wave pools they built near by me. NLAND and BSR surf park. It's not cheap but they will see a lot of me this summer lol

      @iaincampbell_  Před 5 lety +1

      Hi Trevor.
      Nothing special except when it comes to steep waves. That’s when you would use your knees a bit more. Fins are there to act as rudders and to form the end of the trail your board is making.

    It's great to have advice from a rider of your level ! Like me, I think a lot of riders can't perform right or left on all the moves. So if you could explain how to make up for these shortcomings it would be cool. Obviously the reverse air is a maneuver that I would like to learn. Kisses an thank you Iain :D

    • @iaincampbell_
      @iaincampbell_  Před 5 lety

      Hi Victor. All you have to remember is that what ever you did on the left to perform a move needs to be mirrored to perform it on the right. Once you understand these basic moves on the board the rest should work but it takes time. So enjoy the experience and keep trying it.

    Hi iain. Could you do a video on how to choose and use fins properly? Im really struggling with finding a fin that doesnt feel like I've got 2 kettlebells strapped to my ankles. or are my legs just weak?

    • @iaincampbell_
      @iaincampbell_  Před 2 lety

      I could definitely do something like that but just to let you know my opinion is going to be a bit bias as I am working closely with churchills. I think all fins are going to be a bit heavy but it’s all about finding the comfort in the fins and making sure they feel good on your feet.

    hey bro, can you make a video of the board itself? Like the different type of boards for different skill level riders, the purpose for those boards and give us your recommendation. I had a cheap board that i used for a few years until it started bubbled on me. i have to get a new board, so i bought it (CustomX board) because of the color and expensive price tag, but i didn't know what i was buying or what that board supposed to build for. if you could make a video explaining different type of boards that would be greatly appreciated.

      a few tips for dk I can give,
      1. Go home and put your board down and your fins on and just practice the pop up over and over. it sounds kooky but it seriously helps a lot.
      2. when you pop up make sure you are on your back knee first. for your front foot, you are going to want to almost scoop your fin out around the rail instead of dragging it up the board.
      3. when your doing a bottom turn sometimes it helps to drag your hand in the face to help stability and speed control. when you want to turn i would rail grab at first and then once you get the feel of turning eventually do it without the rail grab.
      Hope this helps, it’s not too detailed. I was thinking of making a video on it.

    • @iaincampbell_

      Hi. No you need to have your body centred on the board and your weight pushing forward in order to get the nose down and get you onto the waves.
      Website should be up and running early next week. Hoping it will all be okay with no issues.
