Taking of backwards is a very common procedure when departing confined areas & helipads. Should there be a mechanical issue It allows the pilot to hopefully auto rotate back down to the take off point whilst maintaining good visual references, knowing the area is safe & clear of obstructions, having just been there.
As shown here in the video Ideally facing into wind, they will climb up & back to a specific safe decision height, then rotate into forward flight and away they go.

The 109 family isn't designed by Agusta and Bell it's only an Italian Agusta design showing how is possibile to build a beautiful rotorcraft with no style compromise and high technical level

It is operated as Children's Air Ambulance based at Coventry Airport alongside the Wawrickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance. It has now been replaced with an Agusta AW169 in Summer 2017 I think G-HEMZ might be a private AW109 now
