  • A visit to Toton Bank to view the yards and TMD along with passing freight and light engine workings. There was quite a selection of liveries to see across a range of Class 56s, 60s, 66s, and 67s, with DB Cargo, GB Railfreight, Colas, DRS, DC Rail, and Freightliner locos all featuring.
    Filmed on 10th September 2020.

I have not lived there for over 40 years, sad to see that it has declined so much, but is still operating, thanks for the video

Every time I see this site on film, I find it sad to see the rows of locos destined to rot. You captured it very well, a great film - top notch Darren!

Great photography. This yard needs a clean up and also those Class 60s need putting back in working order or scrapping.

Quite a change from the double roundhouse that I visited in 1962!

Great video Darren. Still quite a lot happening even though its not half the yard and depot it used to be.

What a complete mess the Toton site is compared to how it was maintained in BR days. All that overgrown vegetation wouldn’t have been tolerated.

DB seem to like to hoard Class 60's and let them rot in the yard, there's practically a fleet of them just sitting around and look like they haven't moved for about 20 years.

When in the uk in 2018 I remember passing Toton yard in a Cross Country Voyager on our way to Reading, this I think was a diversion are there no passenger trains passing on a normal day.

I would imagine that DB cannot afford to scrap the unused 60’s because they still hold a value on their balance sheet , luckily several have been sold and refurbished to other rail freight companies . It also highlights the amount of work that BD has lost over the years . I believe that the wholesale use of pesticides in recent years is now frowned upon because of the residential damage that it does .
I do agree however that the whole site looks like a run down scrap yard and is an absolute disgrace .

The new bank isn’t even operational so there’s no reason to pay for gardening
