  • Install and review of Stoltec Moto fork springs on the Tenere 700. Definitely a noticeable improvement in the front suspension. Less diving on hard braking and improved balanced feel. Extremely happy with this one!

    I just completed my front spring change and was very pleased with the results. I’m sure you can do it without the motion pro, suspension tool, but it was a must for me. Thanks for making the video!

    Good video. Thanks so much. For some reason I put it off. Only took a couple of hours including getting all the tools out.
    Note to others: get your floor jack under the engine before you unscrew both of the fork caps. I did not and almost dropped the bike. Had it on the center stand only and when I finished unscrewing the second cap, the front dropped, the bike rolled forward and off the center stand. I was able to catch it and “phone a friend” for help.

    Great video. What about the oil level? When you take out the old springs, there is some amout of oil on it..

    • @Floatsorrolls1
      @Floatsorrolls1  Před rokem

      Appreciate it! Stoltec actually recommends removing some oil(can’t remember how much) but In our case we did not remove any more than what came out with the spring which is very minimal.

    The blue tool for holding the fork rod from sliding down when changing the spring, can you confirm if it's M10 or M12 thread?. Thanks

      @Floatsorrolls1  Před rokem

      M10 threads. Here is the link to the tool if u need it! Thanks for watching!

    How difficult was it to screw the caps back in to the fork tube with the new springs in?

    • @Floatsorrolls1
      @Floatsorrolls1  Před 2 lety +1

      If the front suspension is supported (right at the point of nearly weightless) it should be easy. Make sure upper pinch bolts are loose and not to cross thread the cap😎

    • @dbryant61
      @dbryant61 Před 5 měsíci

      It’s easy if you compress the springs with zip ties like he shows.

    Hi Matt,
    great job, I thougt I'd have to remove the fork legs from the bike for changing the springs.
    One question, what is the thread size you screw this long blue tool, don't know how it's called, on. Is it M10x1 mm?

    • @Floatsorrolls1
      @Floatsorrolls1  Před 2 lety

      Yes i believe so. Here is the link to the tool if u need it! Thanks for watching!

    Is that blue thing required to do this?

    • @Floatsorrolls1

      You can probably get by with a cable tie on the threads wrapped around another cable tie to hold it or tape on the threads and use long needle nose pliers. If you drop it you can use a magnet to retrieve it. Would recommend a second person to give you a hand made it alot easier.

      We usually do on the other bike but bike only has 3k miles. stoltec just recommended lowering the level of oil but we didnt.

    Shouldnt the fork oil be changed every year?

    • @Floatsorrolls1
      @Floatsorrolls1  Před 13 dny +1

      If you’re taking it offroad, keep it in a non climate controlled area and/or putting 10,000 miles or more a year on the bike then might be worth doing yearly but for us we wont even think about doing again for a long while unless they feel in need of attention. Our Tenere is 100% street use, stored in climate controlled area year round and gets about 2-3k miles of use per year. For our situation yearly would be overkill but doing it more frequently certainly doesn’t hurt. Everyone will have a different opinion on it but is more on how you use the bike. Offroad adventure riders it is probably a good idea to do yearly. The street queens can probably stretch that out 3-4 years or every 10,000miles whichever comes first seems to be what we end up doing on our bikes.
