Is Whole Foods London Really Worth it? Is it now 'cheap'?

- Time to pop along to Whole Foods at High Street Kensington to see what nice Spring foods they have in stock. Also surprisingly saw some items here that were cheaper than some of the major supermarketers in the UK. What is going on? Whole Foods cheaper than Sainsbury's?!

Those prices are regular prices here in the US at a regular grocery store. Whole Foods is far more expensive here!
I'm American but live in the UK. Prices back home have simply just gone way out of control. A decade ago there was very little between the US and UK in terms of grocery prices. I recently went over to see family/friends in California and I was stunned at just how stupid the price of everything has got!
@@LILLYB8328 not in Ohio! Still reasonable to grocery shop.😊
@@tammimarie That's good to know. I'm from Santa Barbara so figures things will be far more expensive here. But still, I was back over during the holidays and I was stunned when I saw it was like almost 6 bucks for a dozen eggs in the store local to my Mom's!
Things have gotten more expensive all over the US
I live in Florida and shop at Publix. It’s like highway robbery! Prices are insane. Can’t wait to get to London in a few weeks and shop for less expensive groceries at the Whole Foods!
I'm from NZ but I lived in London for a year when I was 20. I love watching your videos and reminiscing on all the shopping. I used to spend my days off just looking around shops like you do and not buying anything because I had no money. There is just so much variety and the department stores are wonderful 😍
Hannah, I totally understand why you purchase prepared food for yourself. Cooking for one is not a joy all the time, your probably saving money on groceries as buying all the ingredients would be more expensive and wasteful. I was really impressed by the quality/flavour of the prepared foods in the supermarkets in the UK. 🇨🇦❤️
You had me howling with laughter in the Cheese Department 😂! Thanks for the always entertaining walk throughs Hannah.
I am going to have to incorporate "lazy cheese" into something this weekend. Have a Whole Foods near my office and the London one puts this one to shame.
Can you imagine your fridge with some of those cheeses, sure they probably delicious but the smell 😂
It's the thought of all those cheese mites that puts me off 🤢
Thanks for watching!
Love your channel Hannah. I’ve been raving about your Afternoon Tea videos so much that my daughter-in-law is taking me and her mom to Tea for Mother’s Day! I’m so excited! 🇺🇸
Have a lovely time!!
Agreed! This channel is what made me want to take my wife to afternoon tea when we visited two weeks ago. Fortnum & Mason was so nice!
Im in Melbourne Australia and have started obsessing over your High teas. Did a canvas this weekend of all my friends and family to book up a whole series leading up to Christmas.
44 minutes after posting, and 1.8k views already. And up to 109k subscribers too, now, I see Hannah. Great to see your success with this lovely channel of yours! Long may it continue. 🥰
Thank you so much!
@@HannahRicketts You're so welcome, your vlogs are a perfect way to end the working week. (Says he, retired these many years!) Your bright, chatty demeanour is a delight. And I see you've gathered another thousand subscribers over the weekend, too. You deserve your success, Hannah. It's wonderful to see.
I love to cook, but many people don't and I don't think we should judge those who don't. People should just stay in their own lane. You do you. I found your video extremely interesting. Despite visiting the UK more than a few times, I didn't spend time in the stores you take us to, so I totally enjoy it. Thank you for taking us, it's much appreciated!
I love cooking and baking as well. However when I cook I tend to make to much and since I live alone I end up giving a lot to my friends, LOL. I also make my own pasta.
Thanks so much!
I'm a chef and I enjoy cooking at work but not at home. I find it boring to cook for myself so I never cook at home
Nothing wrong with lazy food! However, Whole Foods is crazy expensive. Thanks for the tour Hannah! ☺
I hate the term '' lazy '' because it was invented to be ableist and classist from evil people
Since the Amazon takeover there are a lot of affordable items in Wholefoods in the US at least. Especially when combined with your Amazon Prime rewards. Cheers for the video!
bloody hell, the prices oh my God how can any average common person afford that? thanks Hannah for the amazing recording.
Another great vlog Hannah. I live by myself and it’s cheaper to buy pre packed foods than cook. The price of living in Australia is through the roof! Also love the streets of London very pretty!😍😍😍
Hannah, Grenache is a very good Rose' Wine.
I love all your videos, especially all the big London shops, so thank you for taking the time to show us x
I enjoyed looking at the Wholefood Shop. I can never get over the amazing choice of different foods that are available in England and the flowers are stunning. I wouldn't feel guilty about buying ready-made meals because I hate cooking.
Hey Hannah! You should make some videos for us tourists! Like if you were to spend just four days in London what would you do?
Thx Hannah for another tour of Whole Foods (Paycheck) in London! I love your opinions re all the cheese options....shredded, cubed, slices.....all lazy!
Also how some cheese items looked like they should be thrown away....too funny! As always Hannah, your vlogs are a bright spot in my week!
Have a nice weekend Hannah, & I look forward to watching next week's vlog with a possible "Coronation" theme!
It's a different world in That London than most places in the UK
Awesome video Hannah 👌🏻
I just went this morning to Whole Foods here in Atlanta, Georgia. You definitely have more of a selection at the London store! Enjoy the videos!
Honestly, you had me at Zara Home! Love Zara and H&M, and this one was so well presented 👏 also, Wholefoods!! I've never been in one but it looks amazing. But given my absolute thrity-ness, I'll settle for Tesco Hot cross buns for £1.15😂.
Thanks for this lovely. 🎉⭐
Best vlogger#2023!
Who cares if you buy ready made food Hannah! It’s convenient and no judgement here!!! I would do it every day if I could… I am done cooking at my age 😊Thank you for another great video ❤
Omg I love the bike footage! ❤
"Bit off of green juices and things, feel like they're a bit of a con." Love it!!! Great video!
I love it when you show us the food and merch. Thank you!💗 I feel as if I'm there with you.
Love your style of vlogging. Very informal and fun. Your shopping vlogs got me from the get go. Found you a few months ago and you're part of my Saturday morning routine with tea and breakfast. I've been catching up watching some of your older videos as well. Great job! Thanks for sharing a peek into living your life in London ❤
Such a fun shopping 🛍️ Vlog 🫶🏻. Thanks for taking us along on your travels 🚲
I've never been in a Whole Foods! So this video was interesting for me. Love the cycling montage at the end. Would love to see more cycling. Thanks, Hannah, your tours are always fun!
Very late to your videos but enjoying your refreshing and honest style. You go to my favourite parts of London which I try to visit once a year.
I haven't seen the Wholefoods shop in London but I've been to the ones in New York and love the concept. I hope they come up to the North. I'd practically live in it, certainly shop there daily.
Thank you, Hannah 😊 a pleasure as always!!! Another amazing video!!
Thank you so much Hannah for this lovely video. You really captured the essence of Wholefoods. ❤
😂 I wish Wholefoods wasn't that expensive anymore. A loaf of sourdough bread was about £7 the other day when I went in. Jacuzzi is pretty nice. The interior design is a tad OTT but the truffle pizza was big and tasty. Ooooh I'm looking forward to your Bicester Village vlog already. West Elm have some nice bedding at the moment. I love Povvo guy. Povvo power!!! 🤣 Thanks for the heads up about the truffle crisps. I was going to try them but now I won't bother if they are too oily. I love the way you film the scenery on your route home. That is so good.
Yes, looking forward to your Bicester walk round Hannah 🤓👜👜👜
Yes me too on Bicester
Hannah - The Luchito brand is lovely, and we have them up north here in our Tesco. And the La Preferida is a truly American mexican experience. (source: Probably the only Mexican in Yorkshire!)😂 Love these videos! Love your channel! xx
That was not a bad haul with regards to cost because it looked like good quality food. I don't mind spending a bit extra for the quality. I don't have kids so I think obviously the bigger the family the bigger the cost. The meat section looked so yummy and the cheese omg I could move in there, it looks delicious. If you compare certain foods obviously WF would be pricey to some people, its not targeted at the Lidl/Aldi customer. One thing that has increased all over is vegan/vegetarian foods, which some looks delicious but studies show its not always healthy and ultra processed. Great video as usual Hannah!
Awesome again and thanks for sharing your wonderful shopping experience.
Love that your cycling…also love that you show all the prices, its everyday things that people never go into in other videos 🥰
Hello Hannah and greetings from across the pond. Excellent video with superb production values. What a haul. That ready made salad looks absolutely delicious - and so do all those items in that salad bar, and of course all those exotic cheeses. Thanks so much for providing an update as to the best items to shop for at Whole Foods this Spring in London. 👍🌹
Thanks Hannah. I don’t get into London as much now so nice to see what’s around.
Love Hannah vlogs! Keep up the fantastic content!!❤
For me, having been back and forth to Europe for decades and living there for some months out of a year since the early/mid 1970s, I don't find Whole Foods that expensive compared to a lot of Northern European/Scandinavian regular grocery store prices.
The Whole Foods flagship store is in Austin, Texas. I went to it around 9 years ago while in Texas for some days visiting folks. We've had Whole Foods here in Los Angeles for many years as Whole Foods bought out our Mrs. Gooch's healthy-food supermarket chain here in Los Angeles. Mrs. Gooch opened up back in the 70s and was the pioneer of this healthy-food supermarket concept. We had plenty of small health-food stores, but she had a supermarket.
There were Whole Foods execs who came out here to visit Mrs. Gooch's supermarkets back in the day. As far as I know, she's still going strong (Sandy Gooch).
Then, in 1993, Whole Foods bought out Mrs. Gooch's and in 2017, Amazon bought out Whole Foods. I still miss Mrs. Gooch's. And Mrs. Gooch used to walk through her supermarkets and chat with customers from time to time.
I was just at Whole Foods today as I ran in to get a sandwich and a couple other items since I was out running errands. I shop regularly at both Whole Foods and other similar stores here. And as far as items that I buy at Whole Foods, I have priced some of the same items that I buy at Whole Foods and other similar stores with those at regular supermarkets like Ralphs and there have been more than a few of the same items that have been more expensive at Ralphs. I just price checked again last month.
Looking at your filming of the pre-cut fruit in containers and the prices, Yikes! Today I bought one of those small containers of honeydew melon; .46 of a pound and it was U.S.$3.22 total and only because it was pre-cut/chunked and packaged. One can get a whole honeydew melon usually for less than U.S.$5.00. But, I needed per-cut and packaged since it was for my quick lunch on the go. I'm reading from my today's (April 28th) Whole Foods receipt in front of me.
Greetings from Los Angeles
Absolutely love blogs
I come across them by accident, but have subscribed, love you comment s ,and very down to earth personality ❤
I love the look of Wholefoods - fantastic range of products and layout, but my goodness those prices are totally bonkers! Great vlog as always, and yes - so lovely to see a bit of sunshine! x
Great fun window shopping the food; thanks!
Hi Hannah. Thank you for another wonderful Vlog. Cheers. x
I look forward to your weekly videos, thank you.
Thank you so much for this video. Finally, I'm visiting London in May❗ Looking forward to shopping at Whole Foods as I love organic stuff💞
Love your "Cheap/NOT cheap" take in this video!😊 Mind you, the way prices are going up everywhere else, they don't seem so outlandish these days! I miss Zara Home too. They had lovely bedding and always had tableware made of shells, and abalone. My nearest one closed some years ago. Anyway as always, your video brought a smile to my face. Thanks, Hannah!
I'm excited about the Coronation. I maybe the only one here in your comments, I just can't wait to witness and live through our historical event! Even my young grandchildren are excited about the Coronation.
Love your videos Hannah. Look forward to them every week. Would love to see some day trips away from London as well
Thank you hannah for another Excellent video thank you for showing different styles of different shops Looking forward to the next one Love from Dublin🇮🇪❤️
Hi Hannah, Many thanks. Enjoyed your video. I wish there were more Whole Food stores around London.
Oh this is so wholesome 😅. It really is. I’ve mentioned before when you went to Harrods love your content. Would like to come here when I visit London 😊
I was one of those who mentioned in a previous vlog that I used to work in that Art Deco building when it was a department store called Barkers: that cordoned off staircase on the right was the way up to the fashion department on the first floor.
Ah yes! that's so cool
thanks !!! i like so much your videos and this whole foods , i always go during my holidays in London 🙂
I loved the shop and the stunning building Hannah!
ThanksHannah, really enjoyed this one. Xxx
I GOTTA SAY HANNAH I LOVE THE MUSIC U USE IT'S AWESOME FUNKY AND SOPHISTICATED.
Another great vlog Hannah ❤❤
Love your page - it always picks me up! I used to live in Maida Vale, so love it there. Just fab.x
The Berry Chantilly Cake from Whole Foods is WORTH IT! A lovely celebration cake.
I so enjoy your vlogs, Hannah. Interesting to see many of the same things on offer here in the U.S. based Whole Foods, like that Chantilly cake. I just booked my flight for July to visit London. So glad to finally be coming back! In the meantime I'll keep watching your vlogs to build my excitement. Happy Friday!
The Chantilly cake is famous!! Yum
Oh Hannah thank you x Your comments in the cheese department 😂😂😂😂😂Have a fantastic weekend xx
We don’t have Whole Foods here in Australia so I found your video really interesting love how you show the prices and you laugh with cheeses, I loved the cycling bit too, thanks for us with you 👏🏼👏🏼🙏🙏
Hannah, I'm 2.5 years sober. Keep going, get to one year! And Erdinger Zero is great, I add a dash of lemon ❤
I love your food shop videos! Thanks so much
Heya Hannah! Thanks for that video. I've only ever had one Whole Foods experience at that was at Columbus Circle in NYC - and I'm a Saffa - lol. This looks awesome! Thanks for another great vlog. Can't wait for next week! x
Oh wow, I didn't know that there was a WHOLE FOODS over in the UK!!!! I have just subscribed to your channel. Thank you for sharing this awesome video. Peace and blessings to you and yours, ❤🙏.
Super vlog Hannah.Typical UK when healthy food is a lot more expensive.Hope you enjoyed your meal with your friends.🎉😊
Thank you , love your videos, i used to live in London and i miss it terribly , thank you !
Hello Hannah the London tea bus looks fun! Blessings and happy thoughts! ❤🎉❤
Enjoyed the cycling home - thanks Hannah.
Hi Hannah
Great vlog. Whole Foods looks brilliant.
Nothing wrong with lazy food.
If Itchy Boots can use GoPro you should be able to manage it on your electric bike.
Congratulations on being alcohol free for 5 months….well done
hello! off to whole foods after work today... thanks Hannah! till next Friday!!!
Enjoyed the video. Thank you for sharing.
Loved the video and the bike cam view!
Another great video. Thank you. Really enjoyed.
The madeleine's, fresh berries and hot food section was excellent at this Whole Foods, and visiting from Norway my sister and I thought the prices were quite reasonable and the variety was excellent. Food prices in Norway are crazy and choice is limited for anyone coming from rest of Europe😂.
I work in a big grocery store here in my London, Canada, some of those prices are Outrageous! Some of the prices mmm, not too bad. Enjoyed the video!
Food looks amazing As always thanks Hannah Enjoy your weekend….
I popped into the wholefoods in Kensington a few years ago when we were visiting London, just wanting to grab some lunch on the go. They had some lovely stuff but couldn't honestly believe how expensive some of it was! I mean it's fine if you're just getting a few yummy things isn't it but made me wonder if anyone does a bigger weekly shop there.
Hi Hannah! I very much enjoyed the bike footage. Please do more of that. Show us London in the spring! 🌞🌷🪻🌻
Really enjoyable as always!
I am right there with you. I cooked for years when my Kids were growing up. I don't want to cook anymore and love the Convenient food section I like to call it :-)
Love these videos. I spied some luscious looking big ox tails in that meat section. They are relatively expensive in Australia now. Used to be so cheap years ago.
Excellent as always Hannah 😂😘
Enjoyed watching you as always Hannah, my god those prices 😮. Have a lovely bank holiday x
“Who is buying that much Diffuser?” Hahaha. Hannah you are the best ! We love you in South Florida Delray Beach.! Take a vacation and I’ll show you around Atlantic Ave.. you could do a wonderful video blog here.👍
Constructive criticism: you are great! I lOVE your videos ! Here in Idaho, would love to visit London again! Love it sooooo much. Thank you Hannah!!!
Love your videos. My Wife and I love you and all your videos. Keep up the good work.❤❤
More fabulousness, right there, Hannah!
This is not lazy food, lol. Convenient. I also don't like buying a bag of salad. Goes to waste. Rather buy ready made meals. The variety of ready made meals on offer is incredible. Looking good. Thank you for sharing. Great when going out to the beach or picnic. Love it.
Awesome video Hannah thank you 👍❤️
Your hair looks lovely Hannah!
Canadians call it ‘Whole Paycheque’, too. Personally, I prefer Trader Joe’s, but we Canucks have to sneak over the border for that 😂. Another great video, Hannah xox
loved seeing options and prices :)
Another great vlog, especially the cheese coverage.
(Torres black truffle crisps-yummo, as Rick Stein likes to say.)
The scenic cycle ride was cool, too.👍
Cheers!
Thanks again for the vid, Hannah.
Loved the footage of London from the bike 🚴 🏴
Love your channel!
Whole Foods is so expensive but definitely the largest one I’ve ever seen in the uk!! Thanks for sharing!😅
Love the cycling footage. These prices are still not bad compared to Australia and you have so much choice. I actually love that you have all those preprepped options.
Beautiful as always 👌👌👌 Have a nice day.
I don't know what crawled up other people's butts, cause you mentioned unkind comments, but I just wanted to hop on here and tell you that your vlogs are my favorite part of the week, and your personality is lovely, and you look absolutely gorgeous, so ignore anything that tries to put a dampener on your spirits. I've been a fan for a year now, I think, and I'm always grateful to you for taking me all over London, cause I wouldn't be able to visit myself (too expensive).
