  • Another superb machine from the fantastic Terry Pickering classic dirt bike collection and this featured 1979 RM125 Suzuki Twinshocker is another bike that has been fully restored by Keith Ree.

    Chris this was my first race bike I purchased for $1075 out the door in 1979. I took third place in my first race. I loved this bike.

    This was my dream bike to own back in 79’. But never had that much $$$ as a 15 year old. Fast forward 27 years and I find and restore the big brother to this bike, the RM250N. All NOS parts from an excellent source now long gone.
    My RM250 sits along side her sister bikes from that year that I have also restored, the 79’ CR250R and a KX250A-5. They are my pride and joy and a blast to ride. Now almost 60 years old and will ride forever.

    Glad I kept mine! Bought it at a motorcycle salvage yard in So Calif years ago for a hundred bucks. Mostly original and a few rusty spokes, but it still runs like a champ...

    My last race bike was the 1977 RM125, very close without the aluminum swingarm. Love seeing her rip! Subscribed.

    Beautiful restoration!).
    The 79 RM 125 was the first real bike I ever rode beyond a Honda mini trail.
    It was brand new then.
    I immediately found myself lying flat on my back and laughing at the sky.
    I was 12. I had no idea : )
    I jumped right back on it and never looked back.

    Beautiful job. I have one in my shed, and ill be doing the whole restoration on my channel and can't wait. My grandfather bought it for my uncle in 79, i got it in 95 as a basket case, rebuilt it and rode it till i left for college , sold it to a buddy and got it back in 2018 as a basket case again. she's gonna get the full proper treatment this time . Awesome video

      Even better when your outclassed Honda CR125m Elsinore 1974 gets the holeshot on 2 & beats 1 back in the day, a mate owned a new one but my worked CR was Still competitive.Trev New Zealand

      @@monticlassictv Chris how about doing a bike feature on the Powroll big bore kits. ? A mate had a Honda SL125 with a Californian 150 cc kit fitted - heavy bike but it pulled sweetly like a tractor. They were popular in the 1970s & 80s

      PS I Know a firm in Australia that could duplicate them now: JP Engineering - send them a used piston or the cad dimensions.Trev NZ I've dealt with the owner .They have a range of common cast blanks or will do you one.Have big bore early Escort pistons too & stuff like that (do rings,pins too)Trev

    This looks very similar to My bike, but it had a mono shock. One thing I liked was the power band, oh my god did fly, but being an asthmatic did not help but it never stopped me..I just loved my bike as it had a pro racing gear box.

    hi Chris, for the looks of the plastics its a 1980 bike, i know because i bought one back in de day, the 1979 bikes had square formed fenders, but this could wel be a 79 wit 80's fenders.

  • @traileater
    @traileater Před 2 lety

    Eye of the beholder for the fenders...I liked them, I was there when they came out...the N had a unique look and sound.
    The engine bolts were too small, caused longevity issues if not remedied!
    Those fins look rough on your sample, few other build errors noticed. Love the zooks!

    • @darrylmarbut47
      @darrylmarbut47 Před rokem

      I liked that style rear fender better than the early run square one that came in my 79, Kaplan cycles said it was the rare one.
