      they're extremely good now! maybe overperforming against armored single entities, they can beat some dedicated dueling monsters which I'm not entirely sure is intended. But yeah they straight up dominate infantry if heavy mass/AP doesn't come in to support. Which feels correct. lots of fun

    • @odmloupi
      @odmloupi Před rokem +1

      yeah my main problem with them is how well they do vs antilarge/AP cav, which in theory should be a good counter to skullcrackers

  • @sassyviking6003

    I like your suggestion. I think the base iron demon should have pretty bad sustained melee stats but a lot of mass and a big old charge bonus. Logically, what the heck is a train going to do to you just sitting there. But we all know once said train get's rolling, you do not want to be in front of it, even if you're big. The skullcracker on the other hand has these handy spinning and stabbing blades perfect for mulching things smaller than them. Big bonus vs infantry so it can still wreak havoc among densely packed troops. And then the same big mass and charge bonus so once it gets moving again it can be a force to be reckoned with against large but will absolutely shred infantry like a lawnmower cuts grass.

    Really good iron hail gunner play from the cathay player. In pretty much every instance he had them positioned in a way where if one got attacked other one was able to fire the assaillant.
    Also I don't think the plague of rust does that much in the SEM duels there. Skullcracker has 3/4 AP damage distribution to begin with and I think it's a similar case for the lord with a bale taurus mount. Winning through dueling Miao Ying is bit of a fool's errand since she can cast regrowth on herself.

    • @milkandcookiesTW
      @milkandcookiesTW  Před rokem +2

      yeah but she's diving my artillery and is the biggest threat on the field. gotta use my winds of magic somehow, and even a 10-15% increase in damage could be the difference. both Bale Taurus and Skullcracker have base damage components, they aren't full AP. without infantry left its easy to dodge Searing Doom, so casting Plague of Rusts when she comes in to fight seems a fine use of WoM

    put guardmode then attack move, shift move to safe position;
    they should kill and when enemy flee guardmode stops their movement and shift move will move you to next position; the only time this doesn't work is if they are engaged by another unit when the target flee's, as the attack-response will force the unit to enter combat same as if it was charged in motion; and that will as always cancel the shift orders made (sadly, not sure if there is any way to prevent this and make the "disengage immunity" kick in when enemies flee, it would make the unit ignore all attacking them and try to move for 10-24 seconds as if you try to force path through" ^^

    • @Erebus2075
      @Erebus2075 Před rokem +1

      also as long as the order of the 'orders' are not auto cancelled, as if charged when on move order, it will do this correctly;
      so if you take your grail knight and charge a skaven slave, then shift click it to the next slave together with it while on guard mode then shift click move over to another point and shift attack move into a new unit etc.
      -- it will then charge slave 1 and when it flee it will attack slave 2 and when it flee, if order does not get cancelled in the various normal ways such as is attacked etc; it will then move command to the point and then do the attack command (if you shift attack more than 2 units beside each other without move command it generally cancels your order at the third unit because it will likely have trickered the auto-response effect; but 1-2 units is fine from quick testing;
      honestly i never thought or used this in more than thousinds of playhours of tww; only thought of it bc of what you said this vid hehe :D

    I really hope CA won't nerf the Skullcracker too much. I get that it definitely shouldn't beat duelist SEMs in combat and that part needs to be adjusted, but I think that it being able to beat non Anti-Large cav and Monstrous Infantry is fine. It is a giant moving mechanical blender, one of the coolest units in the setting (imo) and was so underwhelming at launch... Single Entity Chariots are so rarely good in this game. Having one that isn't just a worse version of a SEM would be nice. Again, some nerfs are fine, but please CA, be gentle...

      apparently its double/triple attacking against single entities, in a similar manner to Hellebron and Snotling Pump wagons (which are bugged atm). so if true it might be logical to fix that first, then when we can see where the unit is at. overall I like where its at with its performance vs infantry, I think being a linebreaker should be its main role

    • @milkandcookiesTW
      @milkandcookiesTW  Před rokem +6

      an intelligent, well thought out rebuttal. thanks for contributing. If the "nerfs always bad, buffs always good" crowd were in charge of this game every unit would have 3000 melee attack and the campaign would play and win itself. The "MP players" that are "ruining your fun" are the reason K'daai, Deathrockets, Skullcrackers, and Bretonnia got buffs in the first place. It just doesn't fit your MP boogiemen narrative and victim complex so you conveniently ignore it

    • @milkandcookiesTW
      @milkandcookiesTW  Před rokem +1

      Simple fact of the matter is, just because CA released a unit, doesn't mean its in a good or logical spot. Sometimes those units are bad and need help, sometimes (frequently) they have traits that were unintended and make them perform in weird or overpowered/underpowered ways. Skullcracker is clearly designed to counter infantry, and it should be great in that role, which it is now. It should probably NOT also be outdueling dedicated dueling monsters at its current price point. If you have an actual argument why a relatively cheap siege engine should be great in both roles and performing better in duels than monsters who literally specialize in dueling, feel free to explain. I'd love to hear it. But the current design for the unit is an infantry mulching specialist, not a monster hunter. So CA could increase its bonus vs. infantry to preserve its killing power vs foot troops, while lowering its MA a bit to compensate. this would not "ruin the unit".

      I only play singleplayer, and the chaos dwarves were so poorly balanced that units like the bull centaurs were too strong to have fun with after a few battles. Found myself enjoying labourer armies more. Nerfs were good

    • @milkandcookiesTW
      @milkandcookiesTW  Před rokem

      yeah the thing people frequently misunderstand about nerfs, is that if they never happened, then units like Bull Centaurs could completely overshadow every unit on their own roster, and their counterparts on other rosters as well. People wouldn't play Chaos Dwarfs with a mix of guns and cannons and elite infantry and slaves. They'd play them like Bretonnia. Pretty soon you've got a mess where unit roles and specializations dont matter, where the only rule is power creep. Buff one unit, now we have to buff every unit, can't ever nerf stuff cuz people might get upset. This is not how to create or balance a STRATEGY game. And I mean, should be an obvious point, but just because a unit gets nerfed or normalized does not mean its "ruined". Bull Centaurs are still a good monstrous cav unit, I just misplayed them in this particular battle

    • @skeith1543
      @skeith1543 Před rokem +1

      @@milkandcookiesTW MP Players are why those units and Bretonnia got buffs? hmm. Despite being the minority compared to campaign? interesting. I would have figured it was the numerous Campaign playerbase who've been reporting the various issues who got those changes put in. But then again given what they did to Grail Knights in the last patch.... kinda feels like multiplayer nonsense got in the mix. Those grail Knights behave like that skull cracker and care naught for anything in front of them. But i guess if we need unstoppable Cavalry who can easily charge through their direct counter.... it would be the MP guys.
      Now, stick to posting videos and leave off trying to scold people in the comments. You aren't changing anything, or winning any victories by doing so.
      Just cause you have a little sway with CA doesn't put you above the rest of us, so don't let it go to your head.
