  • I love the Reebok BB4600 and it's come out in many different forms since its initial release in 1986. How can you tell the difference between an original pair from the mid 80s and later models? Find out in this video.

    I was in 6th grade in 87 when these were almost at the height of popularity. Everyone had them by 89. I currently have about a dozen pairs. Some authentic and some repro. My 89 pair is just starting to peel. I don't wear them, too small and the rubber sole is rock hard from age. Anyway, great research and video. thumbs up

The 1986 original version with the blue trim and the mostly Blue Sole with the little bit of red rubber around the Pivot Point. We're the very first I noticed and got me into sneakers. Awesome video...great stuff as always. BB 4600 is a grail for me. I picked up a pair of the retro white/red ones with the vintage look. The tag on the inside looks just like the 80s original ones and says the "Athlete's Shoe" and references 90 years which is a cool touch for a retro shoe. I really hope like you that they do a 30 year retro of the white and royal colorway. I had those in the 4th grade in 1988. I bought an original new pair in little kids size because I just wanted to have a pair to look at. The cool thing is since it was a kids shoe it only cost me $35 for a pair in DS condition. Keep up the great work man!

    • @mikecely3610

      Also the size tag has no bar code on the retro off white red ones...Just the size and country of production. Reebok did a perfect retro. They need to do the same thing with a white and royal colorway in 2016!

    • @kevin15776
      @kevin15776  Před 8 lety

      +Michael Cely I agree they should do another retro. Where did you get the white/red retro? I didn't think they released in the US. I saw them on Reebok's UK site but they wouldn't ship them overseas which I was going to rant about in my video. One more thing I decided not to include is that originals were produced in Korea and new ones are usually made in China or Indonesia.

      +kevin15776 I got mine off Ebay from a UK seller. It only came to about $72 shipped so I got a steal. Funny thing is the shoes were about $50 with approximately $22 for shipping. They are made in China (at least my pair is) and my kids original pair is made in Korea. However, my original pair doesn't have the Pat Pending on it. Perhaps post 1986 productions didn't have it I would assume?

      +kevin15776 Yeah. Again I remember the pair I had as a kid I got in 1988 so I assume the patent was approved. I would assume your pair is the first year production. It has the plastic eyelet section. The front perforations are 2,3,4,4,4,3 on what looks to be nubuck. I though the 1986 version had a difference sole and 1987-present has the current sole for the BB4600? I know I had a picture of it somewhere but the ORIGINAL 1986 BB4600 sole looked more the the BB5600/BB5000 and PopTop sole. Does anyone else remember that? Or was this a different version sold along side the BB4600? Because it was only out about a year, I cant find photos easily online. One of them was a white on white BB4600 with light gray and dark gray soles....the side stripes were white layered over the rest of the white sneaker. I know there were other colors as well with this particular sole, but that is the colorway I have a photo of with that specific sole. If I were to call Reebok those representatives seem out of touch with the older Reebok sneakers, unless it is a current retro (which Adidas seems to decide which classics get a retro).
