Salisbury Steaks:
1 lb Ground Beef
2 tbsp ketchup
1 pinch beef bouillon powder
1 tsp worcestershire sauce
salt, pepper, garlic, onion powder, cayenne
1 egg
1/2 cup parmesan bread crumbs
1 tbsp avocado oil and butter
Gravy:
2 chopped onions
8 oz chopped mushrooms
3 tbsps butter
3 tbsps all purpose flour
1 tsp worcestershire sauce
2 cups beef stock
1 tsp better than bouillon beef base
2-3 tbsps heavy cream
1/4 tsp browning
2 tbsps tomato paste
chopped parsley
Directions:
In a mixing bowl, add ground beef and begin to break up with your hands. Add Worcestershire sauce, ketchup, beef bouillon powder, salt, pepper, garlic, onion powder, cayenne, 1 egg, and bread crumbs. Work mixture together with your hands until it forms the consistency of a meatball or meatloaf. Place In the fridge for 30 minutes.
After the mixture has chilled, form into 5-6 oz oval shaped patties and season the exterior with your favorite all purpose or steak seasoning (shouldn’t need much since you seasoned it already)
Heat a skillet over medium high heat and add 1 tbsp oil and 1 tbsp butter. Once the butter melts and skillet is warm, add your hamburger steaks. Cook for about 90 seconds per side or until a nice crust and color forms on each side. Remove the hamburger steaks from the skillet and set aside.
Next, start your gravy but adding butter and onions/mushrooms. Cook the onions and mushrooms down until they are caramelized and tender (about 5-7 minutes). Next, add the beef base, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, remaining butter and mix to combine.
Next, add 3 tbsps all purpose flour and mix to combine. Cook for 1-2 minutes to get rid of the raw flour taste. Next, add beef stock. Bring this mixture to a boil and then reduce to a simmer. (Should begin to form your gravy consistency)
Add heavy cream and browning if needed to darken the color of the gravy. Season to taste and add your hamburger steaks back into the gravy.
Simmer until the hamburger is cooked through or reaches 165 degrees internal temp. Serve over rice or potatoes with the veggie of your choice. - Zábava

I made this today for dinner. Pretty hilarious because I do not like lumps of meat and my hubby was totally against it, but your recipes have NEVER failed me yet so I tried it. WE BOTH LOVED IT! Hubby went back for seconds. I told him since he liked it he should let me make a shepherds pie. I've never had it and apparently he had it too much prior to us getting together. His response was "Mr. Makeithappen better send you a recipe for that first". Please consider it!

this is one of my favorites! i was raised with it served with mushroom gravy which was from a can. but i grew up and now i make mushroom gravy . i usually serve it with mashed potatoes and green beans, they just seem to go together!

I love Salisbury steak and have my own recipe. One of my tricks is to put the patties on a baking sheet under the broiler for a few minutes on each side so they stay together before simmering in the gravy while I prepare my side dishes flipping them over occasionally

So I made this tonight with some elk I had leftover from elk burgers last night. I have to admit that the elk had a little bit of Lipton Onion Soup Mix and MMIH’s AP seasoning. Other than that I followed the recipe. Instead of mashed potatoes I served it over egg noodles. It rocked! Absolutely delish! I’ll be making it again but without the onion soup mix.

Thanks so much for this recipe! I remember eating Swanson or Hungry Man's Salisbury Steak TV Dinners with Mashed Potatoes and Corn as a child. My mom never made it from scratch but the frozen dinners tasted pretty good back then! I'll be making this for Monday's dinner. My husband can't wait! Thanks again for another great recipe!

WOW! Is this really Salisbury Steak? You know all these years, Salisbury Steak had a bad reputation.....all I can remember those awful frozen TV dinners I used to eat 60 years ago. The steak was like ground plywood, the mashed potatoes like wallpaper paste and in the last compartment were those deadly peas. So this is a revelation to me in my old age seeing (and hopefully making) the REAL thing. Thanks for your expertise....you sold me on it.

Made this last night, it turned out amazing. I was forced to eat so many microwave ones when I was a kid I thought I would never eat another one. But this recipe was AMAZING. If you have ptsd from the microwavable ones this one recipe does not even have the same taste. I would recommend to anyone.
